Best. winner. Ever.
aside from Ott, Loreen, the Grannies, Nina and Pastora, I'd much rather have the results reserved though. Poor Humpy. Poor Jonsi & Greta. Poor Soluna. Poor Tooji. Poor Anggun.

I was a bit surprised that Norway and England faired so badly, I thought they both had pretty good entries. Hungary was deffinitely in my bottom 5 so not very surprised at that.

I was NOT surprised about Norway and the UK doing so poorly... I kinda expect it to fail.
I however WAS shocked by Soluna's awful (and undeserved) result.
and I hope Azerbaijan is kicked out of the ebu it is RUINING the contest (getting fourth place... wtf). I hope Armenia wins in 2013

Much of love from Sweden to the rest of the competing countries... except Italy... Italy sucks... Also, Finlands points should have been worth twice as much as other points because LORDI RULES!!!!
A more serious message:
On behalf of my countrymen I apologize to our beloved nordic brothers for the poor scores given by us. My plan was that Sweden would show them how their glorious and mighty friend loves them when the rest Europe gives them poor score when they clearly deserved better. Please forgive Sweden and do not get a grudge for the next Eurovision which will be legendary.
SWEDEN
113 more points than the much adored russian grandmas.

Well, Sweden giving us 0 points sucked, but I'd rather get 0 point when we have a bad song than 12 points because we are neighboring countries like many of the other countries do, so I guess you did what you should do, and voted for the best songs. It just sucks that we have so bad Eurovision entries.

K this isn't 100% on-topic but I just wanted to post the new avatar i have on the Reality TV board I'm also gracing with my presence:
ANYWAY, I'm going to rank the songs anyway and I'm planning to finish that ranking, so I might just as well c+p the write-ups on HC if people are interested enough?
____________
Coincidence? I think not!!!!
So... yeah... I've been hearing we won. Anybody got a link to the song, or at least the name, so that I can search for it? Because I really have no idea who we even sent, but I'm a bit curious as to at least hear the winner every year, at least once.

Okidoki:
42. Austria Tracksnowtaz with "Woki with deim Popo"
42nd place
How quaint (and convenient) that the song that actually did the worst this year, happens to be the worst in my opinion as well. It doesn't happen often, but when I does, it's oh-so-rewarding. I mean, let's face it when MONTENEGRO's disaster got more points then you, there's no point denying your suckage, right?
But as bad as Montenegro was, Austria was an even bigger disaster imo. Hiphip/rap doesn't sit well with me to begin with (I hate is in approximately 97% of the songs I hear it in - the 3% is Musiqq, MC Hammer and Rebecca Black obviously <3) and it was even made WORSE with the entire "shake your bottom" meme attached to it. I assume that "Woki mit deim Popo" was meant to be some light-hearted, funny, wanton parody of women being used as a lust object in pop culture... but I feel the OPPOSITE effect was achieved.
Not only where women used as a lust object in the performance (not to be a dour puritan, but young children watch this show ffs), the entire performances was just CLASSLESS, profligate and downright annoying, as if the Tracksnowtaz and their dancers just escaped Caligula's imperial bordello. The light effects during the "dark" stage of the act were just a sloppy mess, and they looked TERRIBLE in addition to that too.
And finally, another VERY annoying things about this performance: The Tracksnowtaz themselves. From the use of an obscure dialect, to their non-stop camera-hogging to their "energetic" performance, they were SUCH annoying bozos the entire three minutes.
They might just as well have screamed "LOOK HOW FUN AND QUIRKY WE ARE. WE TRULY ARE HAVING A LOT OF FUN WITH THIS VOTE FOR UZ ::hyuck::", which...... no. It is such a JEDWARD thing to do, only much more forced and it made the entire ensemble even more disastrous. I'm glad this finished dead last. GJ Europe <3
Best moment: When the blonde guy accidentally gets his hipster cap knocked off by a background dancer
Worst moment: Def that moment where the basically SHOVE that dancer's bottom into the camera X__X. So uncomfortable < / 3
Backstage: I purposefully avoided Tracksnowtaz' backstage vids, for reasons I think are obvious. Also, JEDWARD thinks they are awesome, which is probably the biggest red flag of them all.
PS: HC sensoring their name as Tracksnowtaz <3

41. MALTA Kurt Calleja with "This is the night"
21nd place
This buffoon.....
You know, "This is the Night" isn't the worst sing in the competition, and Kurt isn't the worst singer and their act isn't the worst either. In fact, the worst singer (Rambo Amadeus), the worst song (Love Is Blind) and the worst act (Georgia) are still in this ranking. But they all outrank Kurt. Why? Because Kurt is someone I just can't STOMACH, as he combines so many despicable traits:
- Boring, personalityless, whitebread, milquetoast, etc (you get the idea)
- Desperate to forge a personality as a "nice guy"
- Highly smug and moralizing demeanor and constantly boasting what a "good, confident person who believes in themselves" he is.
- Offensively inoffensive
- mediocre singing voice
- clichematronic, dishwaterdull Idol Coronation song
- TERRIBLE backstage vids (see the backstage section)
- Completely humourless individual
- Unreasonably high placement/undeserved Final Qualifier/Joan Franka Slayer
- Hipster (complete with a fair share of "I'mAboveItAllitis")
Terrible. If Kurt wasn't such an unbearable human, he might have ranked a little bit higher, but he wouldn't escape the bottom 5 anyway. "This is the night" is such a stale, emotionless song, and is so thoroughly uninteresting, I'm shocked people even voted for it. The "EY-EY-EY-EY" parts in the chorus and the terrible dancing are cringe-inducing, partially due to what DESPERATE attempts they are to make "This is the Night" appear interesting and unique. People actually falling for it and awarding it points is downright depressing (at least Iceland outranked this in the end <3)
Best moment: Valentina Monetta's evil twin sister being a backing vocal <3
Worst moment: The cringe-worthy onomatopoeia/dancing bit in the chorus X__X
Backstage:
God it's ALMOST as snore-inducing as his song.
And this is Kurt's answer to "What is your lucky charm? ", which was a fun question asked by Eurovision.tv which no one took seriously... no one except one person (guess who X_X)
That's how far I got so far lol. 40 more inconsistent rants to go <3

It's called Euphoria. YouTube 'Sweden Eurovision 2012'.
Quote:the worst song (Love Is Blind)
Eh ... no. I know that taste is subjective, and I'm not saying you have to like it, but Love Is Blind was not the worst song of the competition. It did have a very 70-disco feel, and that may turn you off, but it was actually a very good song within that genre, and Donny was perhaps the best male vocalist of the whole field (he had almost all the qualities of George Michaels vocals, and very few people have that, for all that you can otherwise say about George Michael, which is certainly not all good).
I do agree, however, that the Maltesian performance was not very good, albeit FAR better than the Turkish one, which was by far the worst that made it to the finals imo.

What will happen now?
Hmm... not to shabby, I guess It's perfectly in line with popular music this day and age (far more so than radio is, actually) and with a bit of this and that. Rythm heavy with asyncronous, epic singing going into quite high and strong tones. Yeah, this is a magnificent piece of analysis and composing, with a quality performance. Do I like it? No, not really, but it I totally see why it won, and am impressed by the insight of the composer, as it is clearly composed to win, rather than be good.
____________
40. BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA Maya Sar with "Korake Ti Znam"
18th place
The awkward moment when you realize you've listened to a song 5 times and STILL can't remember what the hell it sounds like. "Korake Ti Znam" is the LEAST memorable song in the competition for me, and since I can barely even remember it, I'd going to put it out of its misery before I continue slaying the other songs I dislike or was otherwise unimpressed by.
To be quite honest, my threshold for Ballad with regards to whether they are boring or not is relatively high too. I'll rarely use the word "boring" for them, since ... you know... they tend being that by default. "Korake Ti Znam" has NO moments which stand out whatsoever, a huge disadvantage, especially when compared to the other ballads, most of which actually ARE memorable. (In fact, Croatia and Portugal suffer from the same issue, but both fulfilled their role as token semi-fodder, UNLIKE this musical borefest)
What a fall from grace from last year's Piano Retard Girl(c). So to end this short write-up, I'll end it with a picture of Maya Sar in happier times ^_^:
B&H should just send Dino Merlin every year, basically <3
Best/worst moment: None, actually. The entire song is so tepid I can't form a tangible opinion about it, let alone remember it.
Backstage: iirc she said -in a rare adorable moment- that her husbear was her lucky charm ^__^. I guess it was more effective than Max Jason Mai's lucky hair extensions.
