Nope, if it's that cross-like, it's not just a hilt (which wont function in a lightsaber as it's supposed to anyway as we've talked through) but a type of sword that is specific to knighthood of medieval Christianity. And no matter how many strechted out theories you insert, it's directly taken from that and it WILL BE assocciated with that, random twitter example:
lightsaber crucifix is fun, though. I wonder if this guy is spreading the good news about jesus

And even if we skip all this, it looks ugly, bulky and unimaginitive.

We interrupt this program to bring you a comment about "Interstellar" (flashback - the crossguard lightsaber sucks and that's a fact).
Now that's an interesting movie, conceptually. Not too much CGI, fairly believable for the most part (not sure if this survives if you are competent in physics though, I know that I'm not), actors do their job relatively well, it's easy to watch overall, despite its length.
And here is the "but" - the impression that this is not a stand-alone movie but rather a "summary" of some TV series which never got made gets stronger and stronger as it progresses. The makers obviously had many, many ideas and tried to fit them all in these nearly 3 hours but didn't quite succeed without sacrificing other important things, like character developments and bridging some of the scenes fluently, to name a few. It's like "You've seen this guy's face and he spoke a few words, right? Right, moving on." This includes even the main character who has the most screen time (of course) but feels rather incomplete. The sequencing feels like an action version of "2001: A Space Odyssey" but with less cohesion. Directing generally leaves something to be desired. Music is also overused to create dramatic effect without any real necessity in some cases but that seems to be an inherent Nolan flaw.
Did I like it? I think I did. Despite the issues which underline its imperfection quite strongly sometimes, it's a movie worth seeing. It's not something that will remain in the cinematographic history for sure but it has brains behind it - something which is in very short supply in the sci-fi genre lately. Recommended.

lightsaber from the sith in 4th episode, I was like wow, cool.
But double lightsaber also came from EU, years before Phantom Meneace:
As for swords - Sith used swords with hilts in EU, but these were crystal swords and not lightsabers, who can cut off user's fingers much easlier then opponent's.

Yes, but as you can see in your own link they are not (what I refer to as) that cross-like. They even look closer to Roman swords. Without the symbolical reference, a T shape that wide and plain wouldnt come in handy.

Almost all swords had crossguards at one point. It was a stage of evolution. Crossguard is better than no guard, clamshell guard is better than crossguard, etc.
That isn't a grossguard though, it's a crosstorch

It wont prevent that, the intersection is still metal and will be cut by the lightsaber.

New explanation: The ancient model lightsaber also uses a special Jedi relic metal that is capable of withstanding the heat of a lightsaber for a period of time.
