Combat Crashes
I've come across an error where the game crashes when I battle certain heroes or certain stacks. I can't identify a pattern, since they're not specific heroes or creatures, just random ones.
RPE is the only mod I have installed and I use RMGT maps. Could it be it's just a simple incompatibility between the two?

Hard to say with the info you provide, it doesn't seem to be a compatibility issue. If the game crashes before the battle starts there may be some materials missing.

Hmmm, I think I know what it might be... I forgot I also have New Arenas Plus by Zenithale in my UserMODs folder. It seems that the game crashes on snow terrain, so I'm thinking there might by a problem with one of the snow arenas.
EDIT:
I tested the Arenas, it's not that. Will try a reinstall and see if that works.

I just found out the HOMM online forum has new HQ versions of all H3 hero portraits in the avatar section, they look much better than H3 or H4 ripoffs:

Great, great mod, new game, whatever!
Keeps crashing sometimes... Like when loading autosaves or campaign missions, but well, it's a homm game afterall!
NOTE: Orlando's iron lord speciality is not very effective: At level 2, it does 1 (!!!) bonus fire damage...
Is there an update to the 0.9 version? Please edit it into the intro post then.
Overall, amazing, AMAZING work! Suddenly it is fun to play academy again without having to all go artificier!

I already made it more powerful than TOE, but I will check if something is wrong.

First post, a plea for help.
Hello everyone, first-time poster here. Good to be amongst you all.
I really love this mod, original H5 was a bit bland, boring and repetitive in my opinion (only 1 hero class per faction, always same tactic with each faction etc). Nothing about the mod is annoying me.
What is, is some weird bugs that occur for me. I can try to get a screenshot later, but I'll just try to explain what happens and hope you understand and know a way to fix it.
I already have tried to play the game with only RPE core, the .exe files and the data pack in my game folder, no change. But I do think it worked when I installed the mod for the very first time, maybe some other addons made it go insane. Reinstalling the mods (redownloading aswell) did nothing.
Some heroes shown in the manuals are not avaiable at all, but that may be if the map is not allowed to use them. That can be changed with the map editor I believe.
Some heroes are seriously bugged, for example the Necropolis heroes Reaver Deirdre and Reaver Naadir both have Naadirs' logo, their specialties are wrong (Deirde has Banshee Howl as special, whooppee, Naadir has Avatar of Death). They both also start with Basic Blood Rage and Basic Dark Magic. Really, BBR with a Necro hero?
Similiar hero picture/hero specialty/hero class bugs occur for the following heroes:

Inferno:
Grawl- Keeps doing the victory cheer animation when inspected (hero stats window), also keeps on cheering endlessly during combat. No stat bugs.
Actually, all the Inferno heroes with the original Demon Lord skin aswell as the other demon lord skin that looks most like the original have the cheering bug. Agrael skins work fine. Orlando aswell.
Alastor has an Arch Devil as his model during map screen and battle screen, looks really awful. Won't even move right, just floats.

Sylvan:
Wyngaal is a Warden when choosing heroes before a game, also his specialty is Swift Striker, that is his original specialty without this mod. If you choose Wyngaal, ingame he is a Crystal Dragon skin, and his class is Paladin. That is just weird.

Academy:
All heroes work fine, except they have two extra heroes.
Talanar, his photo is of a Runemage, his specialty is Thunderbringer. Ingame he looks like an Archmage.
Svea, Stormcrow. Same ingame model bug as above.

Fortress:
Fort is missing two Flamekeepers, only Brand and Erling are avaiable. Wulfstan won't be avaiable for most of the maps, and when he is, his specialty is Thunderhammer, so he has rune of thunderclap on all the time. Also his starting skills are Basic Runelore and Logistic+Pathfind, even he is an Engineer.
Stronghold has no bugs, neither has Dungeon or Haven.
Sorry for the long post, I just really want to get rid of this madness so I could enjoy the mod better. Thanks in advance for replies.

@Ardon: Do you have any downloaded custom maps in your maps folder? If so, try removing them (temporarily).
EDIT: Now I have seen the screenshots, I'm sure at least one lord of the rings map is causing problems (gandalf's specialty). But there may be more maps involved. Take in mind custom maps often contain modded content to create special characters.

Yes, that solved the problem, thanks a million times magnomagus! I'd never have guessed that myself (or maybe after a very long time).
From now on I'll make sure that the maps I download don't have anything special. If they do, I'll just have to play them and remember to throw them away from the map folder when I play normal maps

I have already continued working on the project, I'm just busy in RL.
The next version will have the bugs and balance issues solved (as much as possible) and have the possibility (non-obligatory install) to use axeoth heroes instead of ashan heroes. The focus of the mod will stay on the RPG, gameplay and balance aspects of the game because new creatures are already dealt with and new factions are impossible. RPE+NCF+RTMG should be closest to a 'WOG for H5' as it can get.

Is there anything that can be done to speed up the AI turns? This has always been a painful process.
I run Vista 64, with 4 gigs of ram and a 3.4 quadcore processor. Yet I don't even enjoy playing maps that have 7 computer opponents because often everytime I end a day it takes longer to go through the computers turns then my entire turn most of the time... Each turn pretty much takes as long as all the computer opponents from Heroes 3 combined and its a really irritating wait especially when you have a short turn. This has always been one of my biggest gripes about Heroes 5, no idea why it takes the computer longer to do their turns then it does sometimes to do one of my turns.
