@Sal:
The way tech giants set their own algorithms is a serious and complicated question that is going to be argued about for a long time. It's not going to go away either, and countries like China use a lot more liberality in controlling what kind of information its people access... at least for those who don't get around it.
When propaganda first became mass published in the 16th century, you could easily enough rely on people's ignorance in order to spread absurd claims and get people on board with whatever it is you were pushing. You can _still_ do that today - even with the internet - because having access to over a trillion pieces of information doesn't mean a person is going to dissect the information and make rational judgments. You can Google all sorts of ridiculous things that will make people dumber for having read it.
BUT, other than just spreading nonsense, you can also influence people more subtlety. News outlets already do this. They don't report false things as facts, but they do cherrypick and analyze what they report and what they don't report. Stories and details that make their worldview look bad are ignored or underplayed, while stories that promote their worldview go the front page or are overreported and overemphasized. Without outright lying or making things up, they spin a narrative that moves its audience towards whichever direction they want them to go.
So YouTube joining in on this is no surprise. You can't escape from the information wars by moving from the TV to the internet. It will follow you everywhere. Free speech is NEVER safe.

Well, from what I've seen it was 150 for US and 300 outside of US. Guess most people worldwide don't give a f* about USA's identity crisis problems (most probably even don't know about it, especially about the trolling on RT, it's still a mostly USA thing). They probably don't even watch the "troll" Youtube movies and have no idea about the whole affair. MCU is MCU and it brings people to the cinema, it wasn't possible it would turn otherwise.
The "in your face trolls" article vomit is hilarious though... feminists must be so happy right now.

Respectfully, your post is factually ignorant.
Having 2/3rd or more of sales outside of the US for a movie is very good. Most movies are less than that although Marvel has been a successful enterprise. Star Wars, for example, gets about half of its sales within the US. Back in the 1970s and 1980s it would have been a much smaller ratio outside the US although American film has been increasingly successful at marketing and selling overseas. Many developing countries don't have the custom of going out to watch a movie at the theater although that has been changing.

Blizzardboy, you've won, I get it. All arguments are irrelevant, the movie made bucks so equality for everyone. Why it made it is irrelevant. What white males have to say is irrelevant. Only one side is ignorant, the sexist troll manchildren.
All reasonable arguments are like throwing rocks into a wall. Mine arguments or anyone elses. I try to understand the logic behind some of the views here, but it is clearly out of the definition of how I understand "common sense". As long as media wants an outcome this outcome will be controlled with articles, algorithms and their supporters etc.
I recently though to myself why I even bother. This forum brings out the worst in me and I should only focus on games (there are enough of threads here for this) while they're still semi-free from political bs (at least the ones I play, mostly that is), because I clearly have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to what is "common sense", at least when compared to "enlightened" people. I might be a ranting, might be stating the obvious I don't care anymore.
The consensus is easy to comprehend at least: I'll go watch the movie, judge it as any other MCU movie, and I'll steer clear from US of A's affairs... let them fry in their own hellhole...

You're a good poster so I don't know what all the dramatics are about. You don't have to agree with me, but I'm just saying, getting 2/3rd sales outside the US is pretty good since these movies also compete with whatever films are playing that are made locally.

It's not about agreeing with you or not Blizzardboy, I'm simply sick and tired of trying to relay a message that seems to be falling on deaf ears. MCU movies are popular and have big incomes, despite social warriors wanting to tag it as a feminist success. It is the mindset that is currently popular in USA media, and many people seem to be jumping on the boat because it literally plays on their consciousness. Many people feel it's important to raise topics of equality, and that is common sense I think, but the way it's handled is imo the worst...

Watching these Shazam clips ... it looks like it sucks. Like a lot.
A lot of upcoming stuff that I really don't know what to think of:
- Dark Phoenix
- Toy Story 4
- Alladim Movie
- The Lion King Movie
- Hellboy
- Terminator
- Pet Sematary
- The New Mutants
Some that I'm inclined, at least a little, to watch:
- Avengers End this Crap
- Spider Man Away from Somewhere
- Glass
- It 2
- Ad Astra
This Alita I don't have the slightest curiosity to watch. And not really hyped to see Marvel Hoe either. Only for the duty to see what's coming next.

@Panda
I’m on the fence with Shazam. Not a fan of most dc movies but the latest trailer had some funny stuff in it. Looks like it might be a fun popcorn movie.
I’d throw Pokémon on that list of movies to watch! I’m mostly looking forward to Spider-Man and It 2 this year. I also realized as I type this that Star Wars 9 isn’t on the list either LMAO did the eighth movie completely shatter any interest in that franchise for you too?
I watched velvet buzzsaw on Netflix the other night. Pretty good movie with good performances but a somewhat lacking story. I enjoyed the premise and jake gyllenhaal’s character but I was expecting more plot wise since it was the same writer and director of Nightcrawler, which is an excellent movie that I recommend.

Star wars is no longer a series where new films are celebrated by default. Solo and last jedi have given Disney a reason or two to rethink their modus operandi. I mean they tried to milk harder than Lucas and that is no small undertaking!

Yeah it’s just interesting to me how hard it got dropped! When solo was coming out I could definitely feel the lack of care amongst my friend circle. Even the ones who say they liked 8 didn’t care about solo. But this next one is a main entry AND the last of this trilogy, so it’s even more funny(in a sad kind of way ) to see the lack of care as it approches. I’m obviously gonna watch the trailers and see what JJ abrams can do with the mess he was left with. Although I say remaking the last Jedi is the best option going forward
Edit:
@Blizz
I didnt see solo in theaters either but also thought it was a fun movie when I rented it. I really liked the train chase sequence! The movie’s pacing was a bit weird making it feel like a checklist movie. Got the falcon? Check. Got the blaster? Check. Dice? Check. The last name solo given to him by some clown registering the soldiers that Han then permanently keeps for some reason? Check. Okay that lasts one they didn’t even try

I actually thought Solo was a fun movie. I didn't see in theater but I was pleasantly surprised.
It bombed at the box office because I don't really think anybody was asking for a Solo movie. They just kind of made it for some random reason. A combination of nincompoops in charge of TLJ leaving a bad taste for millions of people and production nightmares with Solo led to a poor selling movie.
But yeah, I can't say that I really give a **** about Star Wars anymore. I'm sure Abrams will make a good movie because he has the experience and the ability but I also know any intriguing mysteries he creates will just be a bunch of bull**** with no real answers.
Star Wars is going to end up getting drowned out by the upcoming Avatar movies.

Does anyone even care about avatar though? It has been a long time and while it had unbelievable visuals, the story and characters were hardly special.

I think Cameron works like a magnet. He might be stretching it with 5 (?) movies in the Avatar franchise, but it will definately break records. And we don't know if he will not awe us with some new technology while at it...

CGI has (almost) hit a ceiling. It's not 100.00% perfect but a CGI character with enough time & effort put into it is pretty damn close to real life. The new Avatars will look better than the 2009 Avatar, but not by a wide margin.
Now we need to do something more worthwhile, like upgrading the human eye.
