First impression from Heroes 6 Beta NO SPOILERS
I have to say simply WOW, I m impress the creatures they ability the hero development OMG , Can't go to the details I m not allowed . For me there is So many positive things.
Now about the negative town screen is bit weird maybe I will get used to it, and the creature animation when not in combat not there so you can't really enjoin the amazing creatures outside the battle .
Other than that This game is AMAZING !! if you are a fan of heroes 2-3 You will LOVE THIS ONE !

As far as gamepleay goes it's amazing, correct strategy makes huge difference even in the begining. Also Core creatures appear to be usefull against elites just fine, tehy certainly won't be left behind as easily.
What I miss is the feeling, it has good music, and the graphics are nice and well made. However, there is no grandiose feeling, the town windows are very medicore, and everything is small(except the hero on the sombat screen, which is nice).
However these are things that I hope will be improved upon.
It has great innovation, it improved upon the combat, strategy, and systems all together, while still keeping the essence of a H3 gameplay, but misses the thing that they got just fine in H5: town screens
Still a very nice game, especially considering it's not even the beta.
This is just a first look tought...

How does the whole 'warfare' aspect of the game feel with the improved RPG mechanics?

I'm not a fan of the creature design, faction ideologies and the "less than original" heroes I guess.
The music also seem forgettable compared to the other games.
I'm also not fond of the lack of town screens, the way some things are worded and the various creature/item descriptions.
*sigh*...

Agree with you on most of the above points (only a select few creature designs I don't like), despite that I've been enjoying the server test immensely.
Played quite a few games already.

To be honest as of this build it's much more like the man behind the man, but there is a lot of things to expand on, without destroying the "commander" feeling.
By the way the cutscenes are far superior, despite the still present bugs.

Please alert me if I am going to close on the edge of the NDA.
Positive
* The graphics are gorgeus.
* The new core, elite and champion system is working out good but it has a huge flaw which I will explain later.
* I love the new ability/spell system!
* I really like the small things like that creatures do an animation while defending. Several animations are really nice.
Negative
* I'm sorry, but the game just completly lacks a "soul". I just feel in a completly different way when playing H5 and H3 or even H4. H6 doesnt really feel like a Heroes game. It doesnt really have the atmosphere which may be because of the reason below...
* The battles are way to long and tendious because creatures have way to much health coupled with that several creatures have Healing abilties now which makes Ghosts just as annoying to fight as in H5. Sieges can take FOREVER.
* Everything is so small. In H5, everything feels much larger.
* Honestly, I am begining to feel like I liked H5s style better... atleast the spells looked ten times better in H5. Maybe WoW has ruined me because now I want cartoonish graphics back but not llie the h5 peasants, I think the H5 Stronghold creatures had perfect graphics because it was still kind of cartoonish but no creature was silly like the H5 Skeletons or Peasants.

Surprisingly, I think I'll have to play the arbiter of balance this time.
This version of the beta lacks a lot of the content which I suppose will be present in the release version. There is only 1 battle theme, some of the creatures aren't "sound-screened" completely or at all, many skills have incomplete descriptions and even seem to act a bit randomly and so on and so forth. So nobody should panic because the game looks "soulless" at the moment.
The balance is non-existent at this stage and a lot of work will be needed to reach even the level of Heroes V. This is what the public beta should be mostly concerned with, apart from clearing bugs and such which, curiously, don't seem to be that many.
A lot of nice and innovative abilities and a lot of seemingly useless ones. One more thing which should be the public beta's focus.
The main menu is a disgrace, hopefully it's just a placeholder.
The maps feel VERY empty and it's like the map maker (Marzhin?) has struggled to fill them with... something just to disguise the lack of diversity. Yes, that's mainly because the resources are less than before, respectively less piles, less mines, etc. Do shut up all of you "4 is better than 7", ye hear me! Couldn't find much neutral objects too but again this could be due to missing content.
The Glories are pain in the ass, period!
I'll need quite some time to get used to the new tier system - it changes many things and while some of the changes look nice, other just feel very artificial and limited.
Anyway, enough for today.

I have to agree with Xerox, the game lacks soul. It all feels very generic -- and that for a game which had its release date pushed back multiple times.
My major complaint are the town screens. They are absolutely atrocious. Most buildings don't even show up on the town screen after built, and even if they did it wouldn't matter because you don't even SEE the town screen while building. I'm sorry, but the town screen has always been the second-to-most important thing in the franchise to me. I don't believe they will manage to fix this for the final version. Experience has taught me beta versions never change THAT much.
[Note: We already knew this so it's not in violation of the NDA.]
My other major complaint is the art style. For one, the creatures on the map screen are very difficult to see. And secondly, I just don't 'get' the art style. All previous HoMMs -- EVEN the fifth -- had a very distinctive HoMM-style, but here's it's just... Like they pulled stock images from the web. Of course we've had screenshots before, and they look gorgeous, but in the actual game it's just so-so.
