Fire War Campaign

Map : Fire War Campaign

I have been told that Salamander made this particular map.
I just started playing it about 2 weeks or so ago and we need more maps like this!!

This map is an excellent strategic game with lots of human interaction, and a fair bit of comp interaction.  100% is probably not the way to play this game.  It would be a lot more fun if the comps were a touch smarter.

Well Just thought I'd post a little about this map cause I'd love to see more people with rooms offering this one.. you surely have a game here.

THe different players seem completely even, not mirrored by any means but very balanced.  I think some experts could have some absolutely amazing games here. Loads of towns and options allow for good scout and main (non fatal) warfare.

Well All in All just a GREAT map that I think deserves some recognition!!

Hells yeah to that.

That map rocks!!

Not for everyone though.

Requires a ton of skill and attention to detail.

One mistake and you'll lose vs a great player.

There seem to be endless strategic options on this map.

When I first saw it I was a little overwhelmed at what to do but once the 2 players meet it falls into a beautiful punch/counterpunch.

One of the better maps I have seen.

It is hard work for nothing. It's funny someone discovers this map when HoMM3 is dying. Destro, if you like it, there are others by me in ToH:

Inferno Land (large)

The chess master (medium)

Necro Land (large i think)

Castle empire(xl)

The quest (2 vs 2) map

Dear Salamandre.
Those two maps below + fire-war campaign, I personally have played MANY times off-line, specially Inferno land, where, as I see it is a kinda mini-campaign And U get your fighting skill tested in both Inferno/Necro land ( just take off the golden bow in Inferno land ) and u got a cool but hard start, if your completely new to the game/fighting.
Necro Land, heheheh, the name speaks for itself...I just love the start, even on 100%, and the comp rushes you in week 1 ( LOOL )
Inferno Land (large)
Necro Land (large i think)
All in all ....Thumbs up on those 3 maps

Shackless are banned only in "The chess master". They are quest object in "Fire war campaign" if you are too bothered by opponent "hit/run". I banned them in "Chess master" because I wanted free and strategic moves from both sides, not only huge army+ shackless go straight to other side. The name speaks for it self.

Shackles- new artie in HoMM series

You find hard to fight 5 archangels and 10 blacks for shackles? You people play maps where borders are guarded by 10 times this.

Ah, I forgot...people want everything for free, pandora box with everything inside, refugee camps, relics and so over. Well, this doesn't need a good mapmaker.

Fire war has some 15 towns on. If shackles are available easy, then it's a childish game.

Controversial artefact. Even a master can fail to a newbie when shackles on. Having them is something like Mike Tyson vs Woody Allen.

lol once again i think someone banned em because he lost to em too often. Thats the risk of hit and running u never know if opponent got em or not so u need to try to find it out before or risk all.

if a newbie wins vs a "so called master" just because he got shackles then the master played like  **** and deserves to lose .

i think banning em (and thats what u do  if u guard em this hard and place seers hut in the middle of nowhere) was no good idea

Ok.

First: They are not in middle of no where. If you sail in a boat, you are on next turn in front of the seer. Quite easy.

Second: your ideas are completely poisoned about Heroes. You failed, like many others, to the style 1/2/3 max towns vs same, mirrored maps, one road to opponent. That's why I don't care about.

Third: yes, a master can fail to shackles on my maps, because enemy can come from everywhere, left, right, down or up. The chaining aspect becomes a master detail, and shackles a cheap cheat.

This was a nice thread until Moto chimed in w/comments that clearly showed his IGNORANCE of the subject.

I know closed map players like you couldn't handle it but it is easy to kill Isra on week 3 and take her shackles on fire war campaign.

Of course you'd never make it to wk3 with out some level 7's protecting your overrated all rank/no skill a$$.

Keep talking smack about Frank and others in the zone.

Because talking is ALL you can do.

Now go play your closed maps Utopia-Boy.

Leave the real skill to those who know what they are doing.

Well heres my two cents...

Shackles may well be a quest artie on this map.. However if you look closely, you can attack isra and her 25 ghost dragons and take those shackles from her.

I must admit, although I desperately wanted those shackles in my last game with mocara, due to the fact that his red + gunnar 11 power bolt was decimating my army each turn.. I forgot that when I attacked Isra to get them she would be wearing them.

Anyway me and tazar and fortress army week 3 attack isra in castle and lost lol. 10 ghosts left out of 25.  But then those shackles forbid me to run. but hey was a great and amazingly fun game.

Drunken girlfreind coming hme mid week 2, trying to put her to bed late week 2, mocara killing 4 cows per turn... tazar hitting guild (res and Chain) with no adv wisdom..

A GREAT Game..

Shackles would have ruined it before the point I tried to take them.

The quest is seemingly pleasant after fightig isra, implo, and 25 ghosts in castle

Yeah that was a classic game.

I think maybe you were feeling a lil rushed to kill Isra because Gunnar was so persistent and annoying.

Maybe not.

To Destro's credit I offered a reload and he refused.

He is the true defination of class.

Isra?

Hmmm....I never thought about taking them from Isra. I gave her 100000+ exp, she has many ressources and I believe she will build fast guild level 5. And the cover of darkness is bothering you a lot, you have to keep always a scout on the observatory to remove the shroud.

I thought more that the middle castle is interesting to take for the lev 5 spells, as I allowed it dimension door and fly.

Isra has a 10 squares radius. That is the reason I always sent a scout placing him somewhere around 8-9 squares and taking his wood mine. She will attack and will not get back in castle. Only then I chain to my main and I go inside.

It's much easier to fight Isra from inside, knowing her spells.

In most cases the one who owns the middle castle wins the game.

I put the shackles on map only to satisfied some whinners who seems to enjoy corporal humiliation. To each one his way.

that goes too far, motor never talks like that in his comments, he trys to be funny and a little ironic, i really dont want to read such crap.
i thought we were off that hate talk mocara? that was  pretty bad, believe me motor has a lot of skill he could show you guys anyday...

heres my oppinion: banning shakles sucks, than give fortress or stronghold L7 dwellings to make up for that and disable the archangel, archdevil and drag buildings...same crap.
dont look down in such a way on players that dont like hit and run, and never say they got less skill, coz you so wrong with that, a good plan in map cleaning, fighting guards and other stuff surely requires more skill than hit and run will ever need

( * )( * )= ( * )+( * )

Of course, we could expect it, it turns again into "hit and run" battle.

As I said in a previous thread, my opinion is that the actual closed maps force to ban some good stuff, as tomes, wings, dim door and fly. We spoil the game in that way, unfortunatelly.

Maybe we should think better when making maps, and done them in a way that NOTHING in the game is banned.

Scarce ressources(making a build magic guild harder), strategic utopia, less artefacts, maybe would make the game better.

I don't see why Andi thinks that implosion should be banned but no shackles...

But maybe we banned good relics/spells because of editing maps. If 3DO could give us something as a protection password, all really good stuff could live again.

It bothers me that you two are treating Mocara as "hit and run" guy. It bothers me much more that Motor says I ban shackles because I got "shackled" when I was using H/R.

If anyone remember me doing ONE h/r, he should post here, but you will not find such a person, bc in my hundred or so ToH games I never needed to do it.

Maps we design show our conception about what we would love to see hapen in a game. My maps are interactive and detailed. Only Fire War took me about 1 month to test the balanced agressivity of computers vs human.

You come criticize without even test it.Go play what you like, but avoiding interactive maps will always get Mocara flaming at you guys, because he, at least, tried both ways.
