Edmund noticed his back hurt. It hurt a lot. In fact, the pain from his back blocked most of the feeling he had in the rest of his body. And he was sleepy. Despite the pain, he need to sleep was almost overwhelming. Almost.
With great effort, Edmund opend his eyes. His vission was blurry, but after a few blinks it cleared. He was in a blue tiled room. Once more he found himself in one of the rooms that haunted his vissions. Yet this time he knew he was not dreaming and this was all to real.
Edmund tried to get up, yet he could not. He was tied down, clamps were placed around every joint in his six limbs and tail. Edmund tried to look at himself, but the strain on his neck caused such pains he gave up as soon as he got the idea. Edmund howled.
"Lie down subject G. And lie still. You'll cause yourself incredible pain if you struggle." It was the drawly voice that haunted his dreams. It was the voice of Ambrose Severius. The man who 'created' him. "Now you're back, I have a chance to finish my project. But I will have to put you under again. I cannot afford to have you awake through this."
As Severius ended his sentence, the pain in his back intesified drastically. Edmund felt like his spine tried to burn itself out of his body. Within seconds he lost his conciousness.
When Edmund came to again, he was still clamped down on something. He was groggy and feverish, but he noticed he was carted down a large corridor. Many doors were closed. But some were transparent holdingcells. Again most of the cells were empty. But some of them were occupied. One of them held the Commisioner, who was sleeping on a bunk and appearantly slept with his gasmask on. Another cell held a number of Mr X.'s clothes, but not the man himself. And yet another cell held Richard who rushed to his transparent wall feebly to see Edmund be carted off. A few other cells held people Edmund did not know.
After being carted down the corridor, Edmund was deposited in an empty room, save for a large pile of hay and an enormous sipper water bottle. Edmund was dumped onto the hay, but he was to groggy to do anything. The door closed and Edmund was alone in his room. A minute, barred window allowed acces to the outside world.
After lying on the hay for some time, Edmund's haze lifted. He could feel the adrenaline he was so used to feeling flood his sytem again. He shambled to his feet, feeling ever more adrenaline course through his veins. Built up frustration, pain, fear and anciety were released in a enormous roar. Edmund felt his rage build up with the adrenaline and knew that soon he would go berserk and this room left him with nothing to vent it on. With another roar Edmund started clawing the door and the walls.

Xion watched the news and with a short "Tsk." he shut it off. "I haven't really done ANYTHING to be thrown in with Mallard and his bunch!" Xion shouted and threw the remote controller at the TV. "Ohh well." he sighed and took his fingers to his ear "At least Kane and company is up to something interesting. Heh. Good idea, to bug that place." Xion smiled "Nanobots are such incredible creatures don't you think so Frenzy?" Xion turned to the man he had just recently broken out of jail. "Do you know what more they can do? No? Well, we can't have that can we? Here let me show you a little project I like to call..." Xion stood up and walked over to a computer.
"...NANOHIVE!" Xion's grin could've scared the devil at that moment.
In Austria
The Commissioner was quite groggy when he woke up, felt like his head had exploded once or twice. He looked around and discovered that he was in a cell of some sort. Why? he wondered. He the remembered the Euroconfeds pinning them down and arresting them for some reason. gee. All those years catching criminals and this is the thanks I get? The Commissioner got up and took a look out his cell.
"Hello? Anyone there?" The said and waited for any reply.

There was little telling of time in his cell. Edmund did not know how long he raged futilely. But he had raged for a long time before he eventually calmed down and stoped roaring. The walls of his cell had deep gashes in them, the door had many scratchmarks, the hay was strewn all over the cell.
Still breathing heavily, Edmund looked around. There was nothing to hang from, so as he had no other option as to lay himself down on the hay to have a little comfort when he wanted to sleep. So he proceded to pile it together as best he could.
After which he settled himself down. Forcing himself to calm down even further, Edmund set himself to praying a rosary. Both to ban the rage out of his system and to give himself a little hope again.
Mr. X. was sitting cuffed to a chair.
The troopers came for him when he was ready to go to sleep. They cuffed him and ordered him into this room, where they cuffed him to this chair. They had left him there for some time before someone came in. Ambrose Severius casually strolled into the room.
"Mordechai Rosenbaum, as I live and breath. How long has it been?" He said mockingly in his drawly way of speaking. "Oh yes, it was your funeral I saw you last. 15 years ago, was it? I remember the attendants and especially your children were heartbroken. And now your sitting here. Caught on Confederate property, in possision of stolen artifacts, breaking the espionage treatise, aiding escaped convicts. I could go on, but I shall not. The legal matters are not my concern."
Severius paused for a while.
"I wonder, do your lackeys know that you, their beloved Mr. X., are, unlike them, not only legally but very actually dead? Have you ever bothered to tell even one of them?" Severius did not wait for an answer. "And I find you here, in my beloved Austria. Growing tired of the Home of the Free and the Brave? And you're conniving ways even lured our Bavarian cousins' Hero down to the level of a lowly criminal. Have you anything to say in your defense?"

Ouroboros was at his cabin in the mountains where used hi newfound power absorbed from Siegfried to radiate waves of light to attract the new servant of the Titans away from Melony and the others.
It found him. The Immortal appeared before Ouroboros and they stared at each other for a good long while. The Immortal then said, "The masters are very disappointed with you, Harbinger. You hold the key to the Catalyst, and through it, the control of the universe. Why have you deserted the great ones for these miserable humans?"
"Perhaps you have forgotten, Cyrus, but I am one of these miserable humans." replied Ouroboros. "You once were, but you have fallen so deeply into their stranglehold of lies and deceit that you are no longer recognizable. You attempt to hold a relatively human shape, but doing so hurts you inside doesn't it? Because you don't even remember what you look like, or what any human looks like. All you see is what the Titans let you see. They won't even let you see what your family looked like. All you know is that they were there and that you loved them dearly. That is, if you can remember love at all."
Cyrus's figure went up in flames in anger as he angrily said, "Do not pretend to know me or what I experience! I am beyond human or anything of the sort! I am the hand of the Titans! The master of light! The knight of righteous strength! I am the Immortal that was once mortal! I am well beyond you and your petty little powers!"
"Then why do the Titans value me so much? They place such a great deal of trust and dependence upon me, and not you. You are only sent so that I can take your place again!"
"ARGGHHHH!" yelled the Immortal as he blasted Alejandro with a wave of fire.
Alejandro stood his ground. Siegfried's power made him invulnerable to the Immortal's fire. "Do you see what you are doing? You want to return back to Earth permanently. You want to be human. Cyrus, listen to me! They have done nothing but lie to you and give you curses disguised as gifts!"
"NOOOOO!!! ERGGHHH!!!" yelled Cyrus as he collapsed to the ground, lost his figure and began to swirl around aimlessly until the light turned red and formed another figure. It was not human, but it looked humanoid, yet more ethereal and wispy than Cyrus's form. It was the red titan, Chronos.
"Your words pour like honey into the ears of this poor slave, yet they are truly poison. He may have once been human, but he is no longer. Nor would we let him." the titan said. "Why do you continue at this game? You cannot possibly win."
"Really, Chronos? Do you actually believe that my cause is hopeless? You have seen the paths of the future. You know that my struggle is greater than you realize." replied Ouroboros as he ripped off his mask. "I now know who I am. I am not your harbinger. Not your Ouroboros. It's time you learned what my name is. My name is Alejandro Corazon, the son of Luis Corazon, your greatest nemesis, a mortal. He found the secret to your existence, and through it, the secret to your death: me. Part of Siegfried's power is the ability to sense how others feel, and I sense fear in you, a godlike being. How is it that you can fear so much out of the little humans you despise so much, yet use so often? It is because you know your fate was sealed ever since the day the catalyst was created."
"Indeed? Should I show you to that very moment?" exclaimed Chronos.
"Why not? We do have all the time in the world, do we not?"
With that Chronos lost his figure and swirled around Alejandro. Alejandro closed his eyes to reopen it and find himself on a wooden ship with dark skinned people with long flowing robes and scimitars at their sides.
"Welcome to 1578." Chronos's voice echoed inside Alejandro's head. "The Ottoman Empire sends out a ship to the New World to discover a place to build a trade settlement. This ship would have sunk on the way there by a dangerous storm were it not for a single object found in the water. The catalyst."
Suddenly a man near the edge of the points yells something and points downward. Several men scurry over to him and look downwards. Within a couple of minutes, they are able to rope it and bring it up: a glowing orb with what seemed to be stars within it. The first man to touch it seemed to have accidentally activated it, resulting in a flash of light.
Chronos continued on. "This man that found the catalyst was the first to activate it, the first of your kind. He was granted the control of the weather. With this power, he was able to bring down the storm, allowing the ship to pass through to the Americas and establish the only Ottoman colony there, New Constantinople. If it had not been for the appearance of the catalyst, the ship would have sunk, and there would have been no New Constantinople. This man's bloodline would spread throughout the inhabitants of the city, but the powers stopped with him as he kept the catalyst safe and secure for hundreds of years. I thought that as long as it was kept safe by him that nothing would happen and we would be safe. That is until it was stolen by the man that was called Calamity. This man started a chain of events that led to me and my worries. I was too trusting to look into the future for the chance that I would become ruined. Yet here we are."
"Yes..." replied Alejandro as he stepped out of the shadows towards the the orb. "Here we are."
Alejandro sprinted to the catalyst and placed his hands on it, activating its powers. Alejandro then felt a wave of energy surge through him as his powers greatly increased and became much more potent.
"NOOO!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" yelled Chronos.
"Making things right!" replied Alejandro as he focused on the past and went there, to the origin of the Titans.
There Alejandro was in a wondrous nebula of stars and light, where the light seemed to organize itself and come together. Chronos then appeared before him and said, "You cannot do this! If you kill us, you shall die!"
"Then die I shall. I have committed enough sins to know that I no longer deserve life." replied Alejandro.
"What about sister? What about...Melony? The one you love?"
Alejandro paused for a second, and then said, "I will make sure that they know of what I have done, and why. It is you that I can not allow to live."
"But I am merely a child! You cannot ever think to kill a child!"
"I am sorry. I never want to kill children, but I know what you will become and what you will do to ensure that you are a god." said Alejandro as he focused all of his energy. "Goodbye, Chronos."
"So it ends..." said Chronos.
Alejandro then released it, destroying the nebula and the forms of light that were just beginning to shape itself. Yet with such a vast amount of energy spent, he could not get back out of time, and only had seconds to live before his body and Siegfried's power failed him.
In Alejandro's last second, he sent a message across time and space to the mind of Melony saying, "Melony, it is I, Alejandro. I know that what I have done is inexcusable and has caused the sufferings of many, but know that I never wished to harm anyone. Least of all, you. I am gone now to the void and can never return, but not in vain. You no longer have to hide and run from them. I have destroyed them, but in doing so, I have destroyed myself. I wish that I could have come back and that I could have spent more time with you, but it brings my heart joy to know that you are safe now and that you will live in a world free of the immortals and free of the titans. Please take care of Lisa and Tiberius for me. I love you, Melony, with all my heart. Goodbye."
With that message sent, the last of Alejandro's strength faltered and he died, but did so peacefully.

Melony stood there in a stunned silence. "Alejandro..." she whispered, "goodbye." For a while, Melony was silent, withdrawn. Though Kane and Vlad tried to get her to talk to them, she just stared out into space. After almost an hour, Melony finally responded, "Ouroboros is dead. So is that thing that attacked us and its masters. I-I need to be alone for a while."
In the stunned silence that followed, Melony walked out of the room, and out of the house.
Miasma cracked its eyes open, feeling the damage and pain that wracked its body from the Immortal. Miasma was weak... too weak to fight little more than a child. It oozed up from the ground, shuddering around the gaping holes in its being and reaching out tentatively to try and find where the monster was. Miasma was surprised when it found that it couldn't feel where the Immortal had gone. Pleasantly so, but that also made Miasma weary. Where had something of that power gone to hide?
With a start, Miasma realized that it could still feel Melony, though she was far away. Gliding across the ground, Miasma followed. A crawl compared to what it had been able to do jut a while ago, but faster than your average house cat. Hopefully it was enough time to get to Melony before that thing came back so that Miasma could... what? Slow it down for a second? "If that's all I can give, that that's what I will give," Miasma swore. "Hold on girl, I'm coming."
G9 was already there.

Kane was walking silently not too far behind Melony, keeping an eye on her without her knowledge. Thanks to his new eyes he did not have to care about light and dark, keeping to shadows to hide from the girl. Experience told him what his sight could not, his vision did not reveal shadows anymore. He had a feeling something was horribly wrong, but could not figure out what. His gut told him danger was nearby, but there was nothing alive anywhere nearby. He had no choice but to reveal his presence to the girl he followed and risk her wrath.
"Melony!" he shouted. "You should get out of here!"

Melony stopped and stared back at Kane. In this light, by the river, his eyes glowed so strangely, the moon hanging in the sky illuminated most of the world, but still she could have seen him anywhere. Two fireflies lit up to her right, the night here was rather spectacular. But still, "Jack? Why are you-"
G9 had waited patiently for these two to wander off - though it would have been preferable if one or the other was alone, minimizing the risk that G9 put itself through - but this would have to do. They were away from Vlad and all of his defenses, and they were unaware of its presence, giving this ambush the perfect element of surprise it needed to be pulled off so that Melony and her protector would die with little effort... and then Kane had to open his mouth.
"Melony!" he shouted. "You should get out of here!"
Snarling and opening its eyes; G9 assaulted Kane, lunging from the shadows and knocking him into the air. It sent five spikes of darkness into his arms, legs and chest, holding him above the river. After, it cackled, "Oh now, your eyes are interesting, aren't they? But you're blind, even with them. I don't think you need them anymore." With one finger, G9 flicked a shadow blade across Kane's eyes, biting deeply into the flesh and ruining them beyond all healing. Admiring its work for a moment, G9 sighed, "But I now have more important matters than you to think of." It prepared to send another, larger, spike to finish the warrior off.
Suddenly, a blade of shadows cut into G9, and everything had made shattered as it cried out in rage, dropping Kane in the river. It blinked is surprise and turned to Melony. She should not have been able to react that quickly. Her personality does not allow her to react to sudden change or attacks withing the few seconds I gave her. Obviously, her experiences had honed her reaction times, and her instincts. The girl was developing too-
More attacks began to rain down on G9, driving is ever so slowly back and forcing the living shadow to defend itself. Quickly, it became apparent that Melony was giving everything she had to trying to kill G9... and it began to laugh. This was barely half of what G9 was capable of, and it had considered her a threat? It sent one spike into her gut, making sure nothing vital was hit so that it could prolong the torture that her insolence deserved. Melony crumpled over the spike like a rag doll, her attack stopping as suddenly as it had begun. It was a limitation of those who controlled the shadows, one that not even Miasma understood. While they were in pain, using the shadows as little more than a body or shell was beyond their grasp. She was obviously no different.
Lifting her up in much the same way that it had Kane, G9 just stared at her for a second. She had caused it so much trouble. This human, this insect, had broken its fusion, had destroyed the perfect being. For that, she would suffer. She had harbored quarry for years, had forced G9 to hunt across countries and across oceans. for that, too, would she suffer. "You will beg for death, girl. Oh yes, you will wish that I just killed you when we first met, sixty years ago. I see now that I should have, that wiping your memory wasn't good enough, that I was still too soft... but you will remember. Oh yes, you will remember." Drawing back its one arm, G9 gathered a ball of shadows to torture Melony with... and everything it made shattered once again as Melony sent her own lance of darkness into G9's chest.
"I already do. I remember you, my shadow. You could not destroy my memories like you destroyed Miasma's, only suppress them. That's just one difference between you and me, G9. I may not be as powerful as you or Miasma..." She said as she slowly stood up from her fetal position on the ground, "but I have my own strength." The shadow lance faded, "Now run, before I decide to finish you off here and now. Run." And G9 ran, looking for a host to recover in... an old man who was walking in the country passed by. A cross hung from his neck, and he was the only one around for miles. He would have to do...
Melony was able to stand herself up for five seconds after G9 fled, and then she fell to her side. Staring out at the river, she whispered "Stay alive, Jack. I'm going to find you again... just... stay..." With that, Melony fell unconscious.
That's where, hours later, Miasma found her.

Kane floated for what felt like years. Images drifted past him, things he had long forgotten. He saw his parents, he had long since forgotten their faces. Even their names. His first foster family, the father had beaten him daily. His second foster family, the first time he had struck back was when the older foster-brother had punched him. Kane had broken his nose and left him crying in the kitchen. Several more flew past his now ruined eyes. He saw the faces of his first kills, the foster family where the father had tried to touch him. He had blown up the house, running away in the process.
He saw his second girlfriend, somehow the face of the first one escaped him. She had been a heroin addict who had used him for his money. He gained fame quickly, he relished the memories from those days. His name quickly grew in the underworld, his jobs becoming who he was. He was a killer, and nothing more. Not until he tried fighting for the case of good for once, saving others.
Kane bumped into a stone at the bottom of the river, his weight pulling him down while the current pulled him toward the open ocean. His eyelids moved slightly, letting some brackish water flow into his eyes.
He saw more recent friends from the two wars. He saw both hated and loved ones. Kane found he cared more than he had believed possible, he wanted to be there for them when needed. Somehow he knew it was needed, this was when things would become difficult. But he was crippled, he could not see anymore. How could he help them? He had to find a way.
He opened his eyes and let the flow take it wherever it wanted, he no strength to fight it. Somehow he knew he would be alright, he would be fit to fight again. With that thought he drifted away into the dark, his mind fading, his life draining.

Melony woke to see Miasma crouching next to her, one hand on her shoulder. "You're alive," It whispered, "thank whatever god is responsible, you're alive."
"Don't try to put the blame on any god for that." She whispered back, "G9 underestimated me... I'm so glad to see that you're still alive, little shadow, my old friend." Older than you know...
Miasma's frame trembled as its mind tried to reclaim what G9 had taken from it, not knowing that it could never reclaim what had been eradicated completely from memory. It didn't even know that there was a gap that it was trying to fill. G9 would pay for that, one day. One day... Miasma was hurt, hurt badly. "Little shadow?"
It couldn't eve raise its head. "I'm dieing, Melony. I can barely... hold myself... together. This body is broken... Broken beyond all repair. I-"
"Then use mine. I can survive the strain... I know a place were we can go, Miasma. A place where we can be safe, where we can recover. I can take you there..." I can look for Jack there. I will save him... but not today. "Please, I couldn't bear it if you die... Please, Miasma..."
Miasma whispered, "I will try... not to hurt you... as much as..." It's arm melded with Melony's, and her world blacked out. When she awoke again, dawn was just peaking over the horizon. Her wound had scarred over, and a presence that had been absent for too long was back. -Hello, my little shadow.-
Hello yourself, girl! Do you know how close I came to killing you last night? "'I can handle it'" indeed! How do you expect me to believe... Melony smiled and tuned out the familiar drone in her head. She was going to have a long trip ahead of her, but it would be to a safe haven, shown to her by Ouroboros. She would find Kane, how? Leave that to the future. And after she had found him? That, too, belonged to the future. Too far into the future to plan, but to hope? She knew what she would hope for, and if those hopes came true... well, that was also for the future. With the dawn of a new day rising, Melony went off to find Kane's apartment. If she was going to leave, she would need a car, clothes, money, food...

Some lab somewhere in Europa, probably Austria.
New Constantinopel - Outside the DMW club.
A van rolled stopped outside the grand building known as the Dead Men Walking Clubhouse. Out of the van "marched" robots that to any normal onlooker, would look like another group of Rex Mallard's Machine Army. But to those who know their robots, they would see a cheap copy of Mallard's work, as were the guns they were wielding. Storming the building, the robots made quick work of the security guards of the club, and only mere minutes after they first stopped, the van was driving away from the clubhouse, which soon collapsed as it's first floor was blown away.
