Going back to the topic at hand, I don't think Dark Souls is the game for me. I think the only reason people praise it is so they don't feel stupid for dying the 30th time trying to advance to the next bonfire. A lot of reviewers love the sense of accomplishment they feel when they finally succeed. That is fine and dandy until immediately after that moment, you die due to a cheap poison or magically armored boar. I also hear how much gameplay there is in Dark Souls; up to 90 hours! Yeah, that's because you'll be replaying the game a lot. Hope you enjoy loading screens.
It's funny, because of the three most recent games I've purchased; Rage ($60 on PC. Thanks for that id.), Dark Souls ($60), and The Binding of Issac ($4.50), I've had the most fun with Issac and believe it offers the best value for the money.
Lastly, as to DA: Origins, I stopped playing after my third hub area. It just didn't hook me. It felt like the last 5 games Bioware had made. The "dark fantasy" setting and the fact that just about every Bioware RPG follows the same formula (Personal tragedy, Memeber of exclusive organization, Visit 4 different planets and do X, blah, blah, blah), made the game feel stale.

What I don't understand is - alright, you're an ethical lawyer but - why don't you download the game first to see if it's crap and then, if you like it, go out and buy it.
I mean we're talking ridiculous prices here. Well, probably not that ridiculous to you Americans, but I'm pretty sure you'd still rather not spit out $60 on total shyte.

Caveat emptor, Bak. I chose to preorder the game instead of waiting for reviews. It was my impulsive nature (pretty much only towards video games) that led me to buy it.
I would have loved a demo but we don't get many of those these days. As to downloading, it's not my style.

I read one review of the game, and it basically said that it's very good because it is very hard lol.
so devs are all wrong. why bother trying to make super duper graphics when all they need to do is an almost impossible game. moreover that requires far less work. they don't even need to balance it. hell, it could be totally impossible and they could still justify themselves like blackhole with MMH6 "you haven't yet discovered all the subtleties of the gameplay"

The fans would agree wtih that strategy. As I said in an earlier post, try to tell them the game is cheap and they will rabidly attack you.

As I've said elsewhere - I have not played Dark Souls but I've played its predecessor. And while I loved the look and feel of the game, I just have the time or interest anymore to try a level 400 times until I can hit every button at precisely the right moment in order to succeed. At one point I had spent like 45 minutes wading my way through a level only to bump into some blue eyed freak that smacked me down in one hit. Boom, all souls lost. I can try one time to go back to that spot and rescue my souls, but now I'm down all my healing herbs, so what are the chances of that? In other words 45 minutes gone.
That's just not fun for me.
Add on to the fact that the game just doesn't forgive mistakes, even ones made accidentally. Early on, I made the error of attacking one of the NPCs in the Nexus (safe zone), and he became permanently pissed at me. Every time I was in the safe zone, he would chase me down and kill me. And from what I've read, there's no way to reset this in the game. He's pissed forever. Sorry you lose.

Gotta say reading all of this makes my mind say "Pffft how hard can it be?"
Part of me wants to try it out and own it so I can shove it in people's faces. Part of the appeal I guess.

What catches my attention here is that people over here dont complain about the true flaws of the game but just are generally not interested in the game.
Eventho i love dark souls the thing that pissed me off the most about it was their marketing campaign. it was supposed to have improved multiplayer and able to play against people all over the world whethever they be in eu asia or the usa. now theorecitly this is true but why alot of people like demon souls is to play with your friends. and eventho it sais on the bakc of the box "Ground breaking online features" and a TV ad that claims "Gather your frieds"
The problem was the server exists out of tiny sub servers and there is no way to decide wich one you are on. so you can be stuck for hours without meeting a single soul. if you want to play with friends and play on a ps3 good luck enyoy spending hours tryin to get onto the same server as your friends. same with orbs
They are terribly tedious to farm and once you use one chances are you wont find anyone to Gravelord and you will have wasted your orb.
On the other hand invading people is Terribly fun. the only way to play this game is online and in alive mode if you do play offline you will miss out on most of the awesome things in the game.
But for everyone saying Dark souls is a hard game? It is the same as Demon souls it's an EASY game when you know what you are doing.
Also is starts out hard but mellows out at the end.
