Quote: I hope I can eventually learn how to walk right in that...but does anyone know if there will be a BG3 or something? I'd like to see another along the same lines as that...but different
I doubt there will a BG3 as such as the storyline was kind of finished with the add on Throne of Bhal (which was excellet). I would like to see a simlar gameplay style brought back as opposed to 3d in NWN though. Some little bird did tell me that IWD 2 is coming soon and i'm assuming that will be similar in style.

Hope for the future
I shall revive this thread because there is hope for the future. So many years have gone past and yet still people long for that which Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale gave us. These game were fun and imaginable and had an overall cohesion that gave gamers back the adventurous spirit from the days when Bilbo Baggins stepped out of his door and thought to himself: "Bilbo Baggins, going out your door is a dangerous business. If you don't keep your feet there's no knowing where you might be swept off to!"
Sure there's NeverwinterNights and other D&D simulated games but what was it about these games that was so great and wonderful? Can anyone truly answer that question? I'd wager not because the true adventurer wastes not and wants not in the business of time.
I have looked at the latest issue of gaming monthly and seen the latest infinity engine look-alikes. This new graphicly superior engine is far more beautiful and complex but is bugged to hell and it seems to plague gamers with unusually tedious fed-ex missions. On top of that the entire game is actually turn-based. Who the hell came up with that rediculous idea? Turn-based infinity engine look-alike? Gimme a break.
The point to all this is that many people today still want to relive a wonderful rpg like Baldur's Gate with all the newest technology. Does that mean we have to go 3d? Nope. I shall remain ever vigilant in my hope for another wonderful rpg in the world of the mythical Forgotten Realms.

The people who created Baldur's Gate etc. These games were riveting. The plot was fantastic. It was like watching a suspense thriller while playing a game at the same time. I remember the first time I started up Baldur's Gate 1 and watching the opening credits and when Gorion died. I was really interested. And then going to the mines. That was really hard the first time I ever played. Kobald Commandos would always pick off one of my guys with their damn fire arrows. And all time you were wondering what is happening, what strange plot is behind all of this. And then you got there finding out what really happened. You're questions were finally answered. But the answers only led to more questions. Questions that were only more intriguing and even harder to answer.
So by this time you are led to finding out that this mage was contaminating the mines to corner the market on iron. But this was just another conspiracy covering up another one. It's like watching a suspense movie except that you're the detective. You're the star of the movie. That's what is so amazing about Baldur's Gate. The story of those games could be sold as novels in a book store. They could be made into motion pictures and played at movie theatres. There is a market for it. Just look at the movies Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.
I'd go to watch Baldur's Gate the movie. It's a fantastic story all in its own. And we have the special effects technology to make all the spell casting look real.
With these types of games, a good plot will go a LONG way. A GREAT plot will go farther.

Yes a Plot is very important to the game but I don't like it when the game is more of a movie than a game.

Very true. This certainly wasn't more of a movie than a game. It gave you pieces of the movie as you progressed in the game which kept it really interesting. One thing I do like however. In Baldur's Gate 2 you can lower the difficulty if you are stuck and it will take too long to level up or get better items and you've already fought and lost the battle like 10 times.

Hey RedsoxFan3
That's actually what I'm trying to do. I don't care if it takes the rest of my life I intend to make baldur's gate into a movie. I've read the book and played the games over and over. To me it's the greatest. That's my personal project before I die.

BG1EE - was much more better for myself in the terms of story.
BG2EE - is better in terms of gameplay, but along with it a lot of "well-directed nonsense" exist there.
In short, both games are not good as I expected, but this D&D system is cool .
I played in both, on the maximum possible difficulty with SCS and Tactics for EE mod installed.
And now I want to play in BG2EE at this new LoB difficulty, was someone tried that?

Resurrecting a thread which had been deceased for 13 years is quite an act of necromancy.
I always wanted to get into the Baldur's gate games, but I could never handle the real time with pause system. Everything about it felt horrible. I would absolutely play these games to death if they were turn-based.

On the bright side, you can solo bg2. It is far less awkward when you control one character but you'd need some experience to pull it off. You'd miss a lot of the game's experience too.

Lol....
BG2EE 1.3.2, + SCS (max difficulty set) + Tactics for EE, + Insane difficulty, = = = > Thaxxxl Shillaya Dragon with 10-12th lvl party.
All your buffs, and "throws" will help for your party to stand right
for 1-2 seconds more .
In the new version, on LoB difficulty, perhaps your party will stand for 0,5 sec more .

I have a hell no idea why peoples playing solo - this is super mega sux.
The point of whole gameplay, - that you have party of followers. In my case that was Jan the goblin-mechanic with a crossbow, those crazy braindamaged Druid, and other formidable guys.
Besides, with the above mentioned configuration, and the LoB difficulty - it is almost impossible, well I think, it is just impossible .
