Typing is so much easier than talking over a game; I still haven't adjusted to it.
I made a barbarian/rogue named Zerru. Got him up to level 5 this morning if somebody wants to invite him sometime.

How is typing easier? You have to constantly stop and then type and then do that the whole game whereas somebody like me just talks and I can ask people things or for help without having to touch a single button. How is that really any easier? I just wish that all people would stat doing that because I don't always look at what is being typed in the Guild Chat and find myself ahead of everyone because people decided to go elsewhere. Seriously, you guys have to start talking on mics. The game I had the other day was extremely frustrating because I was doing my best to help you guys out and you just piss off to another room without letting me know hence why I left. Team work doesn't seem to be some of your (not just you Blizz) weaker points. Maybe sticking together as a group and communication wouldn't go a long way.
Also, I'm adding a real life mate into the Guild so whenever I'm online he may be as well and I already asked Meroe and it's okay by her.

Mics can be difficult because if you have several people chatting you can easily have people talking over each other and overall it just feels chaotic, because you aren't actually face to face with people and so you can't follow people's body language for when they're about to talk, ect... you just push a button and start talking. Also it's nice to be able to look at what somebody said at any time in chat, since people might be AFK, or they might not catch what you said while you're fighting and fireballs are going off and such. Most people use mics for FPS games, because those games demand both of your hands at all times, but an MMO isn't very demanding so typing isn't a big deal.

That never really happens and if you find somebody else talking then you just wait. I've been doing that for long enough to know it's not really an issue. It's more useful than typing. Seriously. You're in the middle of combat and quickly need to ask for help, do you not do a thing and then start typing or do you do the quickest way and just talk? How is that really harder? If we actually did what you said and started typing all the time then there'd be more deaths and all. We need to quickly talk, not type. What if somebody needs help? Come on..

Blizz I'll send your new toon an invite by mail. So next time you log on, check your mail
Barby/Rogue huh. Are you just going to give him 2 splashes of rogue and leave the rest barby???
What made you choose that build?
EDIT: RE: the argument for typing vs mic. I use both. I used to have hand free, until one guy told me he liked questing with me because I squeaked!! I do squeak so now its no longer hands free. But I can't stand typing when there is action. I can't do it, way too much going on. But to each his own. One of my main reasons for getting a mic was twofold :- as a cleric I needed to bark orders at people, which meant I never had the time to heal and type at the same time = my comments always ended up coming after the event.

So I started playing yesterday as I was sort of...bored.
I'm taking the easy way out by following a pre-set online build as I don't trust myself of managing anything good and I trust the pre-set classes even less.
The build in question will be pretty much pure cleric, but with a splash of warrior for fun claymore/battleaxe action.
So if you see a certain lost noob somewhere out there, please, give him a hand.

@Oscarius - we're on the Thelanis server. And when you get there, just post your toon's name in this thread and someone will invite you to the guild.
If you do need to create your toon again, customizing it is really the way to go. The pre-builds are basically good, but cater for 'everyone'. Building a cleric is easy. You max out your Wisdom (that's the primary Cleric stat), whatever is left you should put in as much into Charisma as possible (this affects your ability to turn undead and your Radiant Servant). Cleric's don't need to fight, therefore don't need strength. They are encumbered by heavy armor, so dexterity is wasted. Constitution is easily bypassed by items you loot etc. That's my advice. The only Skills you need are Diplomacy and Heal.
My build would look something like this:-
28pt build - Human Cleric (Human's get an extra Feat and are the best cleric's imo).
Your abilities as a 28pt build will start you off on 8 for every ability. You will get 28 points to build up your abilities. For a cleric you need to build them up to this:-
Str - 8
Dex - 8
Con - 10
Wis - 18
Cha - 16
You will get 8 skill points - put 4 into Diplomacy and 4 into Heal. And you only need to do this every time you level.
As a human you will get two Feat (rather than one). A normal Feat and a Human Bonus Feat. You will need to get Empower Healing and Improved Turning (for your level 1 cleric). A properly built Cleric really steals the show when battling undead. You will lead the kill count I assure you
This is the way I have built my cleric's. I have had three level 20's, two pure and one battle. Getting my pure cleric's to level 20 was easy, the battlecleric was a long hard slog. Then I deleted her. She was rubbish. She couldn't even heal as well as my level 5 cleric at the time.
But it all depends on what you want. If you want a Battlecleric (a waste of time in my opinion), then the pre-build Warpriest of Siberys might be your answer. But a battlecleric isn't really a cleric. Anything taken away from his Wisdom will affect his spell points and ability to heal and heal effectively. He won't ever be as good a fighter as anyone else, neither will he be a worthy healer. If you get into the game and enjoy it, you will find that battlecleric's are pretty much hated, because they end up useless - can't fight, can't heal.
So if you like the idea of a fighter who can effectively heal the party (not the best but pretty damn good), I suggest buying the Favored Soul class and doing that instead. Favored Soul's are the natural born battlecleric's lol. IMHO. Or if you just really want a melee character who can heal himself, go for Paladin or Ranger.
But welcome anyways, hope you have fun. Hope this helps

1 or 2 levels in fighter with cleric can be worthwhile because of the 2 bonus feats, and also because fighters are the only class that automatically give you Tower Shield Proficiency. Tower shields give you 2 more AC than heavy shields, but at -2 to hit, but as a cleric you're going to be relying almost entirely on spells, so the to-hit penalty means very little.
You want to avoid heavily multiclassing with a spellcasting class because spells are not scaled proportionally. A level 9 cleric spell is more than 9 times powerful than a level 1 cleric spell. You definitely want to at least get to level 16 cleric so that you have access to level 9 spells.

Blizz is correct. Problems with multi-classing is some classes take to it better than others. If you wish to multi-class its better to choose from classes that have shared abilities i.e. Charisma - Favored Soul/Bard/Sorceror or Intelligence - Wizard/Rogue etc. And for every extra class you add to your character, the more it detracts from your skills, feats and enhancements (your spreading yourself thin in other words). Multi-classing is for those players who have an endgame vision in sight i.e. using that character to excel at one particular quest (normally an Epic quest at level 20) in order to get items/crafting green steel weapons etc.
I'm a believer is playing pure class anyway, so its just my opinion. But then I've been playing for just over a year now. Ultimately you should play how you want
EDIT: Right I've created my HC ddo skype account. Guys do you really think I was going to let you know my real name ... *scoffs*, I can only imagine the filth I would get from certain members ... yes you know who you are!!. So you can find me as MercyMeHC or failing that MercyMe.
