The mathematical changes to skills and specializations are all done in the defaultstats.xdb in the gamemechanics folder. Since this file also contains many other changes important for the new class system and the AI it is not easy to seperate them, but it is easy for anyone to modify the defaultstats.xdb to your own liking (this was one of the easiest parts of the mod to create). If you also like the AI changes my advice would be to download this mod:
http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=27296&pagenumber=1
After downloading open it with 7zip or winrar and edit the defaultstats.xdb manually.
EDIT: I forgot to add: using this mod as base also makes the creation process faster because you don't need to setup the folder structure of the mod.

...The folder doesn't seem to exist, and I can't find the file. Could it be named something else? And is there any other way to make the edits?
EDIT: Perhaps it's one of the .pak files? In that case, which one could it be, and how do I open and edit a .pak file?

Exactly:
GameMechanics\RPGStats\defaultstats.xdb
In 7Zip you can right-click on defaultstats.xdb and choose edit

I heard there were some issues with the downloads yesterday, I believe it was because of busy servers. I couldn't download myself either but now everything seems fine.

Hi Magnomagus,
First allow me to compliment on you what a great mod you've made. You've reignited my interest in playing H5 again because of the work you've done and I'd like to thank you for that.
I have question about editing the AI though. I'd like to edit the AI so that it recruits two heroes for each town that it has. (I think at the moment it only recruits one per town.) Is it possible to do this?
Thanks!

Hi Willow
Quote: I have question about editing the AI though. I'd like to edit the AI so that it recruits two heroes for each town that it has. (I think at the moment it only recruits one per town.) Is it possible to do this?
This is changed in defaultstats.xdb:
<HireHeroesBase>1</HireHeroesBase>
<HireHeroesPerTown>1</HireHeroesPerTown>
I should warn you that increasing these values can make AI turn speed very slow.

Thanks! I'll give it a try, perhaps take a tea break in between turns.

Please magnomagus, or anyone else. Where can one find any topic, website, or download for TE edition of H5? I tried to search it, but without luck. Thank you.

First of all : Great Mod!
thankyou magnomagus for making this mod.
I want to report few bugs that i found :
1. Luck/Morale bonus does not apply
I play on some (pre existed / standart) multi player map. Large map with 3 other computer AI player. My hero have the luck skill. Later in the game (turn 40++) i notice that my creatures never land lucky hit. In combat, when i right-click on all my creatures, their morale and luck is zero.
Reload the aoutosave wont solve the problem. Exit the game and start it again (load the autosave) will resolve the problem. Now after restarting the game my creatures properties is : +2 morale +7 luck. My creatures start landing lucky hit.
2. Application crash
Continuing my 1st game (above). Some turn later every time i end-turn, the game crashes (AppCrash). No matter how differently i play the last autosave (move to another direction, build another, not moving or do anything at all), the next turn will always crash. Even running the exe as administrator won't help.
So i start new game, different race, different maps (still large one) with 6 player. Everything works fine until later in the game (turn 50 or 60, i forgot to write it down), the AppCrash problem shows again.
right now i'm in the process of re-installing the game
so, anybody have the same problem?
here's my condition :
windows 7 64-bit
core2duo processor with 4 gig RAM
ati 4850 vga
heroes 5 TOE patched to 3.1
using "large text box" mod
using RPE 1 mod, ashan core with all additional addons applied
i'll report if my reinstalling the game fix this problem

@Problem 1: I think I had this problem once too, but it was very long ago, so not with RPE. Can you tell me which class you were playing and if you also had installed the old TE scripts.
@Problem 2: H5 TOE is not a very stable game and the mapeditor is even worse. This is also true for unmodded TOE, but it seems to become more unstable with mods and playing large maps. There is unfortunately nothing I can do about the crashes, but a faster computer helps.
Personally I have very few crashes. Roughly ~1 in 3 hours gameplay, but my system specs are quite similar to yours so I'm surprised you have issues. Maybe you can try to run the single turn you need to pass with the normal exe and change to RPE in the next turn.

I get consitant crashes when trying to recuit a hero on the tavern screen. I can recuit some heroes fine w/o crashes, but when I move the cursor over other heroes my game crashes. Could the random crashes also be linked to when the AI hires a "Crashed" hero?

This is realy a great mod, but I`m a little bit sad, because it is not compatible with the unique heroes appearence mods. The problem is:
I don`t know anything about modding, so I cannot make the appearence mods compatible myself. Is there an easy way to make it compatible? A short point-to-point-instruction would be nice... ^^

@moonstryder:
I tried to reproduce your bug, but I couldn't. I opened the tavern screen and clicked like a maniac everywhere and also hired many heroes but no crashes. Maybe the bug is related to a specific map.
@Rosendorn:
You have to modify the 'hero files' in the mapobjects folder
They contain lines that start with:
model, animset,herocharacter & creaturevisual, those lines need to be exactly the same as they are in the specific unique hero you want to implement in RPE. Of course you also need to add the textures to the archive.

I added the textures to the ashen core file and modified its hero files. But when I start the H5_RPE_Game.exe it only loads the standard TOE. Your hero edition don't want to start anymore.

It sounds like you archived it the wrong way. It must be a zip with .h5u extension.

I renamed the ashencore file to .zip, extracted it, modified the hero files, added the textures, packed it as .zip and renamed it to .h5u
But it still don`t work...
As a test I renamed the original ashencore to zip, extracted it, packed it to zip without modding it, and renamed it to h5u. It should be the same file as yours, it is h5u again, but the file don`t work either. Perhaps something with the changedate of the file?

I think I once had a similar problem a long time ago, but it was not related to filedates. Somehow my HOMM5 didn't want to read mods because they were still recognized as .zip after their extension was changed to .h5u. Perhaps you should try to open regedit and use its search function to remove the registry keys related to the .h5u extension.
