My friends called me to play HoMM3 when I was about 9-10 years old and I absolutely loved that game. Necropolis was my favorite and
I still play.

I was 17 or so, when I got a copy of HoMM 1 and 2 through a friend of mine, not necessarily together or in that order, I really don't recall. My memory isn't clear, neither game really struck me enough to make me a real fan (although I do remember enjoying both of them, they were just "faces in the crowd" among other games I played).
Somewhere in I think 2000, I got a copy of HoMM3 through my brother, who had gotten one from a friend of his. That was when I got hooked to the series and my brother even let me have the copy as he wasn't that interested.
From that moment on, the series had a fan more . I've since bought the Gold Edition up to and including HoMM V (which I also bought separately, with all expansions, before the Gold Edition was released) as well as M&M:H6, including all expansions.

I was about 14-15 when my friend introduced me to homam 2. I got hooked right away and we played often whole night on his computer (back then I didnt have mine). To this day my gaming marathon record is playing homam 2 with afore mentioned friend for 54 hours without sleep hehe those were the times! Another thing I just have to mention is that dragons looked the best in homam 2

I guess when I was 8-9 (c. 2002) my elder brother introduced me to HoMM3; I still remember he was playing Rampart and I got interested by the screen of a greenish forest town with centaurs - these memories are priceless. Actually Heroes was one of the first video games I played alongside with Civ3.
Then in two years or like, on my birthday we went to a video game shop to choose a present. A salesman offered us Armaggedon's Blade but said it required an original RoE disk that we didn't have so instead we bought Disciples II - and I don't regret it in the slightest.
Subsequently he bought me HoMM4. Surprisingly I liked the gameplay: it fascinated me how I could buy my heroes items and command them on the battlefield. Though after years when I tried to play Heroes4 again I failed to grasp the gameplay and its spirit as I used to do.
On my 12th birthday they bought me HoMM5. First I tried to launch a singleplayer scenario but failed to get the weird building tree hidden by default, so I was playing the campaign. I really missed a facile tutorial from Heroes 3 - especially since the whole Human campaign replacing it is astonishingly boring.
In the year 2009 I caught the virus of nostalgia and started playing HoMM3 and then got curious of HoMM1. I downloaded its demo and liked the simplistic and enjoyable gameplay. Then I bought the full pack of Heroes 1-3 and discovered the beauty of Heroes 2.
I haven't still played Heroes 6 and in all sincerity I ain't got a wish to do.
