Hayven said: Man, just tell us how did you import animations to 3ds max
hmm^^ Well all I used was Granny2 Importer Plugin for 3dsmax 2008
and of course winrar,3dsmax 2008,Archangel ;] Thats all.And a lot of looking around data file in h5
EDIT : I have been doing collecting files and putting everything together a long time ago so I just did everything again on one animation to check if I told You right.I found the animation file and RENAMED it to "EXAMPLE NAME.gr2" so that the granny importer would see it.And when importing there is a question : "import Root animation ?" After choosing No the animation is added directly to the base shadow dragon model

The models with all effects look nicer, don't they ? If You want the specifics, its a part of a larger project.I want to recreate whole necro town.
You can find more info here and here
I have read this page before.Unfortunately its just info about skeletons and animation ;]

Sorry if I'm pitching in, but what programs are good for extracting models from other games? I've got WoW Model Viewer, Maya and Blender.

Hello i'm new here i want to ask about modding. is there a way to make the stack number box below the creature in combat to appear smaller.I think the combat looks better if the stack number box is smaller because when in full zoom out those things appear more significant then the creature model especially the small creature type

ty for the reply wizard .Actually i've tried something in the texture and the only things i managed to change is the color of the creature stat and to change the appearance of the box bolder .Is the stack_info box were related to animation? as it appear to be static in size when zoomed in and out

You don't need a hex editor for programming, and the basics are not more difficult then messing with xdb files. Creating a game however is a whole different story because you first need to create an engine. There are games very moddable, so you can create your own game out of it (like unreal series) but I doubt these engines are suitable for turn based strategy.
These words will live forever in history now with Heroes 7, eh?

Why is that ? as far as I have noticed a lot of players are disappointed with it and return to heroes 1-5. Its more likely that heroes 7 will be the history thing...

Not really...
Basically you can change heroes 7 from scratch using the unreal engine (many players can actually right now do that). Some things that are possible with h7:
- Creating new Weeks
- Creating spawning Monsters like in h5 if a monster week happens
- Creating new spells
- Adding parameters to spells (so that they are more usefull lategame)
- Creating Monsters (neutrals) which can spawn on maps
- Creating new artifacts which can spawn on maps
- Creating additional artefakt slots
- Creating passive working artifacts
- Changing rndskill menu
- Changing dragon utopias and other places so the monsters actually increase with a continuing game
- Creating new abilities and skills
- Changing existing abilities and skills
- Change cost and growth
- Change income of mines etc
- Decrease the radius of town areas
- adding towns
- adding monsters
- adding skills
- adding dependencies to skills
- Changing all mechanics
- Creating boss monsters
- create world spells
- create maps with huge visuals and other things (example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64mExODM7Sk)
- much more...
Most of this things are not possible with h5... H5 is a supernice game. But H7 is good in his own way too...

A lot of nice stuff indeed! But can you add initiative and make it work like in h5?
The heroes 3 battle system is just not challenging enough.

I think basically yes. Need to ask lizard for it... He is one of the most awesome modder there...
One of a good thing is that it is possible to add models and animations from other games to h7... Right now they add witcher 2 models... ^^
H7 is much more modder friendly... But buggy right now - better ai now (patch 2.2) and so on... The only thing i really miss right now is inferno... ^^

I know this is an old post but maybe not everybody knows that Autodesk literally doesn't give a crap if you get an illegal copy of 3dsmax, since the same serial number works for any version, 666-6969696.
I mean this is on purpose, they know the young student in his room can't afford the license and needs to train/learn before going pro.
Edit: Oh yeah, although don't crack anything if you're using W10, Autodesk might not give a crap, but Microsoft does. If you're using 7 there is no problem.
lotihoti said: H7 is much more modder friendly... But buggy right now
H7 has the advantage of using UDK but you still need to pass through the HORRIBLE and INSANELY BUGGY "Heroes editor". I don't know how Lizard didn't die yet for how much time he spent there. And while you can change a lot of things, you can't change every single thing AFAIK.

Please do not make h3/h7 comparison, is insulting towards h3.

Well it is possible...
At least lizard said to every point up there "yes", so i believe him. H7 Editor is kinda buggy right now true, i hope they fix that in future patchs too...
About H7: Think of the game without H3 and H5 in mind and you will c that its not that horrible anymore... You will never get that old feelings back (its the same with most mmorpg too... it was better years ago and so on...). Games evolve (good or bad way) - most in a bad way, because we change too... Im looking to h7 in a different way now than i did a year ago and thats why i got a lot of fun playing it. If i dont like something, i dont do it.
But you are right... the editor is buggy. If i remember correctly lizard told something about another editor which he uses insteat of the h7 one.

Once we get the xpac I'll have to test the mod too before release so we'll see. But there would be so much things to change...
At any rate we always welcome help so if you want to do anything, don't hesitate.
