From experience with Inferno I've come to the conclution that they are the strongest Faction. If you play with Nymus or Biara (if you have her) it's nearly impossible to lose. All you have to do is gain levels and increase you Gating. This will take a while but I suggest you strive to get Urgash's Call. This will greatly increase you chances of winning since you no longer have to wait for the creatures to become gated. Another advantage is the Succubus either the Mistresses or the Seducers. The Mistresses have the Chain Shot which comes in handy but the Seducers have Seduction (huh go figure) and all you have to do is seduce the strongest enemy unit and attack the enemy's creatures with that unit. But other than gating and the Succubi I have no reason to be or say that Inferno is the best.

Actually, nymus is inferno strongest hero, if we assume all heroes can get urgash call in the same lv. Still, grok is the only one that will get it faster than the others, so in reality, i choose grok over nymus.
But, deleb is the best.
And about inferno is the strongest faction, every faction is strong, though if you talk about 8 month or more battle with more than 1 town from the start, yup, inferno with urgash call is the strongest (better if you have pendant of mastery), no magic hero will have more than 0 mana, and all other faction heroes (both might and magic) will face forces three times of theirs in turn 1 (can become more than four times if few swarm gating trigger, more than five times if numerous swarm gating trigger), which will cause a super mental down, and even if their mental are not down, it still result in total defeat for them. Not even ultimate luck can change this fact, as it urgash call has better potential to nullify it than ultimate defense which in theory is the ultimate counter or rival of ultimate luck, but the fact is different.
But, consider artifact merchant faction, they have the best chance to win if they managed to get power of dragon asap.
But forget this, no one will ever reach that month, and no one will ever agree to fought inferno with that setup.

You can always "fight" inferno with such setups with mentored armageddon suicide warlocks. Not that its something you'll ever face, of course, but..

Yeah, armagedon tactic maybe would work, but in my experience, well, honestly, i ever tried it with my friend, in hourglass, month 9 fight.
If my memory serves my right, i have about 200 archdevils (i use only 2 castle, i will have 300 or more if i use 3 castle), a warlock with 51 spellpower only kills about 20 of them with empowered implosion + emerald slipper. I mean, all mentored warlocks should be able to reduce inferno number to about 60% of the original, then maybe it's an equal fight againts the main warlock, but i still doubt it. For it seems the mentored warlocks hardly reach more than 35 spellpower, which mean it need more than four times suicide attack.
But, if you are patience enough, maybe it would work.
Well, next try after that match i got the dungeon side and my friend inferno, same setup, luckily i got power of dragon month 4, dungeon still lost badly, but i perform better than the first one (when i was inferno and he is dungeon).
Haha forget it, in real match, that thing never happen. Not only because inferno setup, imo it's because no one want to wait that long, i dunno about other people, but i don't want to play for such a very long game in real match.

Honestly, you can't really conclude anything from a month 9 fight. Since Hero growth stalls at some point, your spell-power is likely to be more or less stagnant from month 3 and 4, while your army size grows linearly from this point. This means that from month 5+, might will own magic.
More generally, you can make the following analysis of Might vs. Magic: Your Hero grows very fast in the beginning, because he gains levels fast, visits lots of new map areas, gain artifacts, etc. This growth is most fast in first month, whereas by the end of month two, he's pretty much reached maximum potential.
On the other hand, your army size grows slowly in the beginning - no castle and only low-level dwellings - but will pick up growth rate during the next couple of months until your town is fully build up and all dwellings flagged.
Thus, Magic owns Might in early game, whereas Might owns Magic in late game. By month 9 (extreme late game), obviously, a Warlock by himself will not be able to do much against a full army.

Dark could probably do something about that but then there are those pesky familiars that may drain you first.
My only match of dungeon vs inferno was week 5 on battle for honor and my opponent was eventually overwhelmed, fled and attacked me with new week's army while I had almost nothing. I armageddoned him
A week 5 fight is pretty fair, however one of the main concerns is how much sulfur he can get by then. Nightmares or mage guild 5 can influence a game a lot and he only had the latter. That said the continued barrage of cotn was not funny and he had pretty good spellpower too.

Yeah with swift mind you can act first, still, you need more than dark, because their number will grow twice or more than yours in turn 1, only flyer and shooter units that can attack the real ones, if they're not blocked ofc. Thus forcing all your units to attack the gated one, your units only have 4 option, attack the false one or wait or defend or use ability.
Magic can do something to the real one though, but it doesn't help that much if your real army is forced to stall or decreased to 60% of its original size in just one turn, while inferno still has 100% or more (i count the gated too).
Maybe the best way is to mentor, like Doomforge said, or get power of dragons if it's an artifact merchant faction. With mentor + pwr of dragons, i'm sure you can win or close to it if you're patience enough.

Yeah, right, since it doesn't prove anything, except some ridiculousness, we should agree that there is no strongest faction.

I agree too. We all have our favorites but there really isn't one that really stands out above all the others.
