Africa....

So, the topic of Africa ???

Can someone explain to me, or at least try to how come

1. Home come we don't care about Africa ?
2. How come we don't hear about it on the news ?
3. How come whenever something happens to jews/muslims there are riots in every major city but Africa nothing ?
4. How come black people always talk about slavery (at least in USA) but they show zero interest or at least a united front on the subject ?
5. How come its 2011 and we allow every other person to have aids in Africa ?
6. How come I hear about every possible conflict in every country worldwide but nothing of Africa ?
7. How come genocides, rape camps, little 6 year old soldiers, hunger, diseases don't bother us so called moral society ?

When you've done answering all of those ask yourself the real question of this thread - Are we as people that racist towards black men and why at all ? Majority of you probably doesnt view yourselves as such but can you state so without a doubt ? Is there no racism in your country ? I've switched 3 countries so far and visited at least 30 and it's the same everywhere, so... WHY ?

like in "1984" by george orwell, they are the low class.

it's just that if they weren't so poor, some people wouldn't be so powerful

I don't think, that the way you present the topic is fair.
This is a VERY complex issue, and I don't think it has to do with racism.

I think we don't try to improve the place and cultivate them anymore, since the last time we tried that, things went kind of wrong.

no, intolerant people have no problems with african people.
here they are more concerned about the muslims in their streets, why should they care about people living on another continent?

Because it's about people they identify themselves with. We don't identify with poor black peasants who wage a lot of war with each other.

yeah, that makes me think, each time there is a major catastrophe with thousands of deads, we hear at the tv how they managed to save a couple of french people.
seriously, who cares about japaneses or lybians? french people who are there get free plane tickets. the other people can die, they had to be born french. (I'm not being racist just explaining their logic)

also, a movie I saw "go, live, become" where a family, to flee his country which is at war, has to lie about being jew, if I remember well.

1. Who are "we"?
2. Libya is in Africa, as well as Egypt. We hear a lot about them lately (and not only lately). I take it you mean Central/Southern Africa which indeed almost doesn't exist for the outside world. Is it so?
3. The vast majority of the African countries are former colonies or subordinates to some Great Power, their overall development level is lower than anywhere else on this planet and many of them don't have governments that survive for more than 1-2 years/have real power/care for anything apart from the well-being of small fraction, leaving the population to rot. And because of all this, they have no propaganda machine to speak of. Plus, they are not organized enough to present an external threat to anyone, nor they have that many accessible strategical resources.
4. Can't really comment here, even if it's true. I suspect that it might something to do with the fact that "black people" in America are definitely not the "black people" in Africa though. And that this is not a racial problem.
5. See 3.
6. See 3.
7. What moral society?

@ Dagoth and Fauch, I dont identify with anyone actually (besides being sorry for japs, etc as another human being) but I see some hypocrisy in that subject, was just asking for you point of view. Besides that blacks in america, indeed identify with other blacks, matter of fact majority of black americans view things in black and white and refer to other blacks as "Us/Our people" while to whites as "You/Your people"

@ Zenofex

1&7. We are so called "people/society with high moral standards"
claiming to be the new world, trashing old world and even calling third world countries primitive ones.
2.I meant black africa, as I have stated... libya and egypt are countries with arab populations and not a black one.
3. nice answer, however do you consider kosovo, palestine, iraq as a developed countries ? I dont, as mean as it might sound

Good question asked by Zenofex: who's "we"?
Ordinary civilians... what exactly CAN you do to help an entire continent?
Whole nations... what's there to do? What you're asking about are independent nations. You can't just go there and tell them how to live. We're not at colonial era anymore. Most countries are already helping a lot, but as you probably know, its up to their governments to distribute all the help they get.

2. How come we don't hear about it on the news ?

What's there to say? Poor countries are poor. Yes, there are starving people there. Yes, most people are aware of that situation. No, talking more about it won't change a damn thing, or so I suspect.

There was a lot of media attention towards Egypt, Libya...

4. How come black people always talk about slavery (at least in USA) but they show zero interest or at least a united front on the subject ?

Slavery is a thing of the past. It's dead. What fronts you want to form against it now?

(I'm not talking about selling people which still works but isn't limited to Africans anyway)

5. How come its 2011 and we allow every other person to have aids in Africa ?

We? And what are you going to do about it? drop condoms from bombers?

Mainstream media are picky. Try regional, you will get more info.

Idk, I like black people myself, they have an interesting culture, I wish I had a black friend myself (I want to have friends in all cultures). Whites treating Blacks as a inferior race of slaves for 200 years might be a good answer to you, though.

well, it isn't exactly their priority. I mean, they spend far more money for military than for the 3rd world. and in my book, buying tanks isn't exactly about wanting to help people. (though, for some reason, everytime they claim they are helping, they send tanks )

36 millions of slaves worldwide exist today, more than ever throughout the history of man kind. and slavery is far from being the thing of past in the eyes of majority of african americans

Go to the streets, protest, put some pressure on our gov's, I'm not saying I'm doing so or that I will, I'm simply trying to understand the mindset of others on the topic... I don't really care about Africa, I wonder why is it so, thats all

Ask CNN why or watch smaller, less sensation-crazed TVs.

Slavery is legally abolished.

We have a life of our own, and you want us to go to the streets? Why don't you try instead
It's not colonial era anymore & we can't just go and invade an independent country with our "help".

Well, are you talking about human trafficing then? That type of slavery does exist worldwide, Eastern European and Asian women are in high demand as slaves in Western Europe and N. America.
