I would change hunter to huntress just to make them female.
and i would turn the pixie/sprite into pixie/sprite swarm... have a hundred of them in a group just so sizewise they would match up to the other core units. its very hard to imagine a single pixie and a beastsoul being on the same tier given their size difference. otherwise great job. cant wait to see the champion unit

Agree with SBlister on the Pixie thing - otherwise, great job! Looking forward to the Champion as well.

Thanks.
The Pixie is supposed to be the same size as it was in H5, with smaller wasps surrounding it. It looks more insectoid now. Plus if this was a real faction (ridiculous reasoning I know), how would the Dryad's Vine Grab animation look on a Pixie SWARM?
Tomorrow I will post the Champion creature and start working really hard at the Heroes and neutral creatures.

I'm actually excited about the champion creature. i'm thinking dragon but maybe you'll surprise everyone. who knows?
my line up of the sylvan which i posted a while back was very similar to yours which is why i really love this faction of yours.
mine was:
core:
pixie/sprite swarm
satyr/feral satyr (but i like your beastsoul more)
huntress/grand huntress (i think u shud take up the female name since ur pic shows a female)
elite:
dryad/hamadryad
unicorn/war unicorn
treant/savage treant
champion:
green/gold dragon
i'll say it again. i really like ur faction!

Excellent work. I would love to see this in the form of a mod... Really like how the creatures are designed to support each other.
The dryad might seem a bit overpowered if it is a potent spellcaster AND a range attacker (with probably no range penalty considering the nature of its attack).

I have had a lot to do recently, but now I have added the non-dragon champion and the Sylvan Crowd control penalty and I will change Hunter to Huntress in the near future.
Next up is probably the Hero classes and the names and bios of all Sylvan heroes.

I like it... a lot
the idea of symbiosis is a fantastic idea for a Sylvan racial skill, and I'm surprised no-one had thought of it earlier.
However, there are a few creatures that... don't sit well with me, but this is just personal preference.
I kind of like elves as being this xenophobic outlook towards other races based on their own arrogance and beauty. at their heart, I always liked an interpretation that a friend of mine gave of them. They are youth theives, emotional vampires, who drain the energy of lesser races by being around them. I would like to see a faction that reflects this... darker element of the elven idea. that's just me.
also, I don't like the idea of having both Dryads and Treants on the same level. one or the other, really, otherwise it just gets a bit too twiggy. you could have Dryads who are able to summon treants, or Treants who are in habited by dryads, or who are upgrades of pixies, but oh well, again, just me.
I really don't get the whole love of the giant mantis. to my mind, the giant mantis was the worst creature that Heroes 4 ever created... conceptually. in terms of game play, I'm sure it's all hunky dory with a side of bacon, but conceptually, it's cripplingly lazy
"we need a creature,"
"Ok, let's take an existing creature and just make it big."
"isn't that incredibly lazy?"
"whose paying you, pretty boy blue?"
"shutting up now."
to me, the perfect Sylvan line up would be.
Core: Pixie swarm (same as yours)
changlings (same as the shifters, just with the backstory about them being cursed elves who left the noble court)
Hunters (same as the hunters)
Elite: Unicorn (again, same as yours)
Dryads (able to summon treants as well)
Exquisites (noble elves of exceptional beauty, able to cast spells and engage in combat, able to siphon energy from creatures they fight)
champion: Green dragon (same as the mantis stats)
again, this are all just me.

cool!!!
here's a very rough sketch of what i've got.
they worship the dragon of the air.
so maybe they live in tall tower like structures. id called this faction Bastion.
now the main thing is who are "they"?
well i dont want them to be human, elven, dwarven... too many of those factions already exist. so im thinking something along the lines of like mammalian humanoids. possibly with cat or fox heads on top of human bodies.
now here's the hard part: are they good or bad?
and another hard part is their culture. what are they like, what drives them blah blah.
hope you got some interesting ideas.

so all the structures around a single tower? nice idea, brings an idea of centralism to them which could be very interesting, individual clans who have pure-blood main houses with ofshoots and so on, or focus on the self and the personal. could be interesting.

I am hesitant to simply have "Animal men", but it could be interesting.
I think it would be good to see Sylath taking a far more active role than his brethern in his worshippers affairs, and "editing" his creation of humanity would be interesting. I kind of like the idea of them possibly being a race obsessed with perfection, trying to edit themselves and their offsprings into more "Pure" forms, giving away to hedonism, experimentation and freedom... or alternatively restraint, conformism and repression. either interpretation could be fun.
also having some really esoteric weaponary might be quite fun. having musical instruments that are charmed to hurt people, or swords that contain millions of tiny insects that burrow into the skin of those slashed, weapons that fire pure bolts of lightning... or something like that.
a good race that might work, especially if we are going down the hedonism rout with these guys, would be Satyrs. in the mythology, they were party animals and rabble rousers, so having them as this crazy hedonistic faction that aren't evil so much as them being caught up in having a good time to notice how much they are hurting other people.

I think maybe you two should take that to another thread or PMs, since this one is devoted to a specific user-made faction already.
Overall, I like it, though it is a bit hard to keep track of the symbiosis-es .

love your ideas bixie. also its mentioned that sylath is the keeper of secrets. maybe this is a faction that has ancient knowledge with it is loath to share with the others. also they might be rivals with the haven faction since haven were believers in sylath.
satyrs, imo, are more like a sylvan race. if they weren't so feral, i wouldn't mind them being the primary race of the bastion faction. this is really the hardest part, coming up with the primary race.
we'll start a new thread once i hear from you. just give me two or three other options for a primary face. what do you think of kitsunes? i know a lot of ppl would like to see gnolls return but i think we can reach a compromise but making these gnolls fox like instead of hyenas. what say you?

lets go for it.
as for primary races...
well, satyrs fit a more free, wild abandon kind of outlook, if we are going for it. Kitsune fit well with being aloof schemers, all about politicking and double bluffing, if we are going for that. for a third one, I would suggest going really esoteric and making a race that cannot survive on their own, and need specially crafted suits of armour to survive and move around in, presenting an otherworldly aspect.

I am not going to change any creature, I am happy with my line-up. The Dryad is supposed to look very different from the Treant, but of course it is hard to find images that exactly resembles your own visions on creatures.
I am very happy with the Mantis and I am never going to have a Dragon as a champion for H6 expansion ideas and the Green dragon will appear later in this idea anyway.
Hero types plus the 10 different heroes (which are not all elves, like in H5!) will come shortly unless the H6 beta comes and I get totally addicted to it. xDDD
