I am loving Heroes VI, my two cents...
Patch 1.2 is better, and with further patches to come, it will make the game even better...(loving stronghold campaign mission 3 at the moment picking up loads of troops for free!)

Better than something worse is better, but overall good ? Just no.
1.2 is goddamn awful if we think about the wait & bug section & behaviour of ubi_irina ("community" related ? rofl i hate her already).
Still bugs, bad tweaks... list goes on.
You can't love this game.

Help needed! Has anyone had to re-install the game after patch 1.2 came out? I need to get a new hard drive for my comp today, and will re-install the game. However, I don't want to lose my saved games or progess.. and am not sure I can count on the game synchronization alone. How could I backup my saves, etc? Just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this. Thank you!!

Your opinion != others' opinion.
If I could endure the whole Fallout II, I don't see that much problem with Heroes VI.

Are you sure that you don't mean Fallout III?

Don't tell me you don't know about the bugfest that's called Fallout II (2)?

You don't have to worry about that... the patch notes said 1.2 is *NOT COMPATIBLE* with old saves.

Oh, I most certainly know the game, one of my favourite, but the bugfest part... Some minor things here and there but nothing game-breaking. I.e. dozens of times better than Heroes VI.

Fallout 2 had over 9000 bugs, but was still fun enough for everyone to endure them .
Most of the bugs were related to quest scripting though. Playing without patch is still a fiesta of bugs.
On topic: game is in a slightly better state now it seems, but it looks like it will require another, if not several more patches. It will take some time until it starts shining in its full glory, hoped for more in this patch.

My old saves still work after I installed patch 1.2 and I continued with them....(campaign saves). I think what Mike80D asked is if his online saves will still "exist" after re-installing the game. Not sure about this...although he may want to backup the My Documents/Might & Magic Heroes VI/dynastydata and profile data files....

I guess I should feel incredibly lucky then because I don't remember any issues severe enough to hold my progress or even to be worth noting. And it's not like I've played the game once.

Yes, that is what I was asking. Its probably a bit too late now b/c my hard drive is completely fresh. I'llbe re-installing Windows tonight, along with Heroes 6. I'll let you all know if the Conflux repopulates my saved games. I hope so!!

Actually, patch 1.2 is compatible with saves (at least for myself and a few other people I know).

From what I see, damage spells have also been boosted. Not sure about prime spells as implosion but definitely elemental spells. it seems my Sandor blood has replaced the Sandor tears in the epilogue campaign choices. I was hoping I could have both . We don't have enough save slots so I didn't save at beginning of tears epilogue with him.

With 1.2, they have only fixed a minority of the bugs, but we still have numerous of them. Will we have to wait months again for a few of them to get fixed? Even if they fixed one bug every 3 days, that would make the game bugless in a short time. But with that speed, they will lose fans for sure.

Fixing bugs won't save them any more. They have to deliver some of the game improvements requested so far and to do it soon, otherwise the game will be deserted, SP and MP. That means town screens, custom maps available for MP, RMG, etc. And the balance has to be fixed as well because currently there are 3 factions available for MP which is just laughable.

When playing the first Sanctuary campaign map, I've stumbled upon an interesting bug / mapmaker's decision: if you fight water elementals - not a serious battle as it may seem at a first glance, btw - for a dynasty staff, you'll acquire the Heroism ability for free.

The game is already dead, just telling you.
600 concurrent steam user + let's say 600 other non-steam user (retail) is less than Heroes 3 on gameranger which is still quite popular.
PS: Because of the state of the game (not a true Heroes) I stoped playing 2 weeks ago. I just read the forum.
I enjoy my time much more with Disciple 2 gold (FOR 5 BUCK ON STEAM) or Aow 2: Shadow Magic (5 BUCKS AGAIN ON STEAM) than with a 50 € rigged Heroes game.

Don't you get heroism for free at start regardless? Due to heroism Being Irina's specialty.
