1. Would you forgive a cheating bf/gf ?
- No under the vast number of circumstances and probably not immediately in all cases.
2. What is considered cheating to you ?
- Well, sex and its derivatives.
3. Is flirting cheating ?
- No. If it goes on for too long though, it will definitely raise suspicions.
4. Is having feelings for another girl/guy cheating if you never act upon it ?
- No but it is very likely to destroy the relationship sooner or later.
5 Is phone sex/sexting/webcam sex cheating ?
- Not much more than the Platonic sex.
6. Is there any difference between a kiss, makin out, having sex ? Would you forgive one or all ?
- Depends on the context. Probably not.
7. One night stands as opposed to long term affairs ?
- The first can be forgiven, the second - hardly.
8. When is it ok to cheat if ever ?
- Better leave than cheat.
9 Have you ever cheated and why ?
- Nope.
10. Do you think you will ever cheat and why ?
- How should I know that?

We may indeed not be talking about 'true love' in the way you understand it, but who're you to define what is 'true love'?
I think it is something everyone has to decide for themselves.

I can say I already now truly loves more than one person. People I'm willing to commit myself fully to, to the degree I'm mentally and physically able.

I think it'd also be considerate to seperate 'love'/'true love' from 'being in love'
Quote:
Falling in love [...] and sex with that person gets even better.

I believe you.

First off, my definition of true love isn't any different from the standard understanding.  I'm not defining anything new.  And yes, for sure people may have slightly different views/understandings regarding it.  But for thousands of years, we pretty much understand what true love is.  Its in our poetry, our history books etc.  What is in those books, isn't any different to what I am talking about now.  Ergo, my views are not new.

Some people are incapable of falling in love.  Why, because they lack empathy, sensitivity and compassion amongst other things.  Some people are just too socially awkward and never fall in love.  Others are too frightened.

And as for your second comment.  I too love many people, I love certain family members, especially my brother and I love a select few friends (male and female), but I am not 'in love' with them.  Loving your friends is very different to loving that special someone.  It is a little difficult to explain because its such a visceral thing.

Loving friends etc is akin to really enjoying their company, caring about their welfare etc. Some friends form such close friendships (soliders especially), that they lay down their lives to protect their friends.  In those circumstances it is because they have been through so much, experienced such hardships and danger together, trust each other because of their training.  Its what Army training is all about.  But mostly we don't experience that with our friends.

However, loving that special someone is a hell of a lot stronger.  You want to protect that person, in fact you care about them and their wellbeing more than your own.  And yes lovers have died for each other too, but the inclusion of sex into that strong bond only enhances the relationship further.  And to really appreciate and experience 'love' comes from dedicating yourself to one person, genuinely loving them, accepting their faults and foibles (and when you love someone, you even love their irritating habits lol), and excluding all others from you sexually because you would rather be with the person you have fallen in love with.

you are right, it's frightening. for the reason you mentionned. if anything goes wrong with your loved one, it just leaves you destroyed.

I've read different things in different books. and it's all subjective. you could say, oh yes, I feel the same thing that what that book describes, but how can you know, you don't feel what other people feel.

When a child falls in love, the older ones will often say, "it's not true love".

When you love someone in a western world, it often means you're willing to let them go, if they don't love you.

While in other parts of the world, it means they should be killed.

All claims true love, but I think what 'true love' is differs between both age and culture.

However, loving that special someone is a hell of a lot stronger.  You want to protect that person, in fact you care about them and their wellbeing more than your own.

It's my conviction that is how I behave towards everyone I love.

In any case, I think I generally agree with you. Therefore I'm wondering, what part of my belief is it you're responding to, when you say you can't identify it with 'true love'?
Is it that I can love someone who doesn't love me back? That I can "forgive" and still love someone who, despite having a romantic relationship with me, have sex with someone else?

I put '"' around the word, forgive, because I'm not sure there'd be anything to forgive.

I love you too.

I too fear this mostly. I try not to think about it, but it really leaves me in apathy.

Sometimes lack of experience is what makes the understanding a bit harder for example, with my first gf back when I was a kid, I was madly in love, I was sure its the best thing one can ever have, was daydreaming about being with her forever, did crazy stuff for her....

We broke up, I broke as well... a few months later met another girl, fell in love, just then realized how horrible my first gf/relationship has been and how blind I was to the truth, simply coz I didnt know any better...
Different perspective that comes with experience

I love my friends, I will go to hell and back for all of them, when they're in pain I'm in pain, but my friends never make me feel "crazy", and love sometimes makes you crazy, when in love you feel like a child, high on life, friends can make you feel awesome but cant take you to places where love takes you coz its a different type a "drug"... thats the difference... ohh and the sex thing aint all that bad either... well depending on the partner

Sure, friends don't make you feel the same way as a love interest. Neither do you feel like having sex when not having sex.
But if it's only the emotion you care about, and not about what you choose and who you choose to do it together with, then you could just as well replace it all with drugs.

What does HC think of cheating ?

1. Would you forgive a cheating bf/gf ?
No never. Its wrong. But i myself would have a hard time resisting temptations. (I've never loved a girl for more than 3 month's, so i don't know real love yet)

2. What is considered cheating to you ?
Its already cheating when a passionate kiss or touch happends.

3. Is flirting cheating ?
Kind of, but not always. I tend to flirt when i'm in a relaltionship, but its just to keep me up for it. Its a sad skill to lose!

4. Is having feelings for another girl/guy cheating if you never act upon it ?
No, i don't think so. Everybody has feelings for someone in their past. "The one that got away!" (Often a sentence used by a serial killer too)

5 Is phone sex/sexting/webcam sex cheating ?
Haha, nope, thats just lame.

6. Is there any difference between a kiss, makin out, having sex ? Would you forgive one or all ?
A simple kiss is so so, but the rest is unforgivable.

7. One night stands as opposed to long term affairs ?
Yup. Both wrong when in a relationship.

8. When is it ok to cheat if ever ?
I have an experience here. When you don't love your partner anylonger, and she feels the same way, but you stay together because of the sex, then i actually think its okay. Call it a push to end it once and forall. (We didn't, so now we can't even be in the same room, and i hate that.. Or is it her i hate? hmm.)

9 Have you ever cheated and why ?
No, only flirted, and thats not cheating!, but its wrong.

10. Do you think you will ever cheat and why ?
Hmm, if the temptasion is too great, then maybe yes. But then again, i'm only 22, so i have time.. Party on, flirting, one night stands, all of this is before marriage. And im sooo not ready for marriage!

Once a cheater, always a cheater.

2. What is considered cheating to you ?
Sex, though I would not keep going with a girl who would make out with other guys..

3. Is flirting cheating ?
No.

4. Is having feelings for another girl/guy cheating if you never act upon it ?
No.

5 Is phone sex/sexting/webcam sex cheating ?
Personally I don't consider it cheating, that does not mean I accept it .. I consider it pretty much as bad as making out with someone else.

6. Is there any difference between a kiss, makin out, having sex ? Would you forgive one or all ?
Yes and no. Yes there is a difference, and no I would forgive none of the above.

7. One night stands as opposed to long term affairs ?
Sex is sex.

8. When is it ok to cheat if ever ?
Never.

9 Have you ever cheated and why ?

10. Do you think you will ever cheat and why ?
No, I've already proven I will not by rejecting several girls .. a true man will never cheat on his girl/woman.

I wonder how the break-up conversation would go...

"Sorry babe, you cheated on me so it won't work"
"Cheated..?"
"You know, the rape"
*suicide*
Seriously, a girl who has just been raped need support .. not getting dumped because of it.

That's a bit cynical, sadistic and... just wrong on so many levels that I can't understand it. As Wog just said, a victim of rape needs support, not condemnation. And I don't think that it can technically be counted as cheating, because cheating on someone is a conscious and voluntary decision, and being raped is, by definition, involuntary and unwanted. Please explain your reasoning.
