Quote: And we don't know if he will not awe us with some new technology while at it...
His latest work, Alita: Batle Angel, merges live action with unseen CGI like it was a part of our reality. Vast majority of the movie is computer graphics, but you can't really tell it.
Plus, the the movie is based on manga which doesn't even try to resemble real world or even probable future - it's style is getting close to surreal. Making spectacular movie for Cameron is not anymore a question of technical mastery, but the imagination itself.

I'd be surprised if they were, the first was eye-popping.

I’d throw Pokémon on that list of movies to watch! I’m mostly looking forward to Spider-Man and It 2 this year. I also realized as I type this that Star Wars 9 isn’t on the list either LMAO did the eighth movie completely shatter any interest in that franchise for you too?
Pokémon I might watch by accident, if I ever bump into it. It's neither here nor there for me. It didn't hit me as creepy as seeing Will Smith as the Genie in Alladim. And always watching Pikachu spamming "Pika, Pika" is kind of amusing. Note: "pica" in my language is a slang for cock, penis.
And regarding Star Wars, I was never a SW fan. I remember watching that Episode One with that thing, I remember the name was Jar Jar something. Well, that movie was dreadful. Then I tried watching the second one, which I felt like I was watching something like a Stage and a lot of actors on it. Didn't immerse. Then I watched Episode ... 7? The one with the gal, Hans dying and Luke reappearing in the ending. So, I rewatched 1, 2 and 3 to actually remember what it was all about. Those 3 were the most amusing. But now, I completely turned off anything regarding these movies. Not really interested on them. It feels stretched thin.
As for Avatar, I'm reserving judgement. One of my favorite characters died in the last one and I'm not sure of the timeline of these new movies either. I just hope the storyline is not another simple story disguised by CGI.

The funny thing about Avatar is that it created zero fanbase. Star Wars or Marvel have a fanbase but Avatar was basically a one-off movie and that was it. With him creating multiple movies I think that might change. Personally, I think the setting is pretty awesome. I can't wait to see some of the other moons.

You've got a point. I also can't remember anything outside some cosplayers or a bunch of books, which were kinda neat actually, like the worldbuilding/lore one in which they "trolled" how Na'vi procreate (hint: they didn't answer anything ).
I think what ultimately buried the idea of a fanbase for Avatar is that people weren't able to disect its setting. I mean Pandora is a moon of "some" planet. That's it. We also only know Earth is devastated so Earthlings are looking for other settlements and they stumbled upon Pandora. Nothing more. Notice that a fanbase builds around worlds/settings that are vast. Because they can create fan-fiction, speculate what is out there, on the timeline etc. It stimulates their imagination. Avatar puts everything on a silver plate. The lore is pretty shallow. Cameron only recently built a theme park around Avatar, maybe that's a start?

But can they paint with all the colors of the wind?
Have they ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?
Have they ever asked the grinning bobcat why he grins?
I didn't think so.

Jaffar is young and attractive now. I mean why not?
I think it looks a good though. I’m on board for a Will Smith Genie. I didn’t think I’d like him changing from the blue to his skin color but it works for me.

Damn I see the original version also caught up Sometimes when we're on a drunken party and someone gets into the "play the Disney songs from Youtube" phase everyone sings the Polish version aloud. It's that good
Oh and I've seen Alladin trailer yesterday already. I think it will be a hit although somehow the actor playing the man himself doesn't strike me as suitable for the role (lack charisma for one, but this might only be the first impression). And Jafar is a joke. Then again I never was a fan of this particular Disney movie to begin with, so I might not be well versed in it...
Btw I've heard they're making Maleficent 2. I mean wtf?

Parents that let their children watch Pocahontas are legally guilty of child abuse. That's how crappy that movie is. I watched that movie when I was a kid and have never been the same.
I'm legitimately psyched to see live-action Little Mermaid. Mulan will also be fresh.

Actually watching most of modern cartoons, Disney is doing a good job in making kiddy-friendly animated features. People like to snow about the "values" those present, but it's still better then the crap they make children watch today...
Also you can see how many artists/animators were influenced by Disney.

Vice - 6/10 - Christian Bale and the rest of the cast do a fantastic job but the story-telling method used is a 70/30 mix of standard film-making interspersed with extremely "Arty" sections (a 5+ minute section is done as a Shakespeare play etc) making what should be a fairly simple docu-drama feel more like an indie art project at times and, for me at least, that knocked down the enjoyment substantially, but only during the arty bits as the "normal bits" were fine. The story is "fairly" factual for the most part but it massively runs off the rails right at the end when it starts to linked some of the things Dick Cheney to Sandyhook for example.

Antman2 was fun. Not particularly great but all sorts of wacky and energetic. Humour was a little silly, not too smart or too funny.

Captain Marvel was like a snack in between meals. It was ok, I was happy I saw it, it connected tons of threads from previous movies which was entertaining and interesting. Her powers are pretty cool. But overall it feels like a mediocre MCU film.
Especially after the new End Game trailer It doesn't show much but oh the feels! It packs an emotional punch, it really worked for me.

Wreck it Ralph 2
More gooey goodness with plenty of nods and winks for adults to catch whilst the kids laugh at the slapstick. The Disney princesses hit the feminism message in a pretty unfun way but it's only a tiny annoyance and they made fun of it during the "rescue" of Ralph at the end. A typical story but well done, good voice acting and it's funny which make for an OK film but it's just soulless fun so only an OK out of 10 from me.
