David Cronenberg and Viggo Mortensen work well together, kind of like Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro.
They have another movie together, A Dangerous Method. Once again, it’s their familiar themes, latent violence and sexual urges at the heart of civilized society etc. But this time it’s taken on a more theoretical level. Mortensen plays Freud and Michael Fassbender plays Jung.

Mad Max Fury Road is a perfect movie. Charlize Theron slays in that movie. The visuals and directing and soundtrack and actors are all godlike. They're finally getting the next one out in 2023 after years of being stuck in production hell.

went to go see "a quiet place 2" with my sister. not bad, except most of the characters in the movie were friday-the-13th-movie-victim levels of stupid. i haven't wanted to watch a boy die horribly on-screen this bad since game of thrones. the mother was next to useless and retarded in this movie. the only people worth watching, and relatable to, were the girl and the man. everyone else but the baby could've been chewed up and spit out, and i wouldn't have given a snow. except the boy; he desperately needed to be removed from that scenario, and the big screen, post-haste.

Always felt the same in that delicate scene where Dr. Evil played “what if God was one of us.” Best piano performance ever no matter what Sal says.

watched "closer". fantastic movie, except for 4 things: the opening song, the closing song(sounds like the same lame-ass song; might be), one line of dialogue from roberts(which was delivered horribly), and the ending. the ending made the movie bittersweet, but up until then it was almost perfect. this movie blurs the lines between gritty realism and dramatic hollywood dialogue. the characters are all horrible, but unlike "last tango in vegas", i found myself liking them regardless; for the most part. portman and the owen were my favorites, hands-down. the pair of couples switched roles in the movie; like "face-off", but they were superbly better at it. parts of the movie were hilarious, parts of the movie were touching and human, and the parts with the reptilian coldness were brilliantly written. overall, a fantastic movie. i think because the movie ended on a cold-blooded note, it felt like an attack on the viewer themselves; which kind of draws you into the movie more, now that i think about it. maybe i'm just a pussy for wanting this movie to end on a nice note.

The ending certainly made the movie what it is. I wouldn’t call Mike Nichols movies “Hollywood movies.” They are not independent films with unknown actors or anything like that, sure, but they are also not your typical Hollywood formula based generic stuff. He’s a true artist.

recently rewatched two great over-the-top movies: "last man standing" with bruce willis, and "desperado" with antonio banderas. they go great as a pair; seeing people go flying due to small-arms gunshots is frigging hilarious.

Watched Grave of the Fireflies for the first time a few days ago. The 1988 animated film. Made me cry. Definitely a bit surprised how much it moved me. Being the oldest brother myself and easily relating to the main character made sure of that. It's definitely one of the few movies I would recommend everyone to see once in their lives, and afterwards to read about the original book and author's experiences.
