Warmongers useless? You don't want those to remain, besides you can't always wait or move around till you can get a shot at a better target. As for the ballista it's just a possible build, I'll post another where none has ballista.

Quote: I advise you to join an online tournament. There you will probably be smacked by just about everyone with just about any faction on just about any map. Then i'd like to see you opening threads like inferno is overpowered, haven is overpowered, dungeon is overpowered, etc. You know, if you can't win against them, doesn't mean they're overpowered.
You make absoloutly no sense, player skill and imbalance has nothing to do with eacher other. NOTHING. I say this as a professional DotA player with 4 years of DotA gaming, unfortunately I'm aware that Nival will most likely not release any new patches to fix imbalance.
--------------
Anyway this is what I got from my tests.
Inferno Vs. Haven without ultimate, with artifacts. Inferno wins with a few demons or pit spawns remaining
Inferno Vs. Haven without ultimate, without artifacts. Haven wins.
Inferno Vs. Haven with ultimate, without artifacts. Haven wins but very unreliable depending on how many lucky hits and morale effects occured.
Inferno Vs. Haven with ultimate, with artifacts. Inferno wins with a huge amount of forces remaining.
Inferno Vs. Haven both have ballista with and without artifacts. Haven wins.
Inferno Vs. Haven only Inferno has a Ballista. Haven wins (?Weird).
Inferno Vs. Haven only Haven has a Ballista. Haven wins.
All tests were Nymus Vs. Dougal. Dougal had +200 archers converted from peasants, Both heroes had only tier 1-2 spells, except when Inferno didn't have ultimate with Expert Dark/Destruction.
All tests were lvl 39 vs lvl 39 heroes 40 weeks vs 40 weeks. Inferno had two Chaos Gates (In order to compensate the 200 archers of dougal). Both towns had growth without castle included and without special building, like +2 demons +1 nightmares etc.
?I'm confused alot. I guess we should stop this discussion because I don't see absoloutly any relation to all the tests I made. ?Confused?

These people say that Haven is overpowered and is the Numba One faction, so I only compared it to Haven just for them.

I'm confused -.- I don't see a relation to all the tests I made, but since I'm not an idiot I can't say that inferno is overpowered. Although this is weird :/

That was days ago and its called is Inferno overpowered ? see the >?< the >?< means its a question. The result of the tests were finished only today. And they have absoloutly no relation to each other. And this is weird. And I need to try this 1vs1 against a human oponent. And I need to leave soon.
###Edit: I'm not allowed to make more then 20 posts in 24 hours, luckily I need to leave anyway =) Cya later HoMM community, hope to see some of you on Ubisoft multiplayer tomorrow!

I think that trial and error is always a good thing. Most towns are pretty balanced, though some have advantages vs others. Any town can be beat. I mean I am a huge Stronghold fan, but I know they are not unbeatable by any stretch of the imagination. Necros for one give them a heck of a time. Depending on how their creeping goes, inferno should be able to just summon spam them to death (orcs are a little slow with the init). Still it could get interesting .
Just look at the boards, however. This town is imba and over powered, that town is imba and overpowered..this town is underpowered and that town is underpowered. Not every town can be both over and underpowered (it just is not feasible). Most of the time overpowered is started by people who lost to the town (not always mind) and the underpowered threads are started by those who lost with those towns (again not always).
There are towns that are great early game. Towns that are great mid game. Towns that are great late game. There are even towns who do pretty good in any stage of the game. It all depends a lot on luck, on skill, and a little on sheer guts (can make or break a game if you take a huge chance and come out on top).

You misunderstood what samiekl said and he knows well what he is talking about. In any case the same battle can have different results if played more than once, you'll find nothing with these tests. The facts that remain are that:
There is no way to guarantee that your haven skill is equal to your inferno skill.
Initial placement can decide the course of battle.
Good timing for luck or morale can randomize the results.
Training is usually +10x paladins, not 100x archers. Or you can split between training both, usually there is not enough money to train all priests.
Skills will never be the same due to randomness and the available witch huts.
Starting atb: Should you have a ballista the starting atb is crucial. It may shoot or the demonlord may frenzy a unit and kill it. Similarly the centaurs may act first or not.
You may get crappy spells while the opponent doesn't.
Etc.
In all my games and replays from others I have seen all kinds of results, each faction can win and be defeated by any other. What mostly affects the modifier of winning is when the battle takes place and what are the available artifacts.
Anyway here are 3 more replays. Same match though I have played them with 3 different ways to experiment a bit.

Yes. Something that I also forgot to mention is that I got stamina with barbarians and mentored it out. I don't think I kept the +2 defense but the boost to hp remained.

oh wow Elvin, nice stats.
Haven't played this game for a looong time so I'm probably outdated but.. Inferno OP? No way. I mean, this faction always required skill, more skill, and skill, of course. I've played against our local champion once and I got trashed, destroyed, owned, etc. This guy did miracles with this faction, I felt like it didn't matter whether I controlled my units or not.
But he's extremely good, so it doesn't surprise me. When I play inferno, it never looks that way, I'm somehow clumsy in creeping without Deleb and rather clueless in counterspelling (needs a great amount of planning and skill tbh.). Besides, without Deleb, my anti rush power is close to zero, so it doesn't take a genious just to come and kick my sorry butt.
In other words, a faction for good players. Much like Necropolis (masters only, imo ), maybe a bit easier (without Deleb. With deleb, it's your standard clicky clicky faction).
Overpowered? why...

How is Inferno and Necropolis hard to play? Inferno and Necropolis are the ONLY factions I can beat heroic AI on small scenario maps. Academy and Dungeon are really hard and confusing Well I guess it’s a matter of taste.
---------------
On topic, I played a game against myself on the Scholar map. Barbarians Vs. Inferno, the result was ridiculous! Barbarians had Swordsman guarding Sar Issus parts, (Easy +10k on week 1) Zombies near both Dolmens, Ghosts near Gold Mines and a small stack of Hydras near Dragon Set pieces. Poor Inferno had Wind Dancers and hordes of Elemental Gargoyles everywhere. Obviously Barbarian grabbed all the easy artifacts and Inferno was defeated on week 3 day 2. This made me think that it absolutely doesn’t matter how much skill you have and what faction you’re playing if you get lucky like that. The power of Random!
P.S. Shak'Kurakat with +2 HP ring is imba
