Oh that's cool. I never heard about abilities before though, I hope they won't be ruining my team.
In that case, I decide that Zach is 17 years old.
Also, I used to use some rather specific movesets back when I played, such a Venusaur with subs+leech seed+protect, does that still work? And also, how about combining encore and disable? Back then it made the pokemon use struggle for several turns. Now it seems like you can make encore last for minimum 5 turns and struggle removes 25% of the opponents hit point when used. Does this mean that a disable+encore+recover/(other healing way) now is overpowered?

Abilities were introduced in Gen 3. They are thing like "levitate" that makes a pokémon who is not originally flying type into a 'flier'(He/she is hovering over the ground, thus the pokémon is immune to ground attacks and other earth-based attacks that can't hit a flying pokémon) or "Shed Skin" which means that the pokémon will naturaly get rid of a things like sleep, paralyzis or posion without the help of an item. There are other abilties too which does different things, like make pokémon faster during certain weather condisions, "Guts" which makes a pokémon stronger if he is close to death, "Speed something" which raises speed at the end of every turn. Abilities are in other words amaising.
You also have pokémon natures, but I am not sure if they were introduced in Gen 2 or Gen 3. Anyway I am not certain about how they function.

Hey, pokémon is a tactic game! If combinations were not alowed then who would play the game? Even I have great tactics and try to give my pokémon specific moves to work better...(Ninjaks with Confusion Ray, Double Team, Sand Attack and a offensive move anyone?)

I decided on that age, just to older than you.
Confusion, that reminds me of my old dragonite, it had something like thunder wave, swagger, rest and snore, holding a kings rock.
If I remember correct, you go last while paralyzed, so flinch would always be possible.
Paralyze is around 25%, confuse 50% and snore+kings rock I believe was 40%. So the chance to not be stunned/paralyzed/confused, would be:
(1-0.25)*(1-.5)*(1-.4) = 22,5%. So giving an attack with 100% accuracity, there'd be 87,5% chance of them not hitting. For OHKO moves, it'd 70% chance for them not hitting I believe.
Though I used to play under rules that did not allow one to change pokemon when choosen, except if perish song was in effect, which means that my dragonite really disliked ghost pokemons. And the typical ice attack as well.

Nature will boost some stats and decrease others. They also determine your Pokemon's favorite flavors, which affect how easily they boost Condition in certain categories when fed Pokeblocks/Poffin. Though some Natures are 'neutral' and don't affect anything.
Speaking of abilities, that reminds me--Ohforf do you care which gender and ability your Staryu gets? If not I'll just roll randomly.

Well, I'd like an ability that makes it the best character possible. For gender, I'd like it to be genderless.
After looking at abilities for staryu on bulbapedia I'd like natural cure. Eventhough illuminate does make it possible to find pokemons faster, I don't know how much it will help and I don't like the idea of weakning my future starmie.
So Natural Cure please.

Dragon started with three pokémon: Mightyena, Duskull and Hondour. This I know for a fact seing as he told me(and not, he didn't catch them after starting, else it would have been in the RP).

He does--or rather, he gets Mr. Mime. (Sketch is IMBA and Smeargle's stats are terrible, so he won't be getting that to start with. He would have gotten a third if the rest of his list didn’t consist of Eevee. )
Speaking of which, Mr. Mime's moveset is > 6 moves ATM, so Ohforf, let me know which two you want to drop.
Also, you have 10 EVs for Mr. Mime and 15 for Staryu so let me know where you want them.
And I hope that’s everything because my head hurts now from all the number crunching. @_@

Well, for staryu I want a strong special attacker with a lot of speed, so I suppose I want it invested in special attack. Later speed.
For Mr. Mime, I want a strong special defender, so I suppose I want it invested in spec. defense and health.

Hmm, also I thought I could might as well post some other pokemons I came up with, and if possible, could my third pokemon be a psyduck? I remember from the tv show that I always loved mistys psyduck, not its general behaviour, but how cool it was when it went psycho. When I played gen II it did not seem like possible to create such a psyduck, but in gen IV I think the effect can be mimiced.
Anyway, if not, then just for myself, I'll write down the planned team members, so I won't forget them.
