well, since we have the chests (exp or gold) and gold that can be picked from the ground, maybe the ark has some sort of enlightening purpose, giving exp to the hero?
they don't look rare, so they can't be artifacts IMO, they look more like a 'resource' container.

Updated the master post with some objects we got from the latest screenshots 
One thing sprung to my mind about the towers, especially now that we clearly saw the Inferno one was guarded :
  
Could these towers be linked to a fort and capturing a fort would show the area covered by all the towers linked to the fort (a bit like the hut/eye of the magi) ?

I'm not so sure about that as this time around, you will not be visiting magic guilds and shrines to learn new spells. You will be accessing them by spending skill points on them, so they will be on your skill tree and not on buildings.

But, if the hero doesn't need a skill. If he could learn a factional spell without specific skill. As far as I know in H5 the hero can cast the Adventure spells like 'Instant Travel', 'Town Portal' and etc, without any specific skill (I din't play H5 too much).

There hasn't been a word about adventure map spells. However, it's been confirmed that heroes don't need to visit magic guilds to learn their spells. They learn through spending skill points on them. Adventure map spells back in H5, they were also learnt in Magic Guilds. Now without magic guilds in the game, it's safe assume that Adventure Map spells will also be learned as skills.

What? They remove the Magic Guilds? That disappointed me. I didn't know it.
