Movie about games are notoriously BAD, even worse then ones about books .  However, it is worth a look it seems.

Disney still knows how to make good movies.

Orlando Bloom would have been a great fit, but I guess it would be awkward to have him in it after doing 3 Pirates movies with them.

That was my original thought, movie adaptation yes but a Disney one. Orlando Bloom seemed good with a sword in pirates but that and lotr is good enough already

Possible Spoilers (but I don't think I give too much away)

GI Joe : Rise of Cobra.  A really good movie.  I was absolutely suprised at how good it actually was.  Sure it was a bit predictable, but I think that is just me.  Takes a lot to fool me, and believe it or not they even had a few twists that I didn't see coming!!!!  I like the casting, they all seemed to fit.  I would presonally recommend it.

Race to Witch Mountain. Lots of action, very predictable, but still good in my opinion.  I would recomend it IF you can subdue the voice in your head that screams about 'reality'.  If not, pass it up.  Would recommend for kids, despite some big explosions .

The Watchmen.  I am having to watch this again when I get home.  Not because it is 'good' (I don't know), but because I have NO clue what the heck was going on half the time.  Not in a good way either (ie they have suprises and twists I don't expect would be the good way.)
I was a bit lost watching this the first time, hoping take two will be better.

Take two didn't fare much better then take one.  So can't say if it is bad or good.  Hard to make a decision when you have NO clue what is going on in the movie.

I'm a bit surprised, there were many explanations about what is happening and why. Except Dr Manhattan teleporting to Mars just like that, felt random. Or his last decision on Mars that felt like a wordy 'ok you are right.' At any rate it is the kind of content you have to rethink about, put it in the right order to understand better.

Well, no it was unintentionally hilarious at some points and the killer looked like superman sometimes, but still I would only recommend it to people who can find humor in bad racial stereotypes, stereotypes of homosexual, several plot holes, and BAD and often unintentionally hilarious dialogue.

Here’s a more detailed explanation for what I didn’t like about the Watchmen.

I felt the whole premise is absurd. They attempt to make their alternate history seem realistic, but it was all just so ridiculous to me. The notion that the USA and USSR were on the verge of nuking the planet at any second was just dumb, and it was even dumber when they made Adrian’s idea seem logical. Like a common enemy would suddenly create a lasting alliance between the USA and USSR, or anybody. There would be a few years of things being cooler and then they would start to argue again.

I detected subtle, ridiculous anti-capitalist undertones in it. Some of the lines were just retarded, like the one businessman saying to Adrian, “Isn’t free just another word for socialist?” As if any top notch, millionaire businessmen would say something that dumb. It’s like reverse psychology: let’s represent people in an unrealistic and absurd way, and people will confuse it with the real thing. Hollywood is infamous for having a bunch of leftists fanatics, so I don't think it's just me overreacting. I'd bet good money they wanted to get inside the minds of the kids that would be watching it.

In terms of action, there was no real competition. Ink Face and Owl Man completely dominated any layman that they encountered. And all of them were basically helpless against Adrian except Dr. Manhattan, and then Adrian was completely helpless against Dr. Manhattan. There were no fights in the movie; there were just one-sided slaughters. Admittedly that’s a subjective criticism since it doesn’t take close fights to make a good movie, but I thought it was irritating how everything was consistently so futile and one-sided.

Adrian fights the Comedian, and the Comedian gets the crap beat out of him and doesn't land a single blow on Adrian

Ink Face beats up a bunch of criminals, the criminals don't land a single blow on Ink Face

The Owl beats up a bunch of people, and none of them land a single blow on him

The Owl and Ink Face team up against Adrian, neither of them land a single blow

Dr Manhattan shows up. Adrian can't do anything against him

Other than Dr. Manhattan, I don’t remember hearing any explanation for why the other Watchmen have their superhuman capabilities. It’s obvious they can do far more than a normal human being, so if they actually have no superpowers, then the movie is even dumber because it’s then completely over the top. But either way, you’re left in the dark over it. I guess you don’t need to know, but as an outsider I thought it was kind of annoying.

I felt like 1/3rd of the movie could have been cut out. There is a bunch of scenes of Ink Face or whatever just screwing around, and none of it is pertinent to the plot at all. They spend like 30 minutes between the Owl and that girl, just to build up to them doing it in the airship, and none of it is relevant at all. If several select scenes were skipped over, I wouldn't have been confused at all. I suppose the love between the Owl and that chick contributed to Dr. Manhattan's relationship with the chick and let us see how calmly he reacted to it all, but I still felt they dragged it out. It's like they forced it to be a long movie.

You didn't like because you didn't get it. Read the comic, it's worth it.

It was written during the Cold War. The blood-stained smiley, one of the recurring symbols in the book, also represents the Doomsday Clock. Dumb? The USSR was in Afghanistan at the time, while in the book the Reds go for neighboring Pakistan too... As improbable as planes crashing into the WTC must have seemed on 9/10.

Possibly. But that was the point, it won't work anyway... The editor of that right wing mag will publish Rorschach's journal and the world will learn the truth. As Dr Manhattan put it, "Nothing ever ends."

It was written by an English anarchist 25 years ago (the same guy who wrote "V for Vendetta").

Exactly as it was supposed to be. Dr Manhattan represents indifferent God, Adrian the pinnacle of humankind, while the others are masked crime fighters.

Yup, the others have no superpowers and the fight scenes are over the top. Elvin rationalized those elsewhere (the Tavern Chat, I think), but I agree with you.

It's all part of the deconstruction of superheroes - Watchmen is where it all began. Most of the events do contribute to the main plot too, e.g. the relationship between the Owl and the Spectre is what finally alienates Dr Manhattan from the humankind.

Oh, the "Ink Face" is actually called Rorschach, after the test... but you knew that.

Haven't seen the movi yet, but in the comic it's kinda rationalised as the girl's been training ever since she was born underher mother. Rorschach has also been picked upon by bigger kids until he was eleven( got into a lot of fights) and then it turns out he had an excellent aptitude for boxing. Nit owl... Not much of a fighter...
Adrian travelled the word and "learned martial arts in the east".

The reason why rorschach wins most fights is because he takes the element of surprise all the time (in the comics anyway) and uses his terrain to win most fights. Nite owl supposedly is like batman in that he has tons of gadgets. Neither of them have beaten up hordes of criminals as far as I can remember, at most three guys at once, I think... Anyway, I love the comics, but I'll return to this, once I watched the movies...

That movie has immense potential. I'm guessing it's a reverse of the typical alien invasion scenario, where humans are the ones invading a more primitive planet? A movie like that is overdue.

It wasn't that great of a trailer, but the movie itself looks like it could be excellent.

Some of the best trailers are the ones that reveal hardly anything about the movie. I remember for the Cloverfield trailer, they didn't even give us a name for the movie; it just gave a director. They just showed some people partying, there was a huge explosion, the head of the Statue of Liberty flew down the street and stopped in front of the camera, and the trailer ended. It made you want to know more. There are some trailers that go too far and show too much IMO.
