Quote: Then comes H7, set on another continent, probably after Dark Messiah where the main continent has been ravaged by demons, forcing the few surviving factions to flee to a new land where new factions are introduced and old ones get a whole new theme and twist.
Now where have I heard this before???
Come on W.O, Think!
Uhhh, two swords...then a big fight....Then everything exploded. Come on, the story was good, but the gameplay was a bit of a let-down. Uhm...Right they chucked upgrades out the window, now I remember.
Sounds a whole lot like Heroes IV to me. Only then it was an entire new planet. Old wine in a new bottle, sez I.
Now in all honesty, the plan ain't that bad. But it's been done before. And I don't see why they can't add 2 factions in an expansion. DoW did it, twice.(Ok, the first expansion had 1 faction and the third was a bit of a let-down. But it can be done and done good.)

Well, the big positive thing about that is that it allows you to create a number of completly new factions or very radically changed old factions since its on another continent.
The idea is basically that the demons got released from Sheogh and swarmed over all of Thallan (the h5 and h6 continent).
Only Haven survives and sails off to a new continent with new factions and different groups of old factions (Sorceress-style Elves could return as the magical race and dwarves wouldnt live in snow or lava, but in a "norse forest"-like enviroment and be the new barbaric race).
The new continent also would allow to move away from the generic old dragon gods and introduce a new trio of original gods (which are related to the spell schools in my idea).
The game would deal with a war between these gods and their (new) races. Finally, the last expansion or the next HoMM game would deal with the return to Thallan and reintroducing the Inferno faction and fighting off the demons there.

Yeah, but now we're moving into the territory of your personal little brain-child. And moving out of realistic possibilities of things we might actually get to see.

The key is to make this NOT be a repeat of the HoMMIV situation is to keep the old continent relevant, in fact, a chunk of the story could focus on pushing back the Demons and retaking parts of the continent, but old alliances have been sundered, agreements have been broken and new bonds have formed.
It's a valid excuse for something fresh WITHOUT throwing away land and lore like HoMMIV did.
Yes, purely hypothetical, only to illustrate the kind of options it opens up.
The humans instead of a proud empire are a closer knit group of soldiers in more battered and beaten state, no giant ornate castles, simple but effective stone forts, wooden houses, but still with a sense of pride, flags and familiy emlbems.
Elves forced to adapt to life away from Irrolan descend into a more savage state.
Dungeon under full sway of a Faceless lord and his followers who hid themselves in mystical caverns sealed beneath this far off land.
Academy got off relatively scot free, their skyborne cities moved, this could bring them in tention with the less fortunate refugees.
Necropolis stayed behind and is actually one of the last standing bastions of Asha on the old continent, admidst all the carnage they managed to get hold of all the soldiers and weapons to hold their own.
But perhaps some necromancers made a pact with the Demon Sovereign. (NO NO NO, I AM NOT SUGGESTING INFERNOPOLIS!)
Orcs fled to distant tribes and are regrouping, their numbers dwindled, but with an alliance formed with (Ogres or Trolls or something) they are preparing to wage war on this new land to stake their claim of land and resources.
Sanctuary also got off relatively easy, the Demon invasion not yet having spilled over onto their islands, they are readying their defenses and the higher ups are losing valuable time debating over if they should flee or hold.
Of course this new land could hold other cultures and creatures which might take offense to strangers in their lands and fight them tooth and nail.
Just throwing out some ideas, not saying they SHOULD or WILL, just saying they COULD. (though it is extremely unlikely.)

*AGREES*... I mean, without academy, the titan-dragon pair, and the elemental epicness of phoenix, the elve's priests/wizards (druids), this episode seems pointless to me. I always loved Heroes, while my friends said, IV was a piece of ***, some said, V failed. I loved them all... but this time... something is lost from this game, something, that made it different from the other fantasy games. Bringing in pointless creatures... changing the whole system from the basics... Maybe i would care with the three missing nation... (and i guess, i am far not alone...)

Academy HAS to be back! I wanna see the Titans once again! If they wont bring them back I will seriously be dissapointed! What worries me is that there is a new level 7 creature in necropolis, inferno and in stronghold which means that it is likely that there will be a new one in academy.. :/ Well I hope not.
Also I would really like to see Fortress back ( the lizardmen not the dwarves ), as it would be really nice to see the swamp faction against the water faction.
