Bloomburg's war on soda may lead to more cancer. As is often the case, liberal "good intentions" in mandating how others should live often leads to disastrous results.

Except that the war isn't against caffein, but against sugar, right? Also, when they say rwo "cups" of coffee, they don't mean litre pots, and when they say "per day", they don't mean per order.
In short, I do not think, smaller sized containers for beverages in public service places will increase the risk of skin cancer, and the mere suggestion is ... well. Pick something.

But he banned large sodas, and those drinks have caffeine. Saying his control of what others drink could result in people getting cancer because they did not consume the caffeine they otherwise would have is no more ridiculous than saying preventing someone from drinking a large soda at the movie theaters will keep them from getting fat. The policy is merely sugary liberal "feel-goodism" in a big-sized cup of elitism. "I know what is best for you and I'm going to force you to do it." I think such policies are what need to be banned, not large sodas.

With movement being a prime ward against becoming fat, it's clear that school is the reason for children getting fat, because school not only forces kids to sit still, it also punishes moving around. Considering the minimal educational effects school obviously has, as most people are born dumb and die not much cleverer, school should be abolished.
School is just another one of those liberal Marxist plots to inseminate their warped world view into the minds of unsuspecting, trustful free individuals in order to corrupt decent, god-fearing folks.

The dems are pushing for legal status of illegal aliens. The estimated cost of such a thing is $6.3 trillion as 11+ million new people become eligible for "free" stuff from Uncle Sam.

This is something I think about a lot when it comes to free migration. I think a solution could be to tie access to wellfare services to citizenship. Citizenship in turn would require self-sustainment. However, I have been under the impression that the idea in the US was to offer legal status to working people staying illegaly in the country.

Ok, but illegals don't pay taxes, right? So once they become legal they will have to return something. If you have such big amount of illegals in US, maybe would be more beneficial at long term to include them in, even if the legalizing process is expensive at start.

Corribus, if congress is going to do anything for the remainder of Obama's term, then these filibustering snowheads need to be kicked out come 2014. I for one want to see us get out from under the tyranny of the minority. I bet Elodin feels the same way too, albeit for different reasons....
Edit: Speaking of a nanny state update, anyone else going to pay attention to the SCOTUS ruling regarding the case that challenges DOMA? I wonder...which political party pushed that legislation in the first place?

Liberal poster boy Bill Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act. He is now in favor of of allowing a tiny minority to dictate what marriage is instead of defending the historic institution. Tyranny of the minority indeed.
In 1996, to stop liberal judges from redefining marriage for everybody Congress overwhelming passed and Clinton gladly signed DOMA.
It affirmed the definition of marriage this nation has always had and which the Western states dominated by Mormons had to accept to join the US. And DOMA said states that have the normal definition of marriage don't have to recognize same-sex "marriage" from other states.
Of course with liberal Messiah Bummaster in office the libbies are pushing to force as much liberalism down everyone's throat as possible before libs lose the WH.

Equal protection under the law in no way means that a person has the right to define marriage however he wishes too. The same founding fathers who wrote the Constitution wrote laws against gay sex and bigamy.
There is however, already a thread for debating marriage and the right of an extremely small percentage of the population to redefine marriage to debate that in.
