I find this very disturbing
So today I was reading Swedens biggest newspaper - Aftonbladet. And I was very disturbed by one article.
In New Zeeland, there would be a public vote to decide if you could beat up your children or not. I thought this was horrible. But the worst shock came later.
It stated that Sweden was the first country to forbid all violence against children but yet like 130 countries in the world had it LEGAL to destroy the lifes of your kids. -.-
We do not live in the medieval ages. I thought that most countries had it illegal to use all kinds of violence
And it doesnt feel nescessary. If you are a psycho and tortures your kid then I dont only hate you forever (gz) but you are a failed and bad parent that cant solve a conflict without using violence.
You dont even deserve to have children, they should be sent to adoption in Sweden.
I had no idea that so many countries considered it okay to torture your children in 2009. I found it very disturbing.

Let me guess, another provocation/troll topic...
Oh well, anyway...
Relax kid. "beating" doesn't mean "torturing". Spoiled brats can be terrorists in families, to a point where nothing can actually work rather than a few slaps. I guess you have never seen it in your kinda sheltered life though, haven't you...

No. In Sweden any violence against children is illegal. I dont know what kind of sick country Poland is if the parents dont have a clue how to raise their children and need to torture them. -.-
I would hate my parents if they hit me and would only want revenge. And this is not a troll topic. This is serious. It makes me really sad and sick.

I'm sorry but...
Xerdux, you are the ultimate proof, that parents should be allowed to beat up their kids.

I don't want to break the CoC, but I really have to agree with Vokial.
But hey, let's forget about xerox for a while, because such thinking is NOT uncommon everywhere in "civilized world"... and... people either stick to it because their kid turns out a little angel.. or.. like my sister.. have to change their thinking.
I was like dying out of laugher when she calmly tried to explain something to her son while he was almost cursing her and trying to hit her
his "stressless" childhood made him a little spoiled brat (7yo). But wait, he's also a coward and he's brave only against his gentle mother.
Of course xerox will come and write she doesn't know how to raise a kid... right... as if you knew. Lmfao. Believe it or not, xerox, some people are like that. If you're kind, they'll just **** on your face. You have to use their language of arrogance to make them listen.
And I really hope you will learn it one day THE HARD WAY.

Most of the people I know in RL were physically punished as children. I wasn't. So there's nothing I can say about it either way.

You can't really slap a noisy guy in a movie theater, so I guess that it's only "fair" that it's not legal to slap your kids for the same reason either.
Then again the guy in the theater wouldn't be so noisy if his parents had given him a good slap whenever he made too much noise in the wrong places.
There is a big difference between domestic abuse and corporeal punishment, but the latter was banned because it had started to turn to the former a bit too easily. Babies that looked like they had been beaten started turning up in the hospitals and what do you know, they had been beaten. It wasn't long after that when corporeal punishment was banned in Finland.

IMO beating a child isn't a good way to raise children (not that I know anything about it, though), as there usually are other things you can do, but then again there are a lot worse thing you can do to a kid, like Doomforge mentioned in his post.

My father used to tie ropes around my body and strap them to horses. Then the horses walked in opposite directions. He told me to stop screaming, but I yelled anyway. He was disappoint.
My father was a drinker, and a fiend. One night, my father and mother were in an argument, and he was crazier than usual. He attacks my mom, and she grabs the kitchen knife to defend herself. Me watching, he grabbed the blade from her. Then he looked at me. "Why so serious?" He turned the blade to me, and sticks the blade in my mouth. And then... "Why so serious?"
He was disappoint.

Two things to say. First of all a few slaps never hurt anyone and can work fine to discipline a spoiled brat. I do not support violence but that is another thing. Secondly bliz is awesome.

No, you can talk instead. Or put a password on the computer as a punishment.
Or not buy candy on the friday/saturday. This is horrible and the chld would just hate the parents.
No, you fail as a parent if you cant a raise a kid without torturing it.
