I havn't used any of your formulas for my list to be honest. I don't care about the price. I care about usefullness on battelfield, and when I can get them....nothing else.
And the "easy to get" is not only refered to the fact they only need ONE kind of resources besides wood and ore, but also to the fact u can build their dwelling pretty early, coz they only require level2 and level5 dwell prebuilt...and that could be done day 2.
All other level 7 dwellings require much more dwellings prebuilt...and much more resources aswell. Just imagine how many resource each kind u need before u can build red dragon dwell, green dragon dwell, giant dwell...and then additional to that, u need the resources for the level 7 dwelling itself. So I don't think any level 7 unit is "cheaper" and easier to get than the Ancients...
One more aspect is, the special building where u can get the needed resources from (dwarven treasury) is pretty easy to attack and can be done early aswell.

Here's mine:
lvl 1: Centaur Captains - who cares if they're expesive? They ROCK!
lvl 2: Marksmen
lvl 3: Gotta love grand elves!
lvl 4: Vampire Lords. Thanks to no retal and life drain, they're vitually undefeatable.
lvl 5: tied between thunderbird and power lich.
lvl 6: Naga Queens
lvl 7: Archangels, obviously.
As you can see, I really like shooters.

Hey,
this is my first comment as a user on this board. Been playing this game for ages though. :-)
Level 1: Skeleton. Especially with Vidomina. I never loose with her, I just kill alot of throngs, hordes etc. of level 1-2 creatures and get payed in skeletons 1 for 1. I usually get huge armies, and am unbeatable with 'animate dead' and expert earth magic. There is nothing as good as getting for example 1k skells after a hard battle.
PIC to illustrate size: ]
Level 2: Obsidian Gargoyle. It's quite resistant and hard to kill in swarms. I usually use them to annoy the enemy... the enemy spends time killing them, while I slowly get control over the battleground. This choice may be a surprise for alot of you, due to the moderate sight on the gargoyle, but the use of the gargoyles has been rewarding for me. You must understand that I don't consider the gargoyle to be very useful for attacking, for me it's only functioning as "victim"...
Level 3: To be rational the best level 3 is the Royal Griffin. It's hard to kill in throngs+, it hits okay and IT CAN FLY! Wehuuuw. And even far; 9 spots.
But my favourite level 3 is the Grand Elf. It killllllllllllssss. And at the same time it's pretty, hehe. The upgrade from standard Elf is important to get the double-shot. If you got the right shooterproctectors the Grand Elves are a marvelous force! Sometimes they aren't as rewarding as you were hoping for though. If the enemy gets first hit with lots of devils/dragons and kills like 100-200 precious elves, I get pretty angry :-)...
Level 4: I find that the Arch Mage, Medusa Queen and Vampire Lord are hard to choose between. But I'm gonna go with the Vampire Lord, cuz I'm mainly a necromancer. It resurrects according to how much it slays... how nice is that??
Level 5: ARRRRRGH. This is hard. All the level 5's except for the genie owns big time! I'd say the Zealot, when well procected, like here: ]Zealot_proctected
If not Zealot or Power Liches, but a non-shooter, I would say the Mighty Gorgon. It's strong and hard to hit. And then that lovely haze...
Level 6: I think the dread knight is better than the level 7 of Necropolis, but I guess alot of you think the same. Dread knight is the best level 6 in my opinion, with only the Efreet Sultan as close opponent. The dread knight is fast, makes double-damage often and it is thick-skinned =)!
Level 7: Uh-oh. I feel like I have to say the Archangel, but I'm not going to. The Titan is magnificent. The only shooter level 7 and it hits good hand-to-hand aswell. I find myself having alot of them when I play Tower, because I'm usually Tower when it's a big map, and then I sooner or later get to control 2-4 Tower-bases. 40+ Titans and I'm a happy man!
Best regards

3. Grand elves - they also kill stuff good.
4. Vampire lords - they rule
5. Mighty Gorgons - no brainer here
6. Naga Queens - almost tied with dreads but the no retal wins it.
7. Archangels - for the ressurection, it is freaky!

Hi Minatory
Thats a really strong hero you got there (Halon), however his skills are not the ones I would go for. Mystisisme, artillery and sorcery are all pretty bad skills. You should go for logistics, offence and armor instead.

Hey Maretti.
I think artillery and sorcery are bad skills aswell. Both of the pics are 1-2 years old, and I'm a little more experienced know. Mysticism is okay though if it's a big map and I have to explore without coming home too often. I'm a mage so I usually prefer to have Magic's x4, Wisdom (of course), Intelligence, Diplomacy and Logistics.

Hey liophy.
I sometimes play to make a nice army or a great hero, but other times I try to complete the map as fast as I can. It's different.... But yeah, I play for pleasure indeed!

Playing for fun is good, but becomes boring too soon. When you play another man is more interesting. And then you cant affort to risk with mag. Plus most of the people dont like to play with diplomacy, so you may better become used to play without it.
Even if you use diplomacy you must know, that having lots of different creatures in your army gives you bad morale. Its minus 1 moral for each creature beoynd 1 not from your army. In the screens you have 6 different creatures. That means you will have the worst morale = minus 3

I am no veteran at all at playing against humans but clearly Diplomacy is one of the best secondary skills (preferably as a starting skill). Getting a few wandering stacks to join you is a huge advantage despite the loss of morale. And it's a "good circle"; when a stack of creatures join you your army becomes more powerful and a stack that would have attacked you may decide to give up now and perhaps (depending on skill) decide to join you which means that your army becomes even more powerful and so on... It is self-strengthening to some degree.
And really, diplomacy is banned in most online games; there must be some explanation to that, don't you think?

Well, that doesn't really matter when I have the Pendant of Courage around my neck, does it :-)?

thats correct. I didnt noticed it. But still your moralle must bi minus 1. And because of the combination between ghost dragon and archangel it should be additional -1. I suppose the real morale must be minus 2.

1.Skeletons,no comment here.
2.Herpy hags.Fast, does great damage with bless,is almost same thing as another shooter.
3.Serpent flies.Fast and dispells, but if they get WoG upgrade to berserker flies they are probably the best creature in whole game.
4.Vampire lords.Real pain for enemies, great addition to my army.
5.Myghty gorgons.Can own almost anything.
6.Dread knight.Powerfull, even more powerfull in WoG.
7.People thinks that they are weak and worthless, but I vote for CHAOS HYDRA.Combined with teleport can do more damage than any other creature.
So 3 fortress creatures(I love fortress),3 necropolis creatures and 1 dungeon creature.

yeh, but then Halon starts with mysticism... halon and axsis specialise in it... (does specialty in mysticism just increase spell point regen? if it's by percentage, it's not a lot at all...) artillery is great for defending, and sorcery is only good when you specialise in it (malekith and gird). ^_^

Well... I like shooters and power creatures
1. Gnoll Marauder, believe it or not, 20 of them and 2 magic arrow spell power 2 killed 32 wolf raiders!!!
2. Marksman, double shooter
3. Grand Elf, double shooter
4. Vampire Lord, hate to fight against and love to fight with.
5. Mighty Gorgon, simply love it.
6. Dread Knight, most powerful to its level +double damage.
7. Titan, only shooter to its level.

I wonder why most of (even experienced) players think that Dread knight is simply the best of its level and underestimate nagas. In combat terms, Naga queen is even more powerfull - death blow attack is matter of luck, while attack with no retaliation works every round of combat . If you don't believe, try to put 100 DD vs. 100 NQ. Ok, this is not fair (cursing won't work ), however except of special cases (like vampire lords) naga queens will be usually capable to wipe out more of enemies than Dread knights.
But no doubt that with higher speed, undead bonus and chance of cursing are dread knights very close to queens.

Well, it seems that you didn't do the 100 vs 100 test, is that correct, tenzor?
Anyway, I did it myself. The dread knight has got much better stats than the naga queen; A/D = 18/18 vs 16/13. This means that 100 dread knights will deal 100 * (15 - 30) * 1.25 = 1875 to 3750 points of damage, or 2812 on average.
The naga queens' base damage is 3000 and this is reduced by 5% to a total damage of 2850. Quite even actually, so the dread knights' exceptional A/D make up for their lower damage. Additionally they've got 10 HP more. As you mention the curse spell has no effect on naga queens. Now the question is whether or not the double damage can win the fight against the no retaliation.
I fought the battle you mentioned 10 times, 100 vs 100. Both heroes had A/D = 0/0, of course. The dread knights won 5 and the naga queens won 5. I must admit that I waited with the dread knights and moved the naga queens forward. This means that the combat went like this:
1. DKs wait, NQ moves forward, DKs attack, NQs retaliate
2. DKs attack, NQs retaliate, NQs attack (no retal.)
3. DKs attack, NQs retaliate, NQs attack (no retal.)
...
and so on until a winner is found.
(In other words the flow of attacks is DK,NQ,DK,NQ,NQ,DK,NQ,NQ...)
Obviously this gives the DKs a head start (assuming the NQs don't receive good morale which they never did during the first round). I find this fair since the DKs are faster than the NQs. On the other hand the NQs get more attacks/round after that.
As the tavern keeper may tell you: "On the battlefield, the troop who strikes first, wins most often." Averagely the first strike of the DKs kill 25 or 26 NQs. This is of course a huge advantage, and if the first two attacks of the DKs are a little above average it is very likely that the DKs will win (even without ever getting double damage).
If the DKs get double damage on one of their first two attacks they're a sure winner. The probability that this happens is 36%. If they get it on their third attack they'll also have a good chance of winning.
All in all this is very close to a 50-50 situation (which is also what my test indicated). While the NQs will win the "average battle", all it takes for the DKs to win is that the first two attacks are above average damage or that one of them is of "double damage". It may even win if the third one is of "double damage".
Personally I prefer the DKs because of their better A/D, speed, slightly lower cost (and also better HP).
