Quote: thank you Simonak for the link.maybe you can do something with the 1.5.6 to fix load saves problem
What is "the load saves problem"? I have a problem where ToE often crashes, especially on large maps, when I try to load from a save file while in a active session. Annoying, but I can start ToE again and load the file ok.
Don't think this has anything to do with RTMG though. I was getting the same problem on some large maps I had downloaded.
Suspect it is a memory leak problem.
i have this crash problem when i try load saves with any map ,no especially large.but with 1.5.5 is ok.i hope Simonak can fix this with 1.5.6 too
is that your saved game is ok when you load it after have restarted H5?
I'm talking expecially for 1.5.6
of course, a game from 1.5.5 can crash after the use of 1.5.6 caused by RTMG.pak changing.
for my share, I have the same troubles that dale has spoken, no more, no less.
also, if you want to load a RTMG saved game, try to start the game from RTMG.
at worst, you can give me your map and your saved file, so i will be able to touch better your problem.
I cannot fix a bug if I'm not able to reproduce it!

Is there a way of blocking certain artifacts and/or spells from the map?
The type of map that is generated can get severely broken (i.e. one-sided) if a player gets hold of the spell "instant travel" or the artifact "Wings of the Angel".
I am aware that the properties page has the ability to block spells and artifacts. After the initial random map generation by RMG, I've tried opening the map editor and checking all but these two.
However, when I ran RTMG to do its thing on that map, RTMG still added Wings of the Angel to the map even though it was supposed to be blocked.
The spell "instant travel" did not appear in the magic guild of the towns. I'm not sure that it was blocked from all of the magic shrines, but did not observe it on playing the map.

Hi dale,
all is possible to make with the computer science magic.
However I will not to do all.
make to be able to block certain artifact ask a lot of job yet.
(new windows displaying the checkable list of artifacts....and spells + adding code etc etc)
I don't feel to make that.
especially when I want to stop to work for the RTMG.
in another side,
RTMG does not discriminate with artifacts, spells, creatures etc....
all of them have the right to be there.
moreover in a RTMG map, a player has the right to be more lucky than other players...
this is the pure random philosophy....
if he finds a powerful artifact as « Angel Wing »...better for him.
he becomes the man to beat. that's it.
after all, everybody may win the jackpot at the lotery.
if you want to block certain artifacts or spell into RTMG maps.
you would block them in the editor after the RTMG generation map. not before.
probably, you want to be able to block instant travel spell into magic guilds
but about artifacts, I don't know....I mean..surely they will not buyable in black markets..
but if the artifact is outside in the land....i don't know if the editor will be able to block that.
or artifacts given by creatures stack, also.
but if you uncheck « Remix Artifacts » option, none of relic will appears in the map....
because in-game RMG doesn't put relic in the map

Understand -- just thought I'd mention it. I will get into the habit of searching the RTMG final map for "wings" and delete them.

Along that same line -- on a map I just generated (8 players, 16 regions, no water, no underground), I observe a considerable range in the strength of the stacks that guard the two way monoliths which are the exit from home territories. One of them had only 70 grand elves. At the other extreme, 46 acid hydras, 70 ravagers, 105 minatour kings, 157 blood witch, and 235 stalkers.

mmh, tests on small maps as 176 and less have been weak.
sometimes, creatures stacks on them are overpowered.
I especially tested 176 and more.
biggest are home territories, less creatures are powerful.
as you must know, generally, connections are enough easy to beat.
but yes, there is possible to have a glitch about a too strong connection.
the best is make the easiest connection and wait to be stronger to make the other.
however, I think is enough rare a too strong connection.
don't forget too the random cannot always guarantee 100% the perfectly calculated map!

This was a 256x256 size map, my favored size:-}}
The good news about such an overpowered stack is that once I can defeat it, I get a lot of experience points. When the overpowered stack is non critical (e.g. getting out of home ground), that extra XP is a good thing.
I can always take a look in map editor and adjust or regenerate if I think the guardian stack is too overpowered.

Can't random map generator make maps and bigger than 320/320 and is this only possible for TOTE, not normal HOMM5 or HOF?

Anyone? Is there a mod that allows for maps bigger than 320/320 to be played? One thing that annoys me in homm 5 is, you seem to do alot more walking then battling as they station creatures so far apart from each other, is there a way of getting the map editor to fill the gaps, meaning add more creatures all over.

sorry for my last absence,
I'm really taken in the real life.
RTMG doesn't care of mapsize...it doesn't manage it.
however, if you have a map bigger than 320, RTMG will be able to transform it to "RTMG map"
so, you can create (if that is possible, and I dont know how yet) a bigger than 320 map
and giving that to the RTMG if you want for "RTMGfying".
why not the possibility to create over 320 mapsize...but the anwser is not here!
moreover, welcome to the powerful machine to accept the heavy loud playing of this kind of map....

320x320 maps are already too big to play since there are no as effective ways to travel in H5 as in H3 for example.
But if you complain about empty maps, try Idan's Random Map geneartor (IRMG). It will spawn more objects than you ever be able to visit

Thank you for the reply, you are right you do need quite a powerful computer, well I guess I can live without massive maps, just the map needs to be filled more, there's just too many gaps, and by the way you done a great job old man .

I wholeheartedly agree. When you say objects do you mean resources/artifacts/relics etc, or do you mean dwellings? I just want alot more monsters guarding stuff. Map just feels so empty and takes ages to get from one creature to another.

thanks for your first reply here, dear Warmonger.
just boring your text.
IRMG is too poor yet, a lot of work is required to reach the RTMG level.
moreover, RTMG maps offer really more objects to visit.
Surely you never try it with what you said.
Take the time to read the manual. RTMG provides it.

Simo, get back to work, NOW!!! By the way I've tried searching for 'IDAN' in this forum using the search facility but I haven't come accross it. Anyone got the link?

Guys, I've just downloaded RTMG and I am a little confused of how it works. I cannot make teams in the map - only FFA. Can someone explain how exactly I should operate with RTMG to enable teams? All seems fine until I generate the map from the RMG in H5.

Hi just_godlike
to make teams in RTMG maps, you must set teams in settings window before
to push on "Generate" button
then, teams will be applied to the map choosen with the generate button.
players having same team number will make same team.

Yes, that is exactly what I do. But when I generate the map in RMG, it becomes FFA. Here is what I do for 2v2 map - . Please tell me what I do wrong.

probably you don't perfect understand how RTMG works.
RMG ingame only makes FFA maps.
once you have generated the map in RTMG, it ready to play.
when you are in the RTMG AdvMap tab, that means your map is already been generated by RMG ingame.
look the manual.
ALSO: you cannot add more players in the map than the map contains of. if in the begining your map has 2 players, then that makes nothing to set team for 3th and 4th players.....because the map has only two players. RTMG doesn't add players. set the map with 4 players before to use the RTMG generation.

Once you get to know Simonak's RTMG, you'll create 320x320 maps full of monsters , dwellings, objects, etc..
