No, it's no a great effort... but I've seen this function on other sites.

You simply press a button that says Upload to Imageshack, a browser window pops up, you choose the file and wait for it to be uploaded, the IMG tag is then added directly to your post.

But as you said... it's easy to do it the normal way.

Why not setting the site to copy the image to HC?
If you are willing to pay for the server costs go ahead

Besides, this could be abused by crackers.

The IMG tag doesn't store anything apart from the LOCATION of the image. No image with an IMG tag is stored on HC unless the location is "http://heroescommunity.com/..." doh.

The IMG tag references files, it doesn't store them.

That's a good Idea too.

When I say to copy an image, i mean debbuging the information of the image and then copying the script online, where the numbers and letters are read as color information. It's not a very easy job, but can be achieved using a proffesional programmer.

Whoa whoa whoa... Wait a sec.

who gave you the idea images are scripts?
They are binary files, you know, just like pictures from your camera (jpeg) or .gif files (another algorithm) or .png.. nothing magical and most certainly not scripts...

@Death: I know that and that's not what I meant, the picture is uploaded on imageshack but the special picture button allows you to upload images there without entering the site... it's easier.

Yeah ok, but still I don't find what's so hard without that...

besides I don't like imageshack because most people don't use an account to upload and then pictures get deleted and when someone revives the thread a year later they will be like "WTF?!?"

I didn't say images use scripts, I sayed that they're a mass of letters and numbers (ff0000; 00ffff for instance are diferent colours) which are read by the OS's as images. The computer is not that smart to make diference between an image and a text file, he is just programmed to show them to us as diferent files.

So a computer is a male now? What about female computers? Think of the female computers!!!

And on topic, TheDeath is most certainly right with this.

No such thing. Where do you get the idea?

I don't know of any image "format" that uses the above thing you said, it would be horribly inefficient (6 bytes per pixel instead of 3).

Some scripts have that for color, but no such thing for images. Why would you anyway? It would be better to upload an image since it would have 1/2 size, uncompressed, not to mention that JPEG and .gif and .png are compressed with complex algorithms.

Seeing as how there's no [spoiler] tag at HC or something similar to protect some texts, I have come up with an idea on how to make the text visible only when quoting a post, so as to prevent any mistakes of seeing it involuntarily.

What's the idea? Simple. Quote this post and find out the secret message and see how it's done.

It'd be nice to have an Arial font tag, so ASCIIs from other websites could be used.

You already have [courier], but if it's still not showing properly, replace all ' ' spaces with '.' (dots).

Asheera your idea is good, but I doubt everyone would want to quote the post every time just to see a hidden message. Perhaps have it like on other forums, where it has a button asking whether you want to see the Spoiler and then it appears for you. Also, make it disabled for Guests.

Well I was thinking to use it for riddle answers and the like... there aren't THAT common so it's not going to be such a pain quoting the post with the answers once in a while...

But yeah of course a new [spoiler] tag or something similar would be better, but with the current situation at least we can use my idea.

What's the deal with not logging in anyway?

Afraid that people spy on you in HCM or is it just that you delete your cookies all the time?
