That is what my first game looks at 243 BC. Quess my faction? 
and argh, I forgot I was playing medieval 2 for a moment, left half of my army waiting outside of my town for a couple turns and POOF, it rebelled! All those experienced elites...

Since the TW thread is a little active currently I may as well mention that I am working on an Atlantis mod for Rome 2.
The mod would ideally contain:
- Name, colour and text replacement for Syracuse to turn it into Atlantis.
- New unique atlantean troops for Atlantis/Syracuse in both the campaign and in custom battle.
I have already successfully created new test units so I know I can do the most important part and I got several unit designs ready including...
- Arcus: Anti-missile bowmen
- Caladrian Women: Medics, morale support, slingers
- Armoured Chariots: Super heavy chariots
- Contari: Shock Cavalry
- Foot Contari: Pikemen
- Fanatics: Melee cavalry
- Fishermen: Trident wielding, mob skirmishers
- Lampade Witches: Demoralizing skirmishers
- Marines: Naval assault troops
- Oracles: Vulnerable foot scouts, morale support
- Palace Guards: Hoplite walls
- Pirate Hunter: Improved fishermen
- Subversor: Secutor-ish berserker
- Turma: Skirmish cavalry
And of course, there is more to come and nothing is set in stone.

Crashes with "unspecified error" (so Microsoft-ish... ) before it even starts. I guess I'll wait for the full release.

What are you using?
I have win8 and m2tw gold with the latest patches and no problems whatsoever.

Idk whether I should carry on with my modifications or not. With my new video card I thought that it would be clever to increase unit sizes by a half. (1/2 of double sizes, so eg 300 + 150)
So something like: -line infantry being 400-600 in size,
-skirmishers being 200-250,
-Cavalry 150-250
-Cannons rougly 15 (9 for howitzers etc)
-Common troops/conscripts range from 600-900
Costs are determined on a unit basis to the cost naturally went up proportionally. Anyway, the battles I have been having are a little chaotic. Had to remove forts all together cause I just can't put up with the ai and the lag-bug anymore. So it is essentially huge armies of around 10-20,000 men on each side tearing each other apart.

I never could get into Napoleon TW, despite the fact that the ai is miles ahead, and waaay less bugs, and smooth battlefields, as opposed to the mess that Empire is. I still preferred Empire due to it's vastness, and the complexity of the things one can do on the world map.
Anyway, that changed now, I am loving Napoleon Total war, finding places to place my artillery, finding the most favourable ground to attack the enemy from, so epic, and smooth. By smooth I mean that everything works as it should, it's all responsive, my lines fire as soon as I give the order, and not wait for 15 seconds before they do anything, or wait for a single soldier that is stuck 30 meters away. The one downside that I saw was the Wolrd Map is much smaller, but Ima give it a chance that ought to have before.

Never completed Shogun 2 on Legendary before, with the Chosokabe I managed to secure my island with my fleet and land army, but only because of being isolated as opposed to good diplomacy or success on the battlefield.
Now for the first time I'm actually doing really really well as the Takeda, normally I get worn down from two sides till my main army disintegrates and my coffers dry up, and usually at that point anoteher full samurai stack army arrives on my door-step and I concede defeat. This time however I managed to somehow keep the Uesugi tame which allowed me to concentrate my efforts on my eastern front. Did get into some trouble when the Satomi and the Hojo marched on me together, but once I overcame that obstacle I secured Hojo's gold mines and started raking in the gold.
However... Now I have nobody to attack...

Anyone tried Total War: Arena? It is pretty fun. Attila is pretty kewl too gameplaywise beside the era itself.

There seems to be a pattern emerging from CA, first they release a bug filled mess full of miss potential (Empire/Rome II), then they release a new game that "should've been" the previous one at release (Napoleon/Attila though Attila's UI is still garbage) and then they release one of the best games ever made, (Shogun II, and god willing Warhammer).
Hopefully it will be modder friendly, Shogun 2's modding is newb friendly, but the modding potential was/is too shallow (can't edit the map in any destroying hopes of any conversion mods).
Without even having played Warhammer I can already see that it brings so much to the table in terms of gameplay to make it worth it for modders to actually consider making mods like Third Age, things such as flying/magic/heroes on the battlefield.

This whole warhammer thing was originally disappointing to me. Until I realized that the incredibly standard stock fantasy that warhammer is basically makes it MTW3 with magic.
