All drugs are dangerous by nature, aren't they?
So what do you mean by "dangerous" in this context?

If you keep drinking to chase your hangover away, isn't that lethal?

Depends, at least here in norway they put something in the alcohol to make you vomit before you drink yourself to death...

No, no.
Usually, if you awake with a big hangover, you'll not be completely sober anyway at that point. If your stomach is ok, at that point you'll want some hearty breakfast, like two dozen scrambled eggs with a side of bacon and a mountain of bread plus a gallon coffee. But primarily you are THIRSTY like nothing else, so you'll start with a bucket full of water or orange juice or something like that. If it was really bad, the coffee won't help much (caffein with lemon ain't that bad either, by the way): you'll still have a headache after that. Also, from the exertion the body suffered from all the toxins and now having to digest that breakfast to gain minerals and fluids back, you'll be (still) tired.

If you decide now to have a beer or two, after the second one you'll just go to sleep again, and sleep it off, and when you awake THIS time around, you'll feel a lot better.

My experiences? Parties are overrated, boring as hell. Beer tastes bitter and smells of piss, makes you smell of vomit after a couple cans. The stupid, giggling, half-naked, half-drunk girls are the reason you dream of being gay. Vodka is plain horrible, burns your throat and makes you sleep with men while being straight. (no, this one isn't my experience - fortunately).

I hate alcohol. I dislike parties. I like clubs, though - for the music, relaxation - I'm not much of a dancer but the bass shaking my ribs is something what I really like. Also sentimental values - the good old eurodance, like Loft, Fun factory and other crappy bands that brought us joy in Poland when we were 10yo kids. But I tend to evacuate as soon as the place starts stinking of piss and there is vomit everywhere. And cheap sex in the toilet.

The best "party" I attended to? It was a long time ago. The guys got so drunk they threw the party host's tv out the window. Fifth floor. It was so abstract and funny, lol. I was the only sober guy there, btw.

There you go.

To defend myself; I were pretty close to becoming an alcoholic .. that's why I cut seriously back. Sure a party or going out can be fun (and I agree, wtf is wrong with half naked girls?), but since most drink just to get drunk, it's pathetic. Most people drinking beer doesn't like the taste, but they think they look cool with a beer. Vodka makes you sick cause of something they've put in it-. If I remember right you can drink bunches of russian vodka without getting sick, cause they don't put the same stuff into it over there.

Not drinking doesn't make a person boring, you can be just as cool not drinking... I've barely been drinking any at all the last half year, and I bet I've still scored way more times while being sober

I like being drunk because I like the feeling. I get much more happier and I talk a lot more which is better than my usual self of just being the one to listen when in a group conversation.

That's not drunk, that's tipsy or mellow or whatever the correct name is: slightly intoxicated. "Drunk" means slurring, stumbling and so on.

Oh.

Then you'll be the only one who is happy with you, when you are drunk - except, of course other drunks, because they don't care either. People who are not slurring nor stumbling nor incoherently mumbling generally don't like that behaviour with others - one reason is, they may vomit over their shoes every moment, dump the content of their drink on some clothes or simply go down, insisting to everyone, that everything is okay.

If you like being drunk as in that, you have a mental problem and will end an alcoholic, if you aren't one already. The reason for this is that you like "to put yourself away", as a psychologist I know called it.

No offense, of course. It's your life.

No, I do not like vomiting nor spilling my drinks on people and going down and telling everyone I'm okay. I just like the feel of it. If I feel like I'm about to get sick then I quickly excuse myself and run to the toilet as soon as possible and haven't had any incidents of vomiting on people yet. The experiences I've had so far have generally been good, except waking up and feeling like crap half the time and sometimes vomiting but meh.

Guitarguy has also told me about this since he knows I have problems with self control and saying no to things but when it comes to drinking I usually control myself and know when to say no, probably because I'm afraid I'll do something stupid and something I'll regret and I want to stop that from happening. I do get to the drunk stage but not to the stage of absolutely snow faced or whatever.

I also won't end up as an alcoholic which is good because I don't drink that often, only when I'm with friends at one of their houses. I don't bring beer home with me and drink it at home, only with friends.

Yeah, well. I won't argue - not because I wouldn't believe you or something. It just makes no sense.

What made me think you would speak of being tipsy and not drunk was, that you said, "I talk more".
Slurring ain't talking - at least not, if not everyone is at the same stage of drunkenness.
If everyone is, though, "talking" is of no matter either, since in my experience it's just incoherent stammering - which doesn't matter, since everyone does it, but the bottom line is still, that it is of no consequence.
It's basically a general numbing down to a point where nothing is of any consequence anymore except the actual moment and the actual thought.

Next time, if you drink with your friends, do it a bit slower, so that you lag behind in drunkenness and have a good look at them, whether you like what you see.

I got drunk twice when I was 18 and I was disappointed with it. My senses were horrible and thinking was difficult, which I thought was frustrating. Haven't done it again and I don't have any plans to. I just don't get it.

I know this is going to end up offending people, but my honest opinion for most people is that they don't have a very well-tuned hobby life, so their greatest idea of fun is to burn themselves out during the weekend. It also numbs both physical and more importantly mental pain, which I can understand would also be appealing for lots of us young folks, being frequently conflicted and such.

Oh my god ? About half of the posters in here don't like getting drunk!
That just tells me how bad it is for Denmark!! WOW!!
I don't know any one between 15 and 28 hwo doesn't enjoy parties and to be drunk.. So big difrence on that part between countries Damn..

No I think it's a huge part of destroying yourself.
Maybe because when you're older you appreciate yourself more?

And no alcohol is certainly "not fun" -- I wouldn't call something that makes me not aware/sober fun at all, no matter how you put it. And I stay away from drunk parties more than junkies.

Destroying your self at the cost of lot of fun! You don't have to waste yourself, you just need to hit the dizzy part of being drunk. Just to feel that you can do everything! Huge beats from the sound system, lots of people talking and drinkin.. WHat's not to like?

So you prefer to be a junkie than drunk..? Your kind of strange (Sorry)

TA said it best to cure hangovers. Drink lots and lots of water before you go to bed. And TheDeath, drinking is, for me, just a way to get more social and loosen up and have a bit more fun. Have you ever tried it at all or are you just saying these things with no experience whatsoever?

Have tried, i just puke it all up again!..

See, I never understood why ingesting so much foul tasting poison that you lose all control over your physical and mental functions, only to spend the entire next day vomiting and sitting on a couch with a volcanic headache and a horrible taste in your mouth, "enjoying your life".  As I said: not worth it.  If you've got to be wasted at a social get-together in order to enjoy it, then I'd rather just go somewhere else where I get to, you know, actually talk to people without my words coming out sounding like I accidentally impaled my tongue on a syringe filled with lidocaine.
Totally worth it,!! I wish i could invite you to one of the two parties in this weekend, i'll bet they get huge! And then i'll make you all like it..!!

-------

I can't remember hwo in this thread hwo said that vodka is some of the best, and then named it Smirnoff?!?!? ARe you insane? Smirnoff has nothing to do with real vodka! Smirnoff is vodka yes, but not something you can enjoy without tons of juice or soda!!
A real vodka either comes from Poland or France!! (Worlds two best, both by votings, and my own vote).. I wish i could remember the name on the worlds best.
But the second best i remmeber is

EDIT# I whant to share this with you ;p It was my last weekend, which is the reason for me to create this thread!
I got too drunk, and i had my worst hangover ever!
And because of what?

For you maybe, but not for others. For me, I have a ot of hobbies, I just choose to have a good time with my friends. That's all. If drinking is a part of that, and it usually is then that's fine. I can handle myself fine especially with my friends because we all look out for each other and not everybody gets drunk there so it's all good. And doomforge if you hate drinking so much, why would you enter a thread that has to do with alcohol? Not trying to start an argument just curious.

Threads do need people who don't like something, else it quickly turns into same old mutual adoration society babbling how good and cool something is, don't you think?
