You can only play against others that have the same game, as far as I know almost everyone plays tote.

Hi!
I've already posted a question regarding this topic, not sure if it went to the wrong place (sorry if it did). My original post can be found [url=http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=19535&pagenumber=31]here[/url].
It's about the good 'ol error 0.2.0, for those of you who don't feel like reading the whole question from the link, here's a synopsis:
- Made 3vs3 custom map.
- Started amultiplayer LAN game with two friends using Hamachi v. 2.0.2.85
- Played the game for several hours successfully.
- Host saved the game
- Tried loading it the next day and got error 0.2.0
Now this can't be a hamachi problem since we can start and play the game, the problem occurs while trying to load a saved MP game. We've already:
- Deleted H5mmods folders
- Deleted savegames
- Updated our HOMM5 Tote:s to the latest version (3.1)
Yet no cigar, can you help?

As far as I know the strongly suggested version for hamachi is the older 1.0.1.5; maybe because of the version of your hamachi there is some sort of discrepancy between the data of the players (just an assumption). So maybe you could try to use 1.0.1.5 and see if the same problem occurs.

We did actually change back to version 1.0.1.5, but that wasn't the problemsolver.
This is how we solved the problem:

It turns out that after saving the game, the map actually updates ONLY to the host computer. So after saving, the *.h5m file has to be sent from the host computer to the other players computers, and it needs to replace the original mapfile in the /Maps folder.

Hallo evryone. i'm playig tribe of east with hamachi and with game ranger with one frend of mine, but we decidet to play with other 2 peoples and it didnt hapend. The problem is that we cant play more then 2 peoples.

Which versions?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place... Since its my first post, I can't start a new topic!
A year ago or so, I played Hot-Seat with a friend of mine. I think he had all the versions up to HOMM:TotE... I'd like to buy a copy but not sure which one(s) to get. I'd like to be able to play all factions in Hot-Seat mode...
Thanks for any help you vets can provide!

In need of Hamachi help!!
My friend and I recently got HOMM 2. We want to play using hamachi but we can not find step by step instructions on what to load first (the game or hamachi) and what to click and when...
For example should we be loading HOMM 2 first or firing up hamachi first? Do we connect to the tcp/ip on the game before or after we turn on hamachi (that kind of thing)
There are instructions on the forums but they assume most people already know the basics.
I would so appreciate a step by step (first click here) set of directions if someone knows how and would help.

It's an easy process. Start hamachi, join your friend's network and once in you'll be able to play lan from ingame. I do not know H2 multiplayer modes but if you see something like lan or local network that's the right place.

Do we start Hamachi first and then once we are both logged in start up the game? Do we use the IP address that Hamachi gives us when we go to multiplayer then network then tcp/ip in the game?

I just tried to play some TOTE with a friend using hamachi. But we just can't found eachother in the game. We then tried heroes 3 and that worked fine. Does anybody know why? We are using the same version of the game (3.1) so thats not the problem.

Some players cannot see games created by others, did you both create to see if one of you can see the other's?

about this Hamachi thing : is there a list or something where i can find ppl who play Heroes ? if i want to play in the moment, can i find a mate for the playing by using Hamachi ?

QUESTION:
Can me and a friend save a multiplayer (LAN) game in progress, and come back to it on another day?
We played a FFA game sucessfully for a few hours, and then saved it. Today we tried to load the save... but there's no option to load multiplayer game.
This game doesn't allow you to save multiplayer games????!??!?
We both have HOMM5 TOTE patch 3.1.

Of course you can save/load, saves do not disappear like that as far as I'm concerned. Problem is you cannot find them manually as they have no names when you open their folder. Still they should show when you load multiplayer ingame.

OK I've found out how to load saved MP games... the menu is so convoluted... it reminds you that this is a 10-years-old game.
For those wondering the same thing (probably no one...), you have to click on the MP map you and your friend were using, and THEN the "load game" option comes up.

No game saved
Everytime i try to join available game in multiplayer, it says something like this "no saved game in here" or something...
What should i do to get play with others?

Well yeah but why every where is possible to join, needs saved game, and some says wrong version and most of all is just gray so i cant try to join.

Saves are stored on your machine and need to match for both opponents. No save, no join. Likewise the game 'version' needs to match including patch, mods, modded maps etc. Having custom maps or mods that your opponent does not is more than likely to give an error. Skin mods that do not affect the game data are an exception.
