when I worked on naga town concepts in the past, the Naga had basically enchanted an overzized sea horse so that it floated across the land and like "swam in the air"

It fits them, as the naga faction isn't from asia, its from homm.
Hippocampus is unable to move over land, Kelpies however aren't.
Actually a Kelpie might be a little tricky to design properly so it can fit in, but it can work.

I beg to differ; horses are a classic hallmark of the series and that's clearly why they've returned to them. And, personally, I'm pretty happy that they did.

Someone mentioned that the naga sibling would be riding on the horse and the rest of the naga would have no mounts, i think that is gonna be how the game ends up implementing. I just can't see a naga hero sitting on the back of a horse.
i would prefer if they stuck to the heroes V where every race has a unique mount. If i had done it my way this is what they would be riding
HAVEN - Horse
INFERNO - Nightmare (since they didn't make it in the game)
STRONGHOLD - the water buffalo from Heroes V
NECROPOLIS - some undead deer like creature with horns
NAGA - turtle
for the other races
SYLVAN - deer (not unicorn since unicorns are already in the game)
DUNGEON - raptor (they were the coolest mounts)
ACADEMY - elephant
FORTRESS - bear

Notice that Bear might also be in the game (hence possibly not suitable for Fortress). Mammoth worked fine for me.
I don't really mind the undead horse either, I guess that's a reasonable fit with the theme of the factions after all.

A turtle is a nice idea, but it's a bit lame. I mean in case of speed.

I prefer horses only, it's classic for HC. Having bulls and mammuths is just lame.

Remember, demon lords didn't have mounts, so maybe naga wouldn't have them ( they are massive then humans and elves?).
But if they find or create a mount for naga...well, I just can't imagine it.
