Dark Souls
Dark Souls just got a glowing review at Gamespot (9.5/10). Anyone else try it?
I tried Demons Souls but couldn't get past the punishing difficulty. Seriously, the game straight up kicked my ass all over the room.
And supposedly Dark Souls is even harder. I like challenge, but ALL games should have multiple difficulty settings for those of us that just want to see the sights without getting raped every three seconds.

I'm heavily contemplating it. I do enjoy a challenge. However, I don't have Xbox Live and the reviews have emphasized how great the online components are. I don't like missing out on something because I don't want to pay another monthly bill.
I have found it funny how many reviews have stated what a great sense of accomplishment is felt upon not dying in an area. It almost feels like they are reading their competitor's reviews, think it's a good point, and throw it into their review.

Looks pretty interesting, I like games that beat the **** out of me without being unfair.
A PC version would be nice though.

I too have considered it, especially since it's coming out on Xbox, but in the end I decided to cancel my pre-order for it and Battlefield 3, not going to have enough time with my studies, hell Skyrim alone will dominate most of my free-time any-how.
I wouldn't mind dying a few hundred times, but seems like a time and energy consuming game, neither which I've got to spare

Well, due to 0 impulse control, I picked up Dark Souls. Due to me being at work, I am unable to play it at the moment.

I will be switching between Dark Souls and Rage tonight, so I will let you know how successful I was at killing the dragon with a rocket launcher.
Correction: I will let you know how Rage is next Tuesday. The game's files should be done decrypting by then.

I'm sure Doomforge will come and say "It is very easy. Too easy for me", like he says for every game, I remember even for Diablo 3
Anyway it seems interesting. But no PC version yet Also I'm not that wonderfully talented a gamer, so if it is really that difficult, I would probably stop playing it. And why are you so sure there won't be a PC version Omega?

It's a PS3 exclusive, I believe.
EDIT: Nevermind, it's only PS3 exclusive in Japan.

Mostly due to my pessimistic nature, Nocturnal. This doesn't strike me as a game that will be ported to the PC. Call it a hunch.
EDIT: Wow. Just wow. Rage's pop-up textures are horrendous to look at. Looks like I'll stick with Dark Souls for now and wait for Rage to be patched.
EDIT 2: Hmm... I can appreciate that Dark Souls is a hard game. I do not understand why people think it's so awesome dying every fight, losing all your exp and currency, and having to redo everything. Perhaps I am just missing something.

That's exactly how I felt playing Demons Souls. I *really* wanted to like it, but I just didn't get any enjoyment out of dying constantly and having to redo everything. I felt if there was a difficulty setting that was just a pinch easier.... well, I don't understand why as a developer you don't make more than one difficulty setting. That way everyone can find a setting they like.
It's a perplexing design decision.

There are hard games out there tho, even for me Albeit rpg/hacknslash are my speciality so ... I doubt this game would be of any problem.

Please name me some these games, I would love to try and see how many minutes I will get until I see "game over"
And I would also like to ask: in DA: O if you killed Flemeth-dragon, did you find it difficult? Cause that was the one combat I escaped doing, quick loaded and chose "give me the grimoire, I'll tell Morrigan I killed you" option and ran like hell to my camp.

You could just always spec a mage with Blood mage and Arcane warrior.

Puzzle: Supaplex (I made it to level 102 IIRC of 111 but going further is like hell), The Incredible Machine 1 (got to level 45 or so and got stuck forever), Lemmings (god this requires WAYYY to much patience!)
Arcade: Abe's Odyssey (never finished the damn game, not only hard but also I don't know where to go), Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion (damn those green things that hop around...), Crystal Caverns episode 2 and 3 (especially 3, first was easy), 4D Prince of Persia (extremely EVIL custom levels, almost impossible to beat without loads of practice)
Action: Cannon Fodder, that cannon island map haunts me to this day, Xenon2 Megablast (extremly fun game, but extremely hard on later levels - too much stuff coming at you!)
HackNslash: Diablo 1:The Hell Mod (try solo multiplayer), Titan Quest: Underlord mod (try any non-overpowered untwinked build in act IV)
RPG: The Witcher Flash Mod: Impossible difficulty (yup, it's HARD.)
Turn strategy: Battle Isle 2 (aka Battle Isle 2200), some missions are near impossible with the time limit.
Simulators: A-10 Tank killer with "realistic" setup... damn SAMs will shoot you out of the sky like npnp
Console games: Ninja Gaiden 1-3 - next to unbeatable
As you see there are quite a few games that gave me a headache yes most are mods or really old games where difficulty was legendary, because mainstream games are made for "average gamer" who gets frustrated whenever he doesn't own things left and right.

Actually, my Arcane Warrior could solo the dragon without breaking a sweat. So no. I gave bows to the others and they just autoattacked from safe distance to avoid AoE attacks that would kill them (to spare me the fuss of wasting medkits afterwards) and my immortal AW just tanked. Very easy battle if you play it that way.

The only thing I hate more than Arcane Warriors are people who play them.
I remember sweating my ass off as a rogue at times and my pals going "Really? I don't know, my Arcane Warrior derpa derpa killed everything hurr durr no problems."
