10 creatures instead of 7!!!
Why not 10 creatures instead of 7 in H6? I see that much of the towns could have important creatures that, for some reason, has been moved to neutral or neither exists!
Examples of two creatures that could be added in the towns:
Haven - Pikeman and Wisp
Inferno - Efreet and Demon Knight
Sylvan - Wolf (or White Tiger) and Mantis
Dungeon - Troglodyte and Beholder (or Faceless)
Academy - Dragon Golem and Sphinx (or Manticore)
Necropolis - Death Knight and Crypt Fiend (or Mummy)
Fortress - Troll (or Halfling) and Valkyrie
Stronghold - Harpy and Behemoth
10 is not better than 7?

Too many. 7 is a good number, 6 and 8 are alright if you have more/less castles (respectively), 9 would only work if they had 1 as a grail creature, 10 is way too many.

Yawn...
Why not 20 different Towns? I mean, that would be awesome!
Or how bout this: 3 different hero types per faction? That would be awesome too!
...
Now think from a game developer's view... you need money, time etc.
With unlimited resources, I'm sure HoMM6 could become the ultimate game of all time... But there's no such things at unlimited money/time. (Well... if you're not Blizzard...)
You need time... 7 creatures per faction is fine for me, but 10 creatures probably wouldn't make the game better anyway. I'd rather see that Nival (Or someone else) spend the time needed for 3 extra creatures per faction on something else instead.

10 units are a little too many IMO. Too hard to do for the developers, unless you want less factions...

Oh, and no Harpies for Stronghold...
They should have their own faction.
I think I read somewhere that they fled to the mountains and started something on their own. Sylath Harpy Faction ftw!
I'd like H6 to have many different factions with very different playing styles.

8 creatures + 1 grail creature would be perfect! So, the most powerful creature is in the grail?

Hey, while we're at it, why not make it so that the Grail also builds all structures in town, adds a one-time bonus of 1.000.000 Gold and 1000 of each resource (2000 Wood and Ore of course) and adds 1 years growth of all creatures in town? That way, we'd remove the last gazilionth bit of risk that you'd ever loose the game once you found the grail.
No thanx to more overpowered grail features.

Just remove some of the grail (tear of asha, to be exact) abilities! After all, he really is too overpowered!

Zolt: 2 things. 1, use the edit button, and 2, (and this is actually for Asheera) I agree. Less creatures more factions.

My idea
Some time ago I posted a LONG (9-page) post containing my ideas for Heroes VI. A major idea was 12 factions/towns with 10 creatures each, 2 creature types per level (with 2 possible upgrades for each) with choice at levels 3-5. I actually managed to give each town its own distinctive identity and playstyle, with 10 creature types per town. Search for it if you like.

To be at the subject I would say only a thing:
10 creatures\town is too exagerated,7 creatures is good and must remain 7

In my H6 proposals, there are 12 towns, 7 "regular" creatures in a town, 1 grail creature (but the grail can also be built by building every other building), and 1 neutral creature that is aligned with that town.

Yeah... I also think that 10 would be a bit too much. Not only from the developers view. Just think about it. It would just take too long to build. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind if they made 20 towns. As long as they had unique creatures, abilities and themes and were some how all perfectly balanced. But that would be incredibly hard for the developers obviously and probably wouldn't be possible given the time or that we, the consumers, are willing to wait. That being said, I would like to see 8 levels of creatures in each town. 10 would be cool if they couldn't be hired from towns, like heroes 3's dragons.

10 might work IF 3 were also considered neutral..(Ie 3 that would not give negative morale to certain towns but have to be found/bought in a neutral building). Maybe one building where all the neutrals could be bought.

thehiddeneye's system of 10 creatures might work provided some are exclusive, but a town with more than 7 levels is plain ridiculous.

I think Hiddeneye's system works so well because there are effectively only 5 tiers. I don't think the number of creatures as such is an issue, but the number of tiers is, because if the difference between strongest and weekest creature become extreme, it's a problem. Just consider the H3 Azure Dragon, once such a strong creature comes in play, the low-tier units become completely unimportant.
I think 8 tiers can work, mostly because there is currently a gap between tier 6 and 7 which could be filled, but making top-most creature much stronger will skew the balance I think.
