How would you know that spiders are inferno? There is a new def, you can script different town affiliation, there is no flaw.

Ah that's right, I never thought of that. In ERM help creature no 122 126 128 are marked as unused and 124 is marked as reserved. Can these slots be used to add creatures (not just in adventure objects) to the game?

Terry Pratched mod used these slots for new creatures. Many crashes, despite using a very good scripter, not sure it can be done. You can try, but take a look at that mod to see from where to start at least.
There is also OxFea plugin (Era) for adding new creatures, tested and it worked.

it's funny that the question came up as to who would be replaced if the spiders were implemented. here is my long-range plan: a town based on people's fears, number 75 on my list of things to do:
75. a fear-based town(black and gloomy, fog):
1st- leeches, lamprey(swamp dwellings, attack is bite, DISEASE possible).
2nd- homicidal maniac(knife attack), torturer(flail attack).
3rd- clown, monster clown(attacks with Raaar! pose, fear power drain, like "IT" clown from Stephen King).
4th- giant huntsman(or wolf) spiders, giant black widows deliver POISON(biting attack for both).
5th- glowing ghost(different from in-game ghost)(looks like woman when still and moving, when attacking turns black and hideous), black shadow ghost(black and hideous, when attacking, looks more terrifying).
6th- shape-shifters(maybe take on the form of who they are fighting?)(slash attack), werewolves(not the ones already in the game)(bite attack).
7th- black shadow shape monster(it's attack instills FEAR, attacks by grabbing), boogeymen(bogeys, same attack).
that's what i came up with for my lineup. i realize that the "black shadow ghost" is very similar to the "black shadow shape monster". not sure how to fix that. be gentle guys, it's only my 3rd idea for a town, first one i posted here.
update: the spiders i was talking about using:
EDIT: I'M DOING THE WORK MYSELF.

Nice, but i'd like to keep at least the green one. Could be placed on other terrains better. And 2 of the 3 Salamandre showed are very good, too. Although the hairy one could be shrinked a little.
Regarding your town idea: Mostly good idea. Only those Ghosts: They are undead and should be kept there. But if you could make better graphics for the WoG Ghosts? The existing ones are not good. Only the soul draining animation is good. The H2 Ghosts where better.
And the clown, well, i have to see that.
Werewolves: Take the existing ones. It may be possible to alter their graphics, but why manage two types of werewolfes? One type is enough.

the existing werewolf sucks. i want to replace it with the one i make for the town. as for the ghosts, i know that they are kinda close to the black shape and bogeys, in idea, so you may have a point. the h2 ghosts were way better, total agreement there. any suggestions on what would replace the ghosts?
here is a more in-depth look at my plans for the fear town:
fear-based town(black and gloomy, fog):
1st- leeches(DISEASE), lamprey(DISEASE)(bite attack both).
2nd- homicidal maniac(BLOODLUST, machete attack), torturer(FRENZY, flail attack).
3rd- clown(MIRTH, throwing knives), mutant/monster clown(axe or pick-axe).
4th- giant huntsman spiders(POISON), giant black widows(POISON)(bite attack both).
5th- ???
6th- shapeshifters(slash attack), werewolves(bite attack).
7th- black shape(FEAR, attacks by grabbing), bogeys(FEAR, same attack).
==========================================
1. town/town hall will look like haunted house.
2. clown will juggle knives when idle.
3. dwellings will be:
leeches, lamprey- stagnant pond
homicidal maniac, torturer- abandoned house
clown, mutant/monster clown- carnival tent
giant spiders- spider hole
glowing ghost, black ghost- burial grounds
shapeshifters, werewolves- dark woods
black shape, bogeys- dead woods

homicidial maniac and clown dont fit medieval atmosphere of the game. people's fears is too wide a subject for a town theme. a dark forest theme with spiders, serpents (leeches if you will), werewolves (i like the current ones, most players i know do), bats, scorpions may be much more concentrated and blending.
the game already has shapeshifters too, the metamorphs.

medieval atmosphere? what about the forge town? hmmm... medieval. people were afraid of witches back then. but then, sorcery was something they were afraid of, and that is RAMPANT in the game. so, dead end there.
what are these shapeshifters you speak of? metamorphs? never heard of them. please show me.
and, people like the werewolf? it's tiny, and it has pants on. might as well look like the black-and-white-era wolfman. horrible. the best werewolf for the game i've seen was one that, sadly, also carried a sword. like a werewolf needs a friggin' sword.
and, there have ALWAYS been homicidal maniacs. henry the VIII? vlad "the impaler" tepes? elizabeth bathory? come on. and that's just a few of the famous ones.
ok, clown can be a court jester...

I also agree that some fould insects do not go well with maniacs and especially the clowns.
There is another town that uses clowns in much better way: Asylum by Alex-Ander. can't find good link to this one now, however.

-In wog settings, you can transform earth messengers into metamorphs, they are fun, try them.
- Homicidal maniac, serial killer etc etc is a modern age phenomenon conceptually. There were murderers and tirans before but in a different sense, the first serial killer is considered Jack The Ripper (19th century) by many. At least the first famous one.
- I also dislike Forge town as an idea but at least it has a sci-fi (time travel or aliens) logic behind it. Fear is something too general to be called a town theme, hence, court jesters and spiders and murderers wont match well in a town.

Making a replacement for the werewolves may be an idea. Why not? I'd just not alter their creature number and stats.
Artus ideas are basically correct, but i'd not mix reptiles and insects/spiders. As far as i remember there was already an idea of an insectoid town. Although on the other hand we have several creatures or ideas of them which are placed on the dark side, like werewolves, but which are not undead. Your leeches could be such an idea. Maybe a Ghoul? Others? Currently no idea.
The serpent men would better fit to fortress. But fortress is already full. So why not create a second swamp town, placed on the evil side?
BTW: I always thought Dungeon has an extreme bad lignup. Troglodytes and Evil Eyes are the only ones that perfectly match. Minotaurs match, too, although not that good. All others do not match. Harpies and Black Dragons would fit much better to an above ground Rogue town (basically like the H4 Asylum). And Medusas would fit much better to the said evil swamp faction

looks like you guys don't like my idea for a town. cool, when i make it(probably this summer), i won't have to share it.
if i remember right, i've seen the pic of the asylum town screen, and didn't care for it.
earth messengers into metamorphs? ok, will give that a go.
siegfried, i haven't the slightest idea what you mean about "serpent men". they were never in my lineup. i agree with you about dungeon, tho. that lineup is a soup sandwich. but then, my fear town idea is a kind of hodge-podge, also, so i can't really talk.
salamandre, i have to thank you for the all-terrain spider hole idea. i made one using the 1st hole def. granted, the hole doesn't show up so well on light terrains, but so what? here's the all-terrain hole added to the spider terrain-
i think it looks MUCH better than the old one. i may even redo the other hole, not sure yet. it may not match up right, being at the angle that it's in.

It was Artus idea. He mentioned it. And they would indeed fit into that "fear", or maybe better "nightmare" concept. I'd just not mix them into one town.

oh, ok. i was confused, i didn't remember reading that anywhere. one question, tho- who is afraid of "serpent men"? i've never heard of anyone being afraid of something like that, lol. maybe a schizophrenic...
@ salamandre- the idea of a death chamber with spiders is also awesome. if i create the terrain battlefield def, would you or anyone else be able to do the scripting part? that would motivate me to actually put the spiders as fighters into the game...
