I have a feeling you will be disappointed. The movie itself was decent but when reading about the book plot on wiki..

Review: Flyboys
In Bulgaria, I saw some movies on the National TV.
Now guys, if you ever visit Bulgaria, know this: All movies featured on TV in Bulgaria are either horrible or Dubbed in faulty bulgarian (and probably both horrible and dubbed :S)
One of them, and the only one I saw fully was Flyboys. My goodness, it was... so cliché that I nearly turned green when seeing it. It was sooooo full of political correctness... and I really do *NOT* like Political Correctness.
The top of it was making a black actor a WW1 Pilot. Yep, you heard me, 40 years before Martin Luther King and the Black Emancipation, there were black Airmen in the American Army. Not only that, but he was treated as if he was some British Marshall or something. Lol, that is so political correct and historically incorrect that it remained a nuissance throughout the whole movie (and due to Hollywood tradition, the black guy simply doesn't die - On the countrairy, he even saves the protagonists's life -> TWICE) WTFH is going on here.
The action scenes are predicable and far from exciting. All non-action seems are so boring, you actually wonder why they are there.
And the Protagonist, protrayed by James Franco was also a nuissance. He falls in love with some French girl, and while some may see his disastrous flirting attempts as cute, most people (like me) will see them as frustrating and long-winded. Also, when he saves the chick from her village (as if the Germans would even touch her when they find her), disobeing his commanding officer TWICE, he gets a MEDAL for Heroism? Heroism? What Heroism? The WW1 Germans didn't kill every French Civilian they met, you know. On the contrairy, with FrancO Flying to his Chick, he actually ENDANGERS her... and gets DECORATED for it.
At this point, I simply switched the TV off. Too much is too much.
The whole movie is just a hollow ladder, which's sole use was to launch James Franco as a true action hero. Though I don't doubt Franco's capacities, I definately doubt his choice of Directors and Script Writers. Flyboys only confirmes this.

I thought the black dude was Algerian French?
Anyway, agreed on many of the points. The movie could have afforded to dig a lot deeper, though I still don't regret watching it.

Watchmen was a disappointment. I'm glad I didn't see it in the theaters.
It was over two and a half hours of scenes jumping all over the place, in which at the very end, the mastermind reveals everything in a big long monologue and the message behind it is just another boring utilitarian lecture under the flawed premise that the two powers would ever realistically nuke each other to begin with.

Yeah, agree with Corribus. I also enjoyed Watchmen. Also, what is it about national TV that sucks? I've heard a few people on my msn contact list from different countries complaining that it sucks. Seems Australia must have good TV then. lol

Well here is what (for the bulgarian one) - the national TV have a money problem, before 1989 (during the communism) it was one of the two channels on the TV, so people watched it just for that, since 1989 there are much more channels with new movies, policy and etc... the national one just get old and boring, nothing changed. They even lost the rights to show F1 and the world cup (football) + the national one (!). Also you can watch there all the boring speeches of politicians... news... and some cult soap movies like "The Bold and The Beautiful"

Perhaps that was weakly portrayed in the film but in the comics it was far from a remote possibility, you saw it happening step by step, you could feel it was coming. And each of the twelve issues featured the doomsday clock starting at 12 mins before midnight and counting. Unfortunately the movie failed to capture many of the notions the comics provide you with, simply too much information to convey.

Ok we all know recently there have been a lot of reviving of things from my childhood. Transformers, etc. Now they have a live action GI Joe (Rise of Cobra) and a Live Action Dragonball Z coming out. I am not a big fan of DBZ so I will probably miss that one, but anybody know anything about the GI Joe? No spoilers, but just if it is even worth watching.

The director is the guy that did the Mummy series and Van Helsing. Van Helsing was kind of corny, but the Mummy movies were really good. Denis Quaid is in the G.I. Joe movie (as Commander Hawk?), which seems like a pretty good fit. I think it will be worth watching but not amazing.

Anyone here watched Dororo? I heard they're gonna make some sequels to it in 2010 or something, but if it's true, then it took them some time (not as much as Terminator sequels tho ) since the original was released in 2007 I think.
