Interesting how low some information levels are here.
I will post something about Africa and your questions later one, maybe tomorrow, because I'm on the run. And I will tell something from first hand, cause my wife is africaine.
I will post pictures of cities in Africa where you think these are made in Europe or in the States.
Not all african people are poor!
Yes, there are cell phones over there.. 
Yes, they have Mercedes and BMW there..
Yes, manny of the africans talk 2 languages at least...

Of course not all are poor People for some weird reason picture Somalia whenever they hear "Africa". And some people say media don't talk about poverty enough...

I can summarize my thoughts on Africa without answering all questions indivudally.
Face it, Africa is a lost case. A continent without a future than being recolonized by the Chinese.
It has been a fail continent since they did not manage to invent the wheel.
Africa was thousands of years behind in development when we europeans colonized it. Slavery has existed within all cultures. It should not come as a suprise that we enslaved and bought slaves from African chiefs. It has always been the weak that have been the slaves, and Africa was in that position and still is weak compared to all other continents.
The africans would probably have contiuned to live in mud huts if we had not colonized the continent.
Everybody knows that all these stuff like poverty and aids etc exists in Africa. There is nothing new to report. There are few riots in subsaharan African cities because its hard to organize people without using internet and mobile phones etc.
We can not babysit Africa. We did not create Africas problems. Africa has had problems from day one. Africa has got to take responsibility for itself. The governments have to be pure and care for the best interests of their people.
But that is not realisitc and not going to happen.
Again, Africa is a lost case. There is nothing new to report since there has always been poverty etc there. I do not see how Africa in any way could get up to western standards.

They need to have something that people want. That will give them money. That is half the battle. The other half of the battle is how that money is spent.
They do provide a lot of resources now, and while a lot of that money gets soaked up by foreigners or the domestic elite, Africa has indeed improved throughout the last century (though the spread of AIDS since the 80s has really been a backlash). Now China is investing heavily in Africa and expanding their blue-water navy to secure their interests. China is preparing to use them as mass-producing low-end manufactures now that China itself is trying very, very hard to wean itself off of that role. A new, large body of labor is going to needed to take their place. This entails - relative to current African standards - a better future.
Also as a general note: North Africa is culturally, politically, and historically associated with the Arab world. Sociologists and economists typically exempt this part of the continent when talking about Africa because N. Africa has a very different situation and background. It's a region that had invaded and conquered part of Europe not so long ago in human history, not the other way around, and the time it spent under colonialism was relatively brief and less thorough, as they were able to resist it more successfully than most other places.
About my thoughts on the OP's questions:

1. Because the world has much less invested in Africa than other places, and because most people see conflict in Africa as normal. There is a stronger reaction when there is a bad event somewhere that is unaccustomed to bad events.
2. We do hear about it on the news. We hear about it less frequently because of the reasons given in question #1, and because it's more difficult to get consistent, reliable journalism in a dangerous enough area.
3. The conflicts related to Jews/Muslims have very strong political and religious connotations for a lot of people. The Arab world and generally Muslims across the world have a very strong connection compared to an often more apathetic secular person.
4. I don't understand what you're saying. Unified front on what?
5. Because mandating how and when to use your genitalia is very difficult.
6. Refer to question #2.
7. For the same reason we're generally not bothered if some guy that we don't know across the street dies of cancer.

When you've done answering all of those ask yourself the real question of this thread - Are we as people that racist towards black men and why at all ? Majority of you probably doesnt view yourselves as such but can you state so without a doubt ? Is there no racism in your country ? I've switched 3 countries so far and visited at least 30 and it's the same everywhere, so... WHY ? 
In collage I was a history minor and pretty much all my history classes involved Africa. I think a small part of the problem is that people think that Africans are so poor, so in the dumps that they just loose hope and get turned off. If anything I think we talk too much of continent's poverty and need to talk about why we can have hope for Africa.
What do you say that we read up more on the continent and post some information about it. I think the place to start would be the continent's history. I think if people learn about the place they might have more hope for Africa. What do you say?

havent asked anyone to go and protest, however seen a few protests regarding other countries so I was wondering why doesnt the same occur for African countries
@ Shyranis, indeed it is a vast part of the slavery however in china, haiti and many other places kids are beng sold by their parents into slavery for 10 bucks, so human trafficking isnt the only part of the problem and the numbers are as high as 36 million worldwide... thought of that makes me 
@Angelito, first of all I wasnt trying to offend africans nor your wife in any way, If I had done so, accept my sincere apologies. 
Regarding what you have said, of course your statement is correct but the vast majority is indeed poor and ignorant to many things, trivial to us...

regarding the Unified front... well ur american, U must know hoe african americans feel as a community, but they fail to stand up unified - uncle toms, bling blings etc are the phrases that should explain what i mean, just dont think I should take it there since majority of people here arent americans... my bad on that one

AFAIK most of northern Sudan subscribes to the "Nation of Islam" sect, which is the redheaded stepchild of mainstream Sunni Islam. Most other Muslims would somewhat distance themselves from them and not want to draw attention to it. Plus, again, during the peak of destruction in Darfur you couldn't hardly get reliable journalism because it was too dangerous.

They're people; it's not like they're going to all agree on everything because they're black. Are they suppose to form an "African American Party"? That would be an enormous step backwards. It would be downright embarrassing for the country.
90% of blacks vote for Democrat candidates, which reflects their general position.

If this is true and they did that just because Obama is semi-black then that's a bit horrible imo because its just wrong to vote on someone just because of their skin colour and not their opinions.
If I moved the US and would like the Democrats, I would vote on the DEMOCRATS and not OBAMA. Political opinions of the party VS a single person's charisma and looks.
Anyway, all cultures who did not invent the wheel have been pwned. Subsaharan africans, native americans and australians. All civilizations started with the wheel.

Blacks have had a very, very strong lean toward Democrats since the 1960s. Hispanics are somewhat more balanced though they still lean Democrat.
