You do realise that Chemo itself damages cells (to kill the cancerous cells aswell) also there is a possibility (don't want to give uncomfirmed statistics) that the chemo will actually reduce your life expectency (not that the doctors would tell you, ask 'em to be sure though, for me ), not to mention it will drastically weaken you.

Uhu, I know all that. I seen it happen. I'm not going to pass judgement on what is preferable, that's for duke to decide, but you've been going on for quite a while that he'll make it and if you honestly believe that, you'd say he should take this treatment, since, even though it's hell and the chances are lousy and rotten and really no chances at all, they're his only chances as far as I reckon.

You do realise that cancer is a disease, a defect if you will and you don't have to be a bio-chemist to know that any defect/ problem has a solution, the key is finding the problem, which is often eridicated at its source, the key is to find the source. Cancer is not the problem/source and thinking so would truly be a doomed battle, it is simply the effect of the source as with all diseases.

Since i don't have said disease i cannot pin-point the source (true problem), but i'm doing my best to find it.

Chemotherapy targets the cancer and not the source, that is why it is doomed to fail and even if it succeeds killing the cancer, it will often return because the source is not reckoned with, hence why i'm so strongly against chemotherapy not just for the fact that it may also cause more damage then good.

I'm a solutionist (not qite sure it's a word) hope that clears things up, though I have no illusions about my advice having any more effect on our dear Duke then the rest of you, but typing it down clears up my own perspective.

I respect your stand and opinion (regardless of the fact that I consider it flawed :S, mostly due to the fact that it is raw and unrefined, from my perspective of course), though I have no doubt that I have minimal influence on Dukes               decision(s), I still feel that it is necessary that I voice my own perspective. (of course unless Duke requests otherwise)

Goodnight & sweet dreams to you too

I suspect that being thrusted into the role of a man fighting with cancer is problematic in that even though it's a lot to take in just from the standpoint that you'll propably not get better, but when it also breaks your routine and changes the way everyone looks at you, the change becomes overwhelming. It's as if everything you knew from before turns out wrong.

You can't return at this point. You'll need to get used to it and face the challenges ahead of you; it's now about you becoming mature.

Also, chemo is better than dying. Not that it'll necessarily allow you to live.

I hate the fact that chemo is thrust upon people as the only solution (i said above why i don't regard it as a solution at all) though i don't know Duke, hence why I don't offer my personal solutions to said problem (not a matter of knowing, it's a matter of knowing my place in another persons life).

But yes i'm sure we can all imagine ourselves in Dukey's shoes (no doubt most of us have) and it might seem cruel, but you receive what you need the most and when you reach the summit (i don't beleive in a summit but it is required to convey my thought ) you'll see with gods eyes (hopefully) that said pain and suffering was indeed necessary to accomplish your goal. (And if you don't have one it is high time i.m.o that you found your target)

Would you perhaps know a better alternative to chemo then mr Ivor?

Or is it just skip chemo and hope for the best?

Adrius I hope i'm wrong in believing that you are stating that Mr Ivor believes  that happy thoughts will render the cancer harmless, because that is incorrect.

All i'm permitted to give is the know-how to find the source and the know-how to eliminate it i cannot do it for Dukey even if he was a loved family member, because i'd be overstepping my boundries as a human.
He has to fight his own battle, if not he perishes simple as (though it seems cruel in a way)

Adrius see this in anyway you will, but it will put my mind at ease.  I'm not allowed to fight Duke's battle (not like he'd permit me, thank god), but no I do not have a solution since i do not know what the problem is, all I know is that chemo in my book doesn't qualify even as a temporary solution.

I'm not trying to confuse any of you, nor do I want to look like a know-it-all, I just know enough and I truly believe that theres a solution to said problem, even if duke takes nothing from what i write, I learnt my lesson from this dreadful situation.

Honestly, if chemo is the best chance of survival one has against cancer, you should take it. Even if it gives you only an estimated five more years, that's still more than you probably had before. If we are talking about your life, live for as long as you can.

Even a year is better than a few months.

Ive had a teacher in college that cured her cancer through a very specific raw vegan diet (its true, I dont particularly believe in the powers of raw veganism, just stating a fact). She never ate anything outside that diet since that day. My aunts teacher supposedly cured his cancer  solely on lots of chi-gong (energy exercises), but I cannot confirm this one. In any case, I would try to eat less meat (in statistical terms, incidence of cancer is much higher in people that eat red meat, though there is no scientific evidence to back this up, only statistical ones, which could be meaningless). Careful though, if you retreat from meat youll have to pay a lot of attention to your feeding so as not to weaken. Again,  I am not a believer or follower of any of these practices, but if I were in your position, I would definately take a look at them (not saying to exclude chemo, just giving some options that can be followed with or without chemo).

My best wishes to you, try to somewhat keep your routine (dont know if it helps, but I do think it does).

Raw vegetables and fruits come up often when I look into a 'cure', but as a man of science I do not recommend anything unless I'm convinced (and i'm not, yet anyhow), but it is something to consider and look into in further detail , though the level of sharlatans in this area are high so try to be careful when isolating the truth from false, but I have no doubt that there's a cure that's so simple that it'll make you feel like a fool.#

Also why is thread still in the VW??? And if it is my fault in anyway let me know how to rectify it .

I asked Elvin to move this post to the Taven, QP awarded to Duke Falcon.

I wanted to give a QP to Khalbrae also for his long informative post but it wouldn't be proper of me to do so without enough other people agreeing his post is worthy (Pg 3, Post 14 I think? I don't play favourites, so I don't just award people I know without justification)

Edit: If you see other posts you think are worthy of QPs, let me know in the thread in question or in the Tavern Feedback thread.

I read (wrongly it seems) that posts could not receive qp's 'anymore'.

But I agree Khalbrae's post deserves a qp. though the last bit is a nice suggestion on how Duke should use what he has to help others, though this does seem rather disheartening from my point of view. (I have no doubt that this was not his intention) But yeah i believe anyhow that a qp is in order.

Shall i post my 'recommendation' (note this would be the first) on the tavern feedback, or since I am talking directly to you won't this be rather pointless or shall I just go ahed with it and not give such consideration to what I post

Keep up the great work. What's the point of not trying? The very best you get is nothing if you don't try, the very worst you get is worse.

At least the worst you can get from trying is the best of not. But chances are you'll get at least a little better. You can do it! *hug*
