Quote: Let me get this mess straight with some info.. Like some kind of family tree or family order of who came first.
5: Kings Bounty (1990)
"related to M&M"
6: Warcraft (1994)
7: Heroes of Might and Magic (1995)
"related to M&M, Kings Bounty"
8: Disciples (1999)
9: World of Warcraft (2004)
"related to Warcraft"
Some more:
Master of Magic came out in 1994 and is often cited as an inspiration for Heroes.
Lords of Magic, modeled after Heroes, came out a year before H3, in 1998.
Both Disciples and Age of Wonders came out several months after Heroes 3 came out in 1999, same three games got sequels in 2002 but Disciples came out just before Heroes 4.
Warcraft 3 came out in 2002 as well, a couple of months after H4.
Etherlords in late 2001 if I remember well, it was a Nival Production.
Disciples 3 was finished around a year ago? Anyway, most of these games are influencing each other, i.e. Disciples was really barely more than a Heroes-clone but in H6 the area of control thing seems to be inspired by it, same way many claim H6 Undead style is Warcraft rip off but who can tell for sure? Same reason why I don't buy the "Naga as a faction in Heroes only because of Warcraft", Heroes had Naga long before Warcraft did, so because Warcraft had different types of Naga, it means they set the trend and now Heroes follows?
