"Well, we're just running a delivery right now so I'm not sure if we are going there... but maybe? Oh and... Mari?" Mark said, not really knowing if it was the right name since he was somewhat horrible with names (yes, even if they just told him) "You might want to get a water or fighting type. Bandra seems to be everywhere nowadays..." With that, Mark stretched and bid them both farewell.

Mark looked at Mina, a slightly nervous smile on his face. "They were able to learn our strategy on the fly." He said, "Maybe we should keep that a bit more secret from now on?"

"They were able to learn our strategy on the fly. Maybe we should keep that a bit more secret from now on?"
Mina nodded. "And I don't think we can expect it to be useful for more than a few battles, if we're lucky. We'll have to keep further strategies between ourselves and maybe our immediate friends until we're ready to use them, though that limits us as far as finding holes in them." She frowned, worried.
"And I noticed something else, too. We need to get Lapras a bodyguard—something durable and resistant to the types he's weak to would be ideal. Trick Room might help, but a bodyguard would be better, I think. You saw what happened when we tried to heal Lapras? The Wooper got in first? Against Grunts that probably won't be a problem but the more dangerous Pokemon are all going to be faster than ours just due to experience."

A few hours later, the pair of you spot a large dust cloud in the distance; Mark recognizes it as a Rhyhorn herd from his previous experience with Taillow and the baby. Other than that the two of you arrive in Ceris without incident at 3:30 PM ((unless you choose to detour)).
The Contest Hall seems to be in a small uproar at the moment, as a great deal of noise and cheering is coming from it. Most of the rest of town seems to be there, as the streets are relatively empty.

Gold squares – entrance to the Park (think Amity Square)
Dark yellow – bar. This will be the Battleground equivalent.

Mark nodded along slowly, noting her comment about Trick Room in particular and filing it away for a future strategy. With his current party, that move would work very well. "Lapras himself is a rather tough pokemon, with enough training at least. I think that Corphish's evolution, Crawdaunt, is also rather durable, but there are better pokemon for the job. Right now Skarmory is protecting Houndoom, so that is my only other wall right now... maybe if we find a cave I can look for an Onix and we can go mining for stones." Onix was very durrable, and if they found a steal coat along the way, then Mark could evolve it into a Steelix and have a pretty unbreakable wall.

Mark spots the herd and waves as it passes, but otherwise continues to walk along as normal.
((Town))
Despite wanting to go into the Contest hall to see what was going on, Mark decided that getting Lapras healed was more important. "Hey Mina, if you want to go and check out what's happening in the contest hall I'll heal up your pokemon. It might be easier for you to find a spot in there since you're... er..." Suddenly the phrase, 'Louder and more arrogant than me, as well as a girl' didn't sound like the best thing Mark could say in the world. The trainer tried to figure something else out instead, but coming up with politically correct on the fly wasn't really his specialty.

"Injured?" Mina misinterpreted. It's not that obvious, is it? She glanced at her bandaged arm subconsciously and resisted the urge to tug her sleeve over it. Then it occurred to her that maybe Mark just didn't want people staring at his arm. "All right."
Mina picked the Pokeballs for Houndoom and Oodramer off her belt and handed them to Mark for healing. (With some private misgiving; she hadn't forgotten how she'd almost lost all her Pokemon during the Battle Festival.) She'd also wanted to swap out Magikarp since she'd forgotten to this morning, but maybe that was for the best—she never had gotten to train the poor thing. Bidding the other trainer goodbye, she set off for the Contest Hall.

The Aron slams into your stolen Geodude with an audible crack. Geodude remains conscious, however, and retaliates by thudding the ground with its fists. The sound is muffled and not terribly satisfying. The ground shakes, but not very hard; while the Aron is sent stumbling it is still standing at the end of the attack. ((Lousy roll!  ))

You switch out Geodude for Mankey, the fuzzball taking a solid hit in the process. Seeing this, Barret calls back the Aron and calls out his Pineco once again, which is promptly attacked by Mankey.

Mankey seems to be a little irritated from losing its previous target and ignores you, swiping furiously at the Pineco instead. ((Obedience Roll = 79 BTW)) The Pineco retaliates by blowing up in its face.
...it takes a moment for the dust to clear, but when it does both Pokemon are on the ground and not moving. Liberal amounts of soot cover them both. Barret calls back his Pineco and out comes his Aron again.

Brona smiles in returns the other mans handshake, patting his Nidorino. "My Nidorino and Geodude are great, but I cannot get Mankey to listen. I am not too attached to it, so if I got the opportunity I would enjoy trading it for another pokemon."
