Last week sensei started asking people what rank they were. He was looking at me curiously since he knew I had practiced with his sensei before but had no idea what kyu I was. With unshakable confidence I said..
- 3rd kyu, I think.
- You think?
Fail  But in my defense it had been a while and I have not been interested in rank exams for a long time now. And actually, I wanted to avoid my last exams because I did not feel ready but a friend urged me to catch up because he'd be alone in the examination. Catching up in the middle of summer was fun 
Lately there has been a lot of cardio and sword/staff practice, training feels more complete  It's because we now belong in my first sensei's association and he likes weapons. A lot ^^

i was in couple situations where there was more than one person that were threats:
1. i fled a group of kids who intended harm because i didn't have a weapon on me(middle school).
2. i didn't flee 3 guys in my late teens, because i had a knife. they left instead, but:
3. came back. i ended up having to leave because they brought back a fourth, who had a gun.
now that i carry a gun, i haven't fled anything since. a gun will top martial arts any day of the week. like slowpoke rodriguez(loony tunes' speedy gonzales' cousin): he doesn't have to run away, because he carries a gun.

How to do Aikido when you do Aikido
An insightful video on what makes aikido work. It is hard for an outside observer to judge if a technique should work or the uke(recipient of the technique) is just playing along. And even high level aikidoka carry misconceptions that will make a technique not work when they believe that it would.
There is *always* a momentary break in balance and then a continued flow until the opponent is on the ground or otherwise immobilized. No matter how flawless the form of a technique is, it won't work if the uke does not lose his balance. The trick is that moment of first contact.

Smack the temple vein hard enough and see if they can survive internal hemorrhage without immediate medical care, or kick them in the windpipe, also did you know that if you hit/kick someone in the sternum hard enough you can make their heart skip a beat? There's a reason why "beaten to death" is an expression, I know these don't sound so mystic like whatever pseudo-karate moves someone may try to convince you they know, but they are real.

You remember budo master or head coach have work together with a police, they ask and check up on situation, budo master knows situation, if he notice fake, and a police bring a real karate to judicatory, for example

not sure who's quote you're answering, but it's good you did. whoever posted that, are certainly misinformed.

OP gently bashes on Bruce Lee, of course there is going to be some mistakes.
Another instance would be the very first point, saying weight is the most important. No, technique and regular practice is. If you weight 70 kilos but you manage to transfer 80% of your weight in your fist and hit your target, opponent gets 56 kilos in the face, in the streets that's a knockout, and most likely with broken jaw.

You can beat a heavier opponent with the right techniques and weight manipulation in martial arts.
Nevertheless, you alas can't throw fireballs.
