I was meaning to ask you, how do you tell apart the genders of the insects?

It depends on.
Some species have different appearence for males or females (colours, shapes, etc.) while some species have bigger females than males.
And yes, in some cases you need a magnifying glass to check the genital of the specimen.

If you have\get books about insects those contains descriptons where usually written what's the differences between the genders of the same species.

Awww, I miss bats. The house I grew up in was a big remodeled house from the Victorian era, except the attic still looked like something in a Harry Potter movie, and bats were able to get inside it from somewhere, and then occasionally they could make their way into the house. My mother would start ****ting bricks whenever she saw one, and then I'd come charging in with my broom and gloves to capture it (since my dad would often end up killing them) They're cute in their own way, although it's good for me that their tiny razor teeth can't puncture leather. The bats I caught looked identical to that one.

Bat's are real cute.  I remember when I used to go holidaying with my family to Italy, not far from the Dolomites mostly.  At dusk the bats used to fly past and the evening sky just used to go black because there were so many of them.  I used to love it.  It was like something from the movie Pitch Black.

Bats are really cool indeed, I can't wait for the future when they will replace those stupid birds. I'd love to see bats as common animals during the day.
(fun fact: I just remembered that I have seen Pitch Black...)

Man I can't believe that you have such huge insects and spiders and Hungary.

I was on a trip again, so despair mortals!

I was on a little trip again which cause another massive load of nature photos!
Enjoy!

That's me (hehe) at the beginning of the trip. I pose in the very border of a nature protected territory where I made some biomonitoring again...

And here comes what I have shooted:

Chlorophorus varius - male specimen, feeding on Solidago canadensis' flowers

Graphosoma lineatum (italicum in old books) - mating couple

Chorthippus albomarginatus - brachyptere female specimen

Euthystyra brachyptera - female. This one is a very pretty specimen!

Mantis religiosa - green male adult

Mantis religiosa - brown male adult

Mantis religiosa - green female adult

Mantis religiosa - green female nymph

Mantis religiosa - brown female nymph

Bombus lapidarius - worker during work

Metryoptera bicolor - female adult specimen, she was really brave as she didn't run away as I approached to her...

Palomena prasina - freshly molted adult female

Platycleis affinis - adult female katydid about 4 cm long with her wings...

Platydracus stercorarius - pressumably female...

Scolia hirta - female

Scolia hirta - male

Spechodes albilabris - mayhaps female?

Arion rufus

A whole bunch of critters I know but I hope this won't reduce the quality of this thread because of some pic-loading-lags
