Yay, first vote and comment.
Firstly, thank you for the thread, it was taking too much place in the discussion thread. Slight problem though, there should be the option *both* because I would have voted that. Both are necessary even if personnally, I prefer RMG
Moving on, I voted RMG, but I want a good one, not H5 style. I will post my arguments a bit later.

I don't care, if we get at least one.
If we get the map editor, we can easily download new maps made by other persons. If we get RMG, lots of maps in no time.
However, I voted RMG just because to play maps I will have to wait to their release (however that will not be a problem, since like usual I only will find the game in a store when everyone else had already played it )

If I put both, then everybody would vote that. I mean, might as well have it all, right?

personally I find RMG rather useless. I never use it, the maps are generally of a relatively low quality, and all that you EVER get are random maps that have no story or interesting quests which when they are balanced are good for multiplayer.  whereas with an Editor possibilities are endless, you can have an epic adventure, tons of unique scripts, and a good multiplayer. now I'm not gonna pretend every editor map is great but the fact is there are no GREAT rmg maps. Plus I prefer a good varied multiplayer map. Random items monster stacks, enemy types etc. all add variety. I even find that on a good map, there are multiple viable strategies. Plus the maps available only grow as time goes on, so even if a map only holds your attention for a couple weeks, new ones are there for you to play afterwards. And if the editor is better, the maps only get better and better. Look at the great things coming out of H5's editor, and that thing while very feature rich, felt like the devs just released the program they used to make maps, it wasn't use friendly at all. the new editor looks very user friendly. and feature rich just based on the screenshot we have.

I would never say RMG makes low quality maps. They cna be very enjoyable, although H5 one makes indeed maps with not enough spice. Still, you can choose Simonak's, Idans or even old Tapanis RMG for better experience (but little graphics quality).

In H3 I still find Clash of The Dragons and Jebus entertaining, especially with huge maps mod installed

Either way, random maps are useful only for multiplayer maps, while editor is used mainly for singleplayer scenario. Who hadn't played H3 Empire of The World, Lord of War, Time of Prophecy, H4 Chronic Peripeteia or H5 Rakshasa's revolt and Beowulf: Pride is the Curse, one doesn't relly know how good this game can be.

RMG means always new worlds to visit. RMG is no more beating noobs by learning maps. RMG is totally different play stile for multiplayer games. Without RMG are no more Heroes !

Uh ... no. If you play multiplayer, especially in leagues, then you'll want balanced maps, not some stupid random crap where you're not even sure you can reach your opponent.

Editor, there's no discussion really. Why?

RMG > Allows computer to make random, not planned maps, which will probably not look very good, even if they work.

EDITOR > Allows fans to make thought out, planned maps with storylines, which can look beautiful due to human eye for detail.

So I mean, why would one prioritize first over second?

People who use the editor are too few and people who play MP are even fewer. Unfortunately, all of these people post here. Whereas, the majority of players who will buy this game either don't know or don't care about forums and fansites, downloadable maps and MP tourneys. They will not post here and their opinion will not be heard but I can speak for them, because I have been one of them for the longest time and I know how they think: I don't care about MP and I don't wanna bother using an Editor or searching for maps online. I want an RMG, it's easy to use and saves me a lot of trouble.

Seriously, do you know the number of fan-made maps that were made for Heroes 3 and Heroes 4? For Heroes 3, we are talking *many*. Maybe not infinitely many, but many. And I would rather have 100 good maps, than infinitely many bad maps.

A lot of fan made maps for sure, that were always being passed around the same 1000-2000 maximum fans.

I think you're vastly underestimating the amount of people who are visiting the fansite. The silent community is enormous.

I don't play MP but still here I am. I was way too late though, only after H5 I joined here even I've been playing since H1. Ultimate reason is the fan-made manual. It's just crazy not knowing skills, perks, abilities etc beforehand and having to learn them all only by playing? Couldn't imagine how many hours needed to gather details and pick up the learning curve. I always played all single maps provided, and RMG never satisfied my thirst. Glad I came here and found other excellent maps made by great people. And only by playing very carefully and well designed maps I could improve my skills. When it comes down to who-can-break-garrison-in-week-two, facing Balrogs, and other similar challenges - balanced MP or single scenario - you know what I mean. RMG can't design that. I would now lol at myself that without these maps, my game style would probably still wait til the end of the month (or more) to advance forward

If provided both, sure, why not all. Thing with H5 RMG is, at larger scale it very often crashes. So if given issue which one to prioritize for the developer, I'd vote Editor. (I think it's been discussed elsewhere.)

Wrong. At any given time, you can check out here or on any other fansite to see how many registered users and guests are online. Take note that many of these guests are also registered users incognito, take note that many of these users and guests are the same with different nicknames on every site. We are not many, and that's the truth. And even among us, there are people with many different opinions. Such as me for example, or otherwise polls like this would not exist now.

The Community are the hardcore fans of the game. It's the rule, that the hardcore fans are always the minority when compared to the casual players. Like the elite as opposed to the masses. While it's good to let the elite decide the fate of the game, they know better after all and care more, in this case it is not. You will have your editor, and you will have your much better maps, good. But what about all the rest? They will buy the game, find 10 custom maps and this will be it for them.

And I can't remember when was the last time when I had a multi-player game on Heroes III staged on a pre-made map. You will find it quite surprising that a lot of people don't mind playing on "stupid random crap". And good players too.
As for the poll - this is a choice that I'm not willing to make. Like I said and like I'll be saying whenever I'm asked, both can be present in the game. The argument that they are providing us with a useful editor and that's why they are scrapping the RMG from the initial release is so devoid of logic and even upbringing that I'm surprised how many people actually accept it. Next time they'll promise a bugless game with only 2 factions - how about that? Yes, I'm sure that the idea will find at least some proponents.

I agree with Alci

I cant use an editor , but I really want those fan made maps they are often pretty good - and I love that many people made the best H3 maps for H5

The ideal thing would to have both, so we can get a quick match, but still go on net and download some awesome fan made maps

oh and on a sidenote: I hope they make just as many maps as there was in HoMM3. there were way to few maps in 5

Ok then, we'll just sit and wait for the good man to come along and give us a map, is that it? And maybe a month later after the game's release, I will find a mediocre map that meets only half of my requirements to play on. Till then I just sit and wait.

Because you're talking about H3 here, and it's many, many maps. It's been more than 10 years since H3 was released. Ofcourse we're having now a lot of maps to choose from! But how many maps shall we have available when H6 gets released? Let me tell you how many: The 10 that come with the game! The first few attempts will be bad, the first good attempts will come much later and still they won't meet most of the people's requirements.

I want XL maps with all factions, and the maximum number of starting towns that can be in the game. I want them to have underground and sea. I want them to have bosses. I want them to be rich and balanced. And I want a lot of such maps. I want at least a dozen to choose from. And I want all that when I finish the installation of the game, I don't want to wait. RMG would give me all that. Can the Mapmakers say the same?
