Quote: @Blob2 -> H1-4 was from 1995 to 2002 when multiplaying was not a priority, more for the single player. With H5 and sim turns, we have been accustomed now to the faster pace of the multiplayer game. This should have continued into H6. Sometimes in an H5 map, if sim turns stops early, like week 2, we would quit the game solely for this reason
Excuse me ? H3 is without a doubt the HoMM game that had the strongest multiplayer community of all HoMMs. Saying it wasn't multiplayer oriented shows how wrong you are. One of the biggest reason H2/H3 were successfull was also because of hot seat games.
You didn't need sim turns in H2/3 because the game was fast-paced and because there simply were a lot less infos to transfer from one turn to the next one. H4 is another story ... the game was poorly coded and time between 2 turns were going from 5 minutes to infinity. Sim turns wouldn't have helped there
Also, don't forget that H2/H3 were light on resources, so it was very easy to do something in the background during the other player's turn (especially in month 3+ in H3 ^^).

H2/H3 didn't focus on multiplayer, simply they offered good singleplayer and good multiplayer. It's the most solid game of the saga and by that I think is the best game of the series.
But it doesn't have the strongest multiplayer, that record is owned by Heroes V, with duels, Sim Turns and deeper strategy (skillwheel).
HIII has a good multi because it has a great base and everything runs smoothly. But not the strongest, imo

Yeah H3 had enjoyable multi because it was quick and simple (not in a strategy sense of course). After so many years, when I play H3 from time to time, I'm always shocked how easy it is to pick up. And it's no secret that the more a game is easy to approach the more addicting it is. You can see that it's true by how many retro-style games are created nowadays (especially from third-party sources), and how popular they are.
In terms of multiplayer options H5 was the most developed one. It introduced duels for instance and a couple of other options so it was a natural evolution (and well executed, alas after all the bug-fixing was complete ) of multi-play in the franchise, and from what I see, Ubi made a step back in this department with H6.
It's a matter of who likes what. I will always remember that Heroes 3 had great single player, I probably spend like 1000+ hours on it (don't know how long but definitely the longest from all the games I ever played). Others liked it's multiplayer side. When I see a new Heroes of Might and Magic entry I want a solid single player, other aspects are unimportant for me...

Quote: - Will we get an improved map editor (with possibilities to put bosses/Dynasty weapons on our map)?
Unfortunately, as stated by Limbic and Ubisoft during Heroes VI Support, it is not possible to improve the Map Editor. Indeed, we would have to create a new Map Editor from scratch in order to provide you an user friendly and accessible tool, which would take a lot of time and resources. We then decided to focus on the expansion content, as our goal is to provide you a brand new faction (with new skills and units) and quality content for the Dungeon faction.
It's snow like this that really pisses me off.
They most definitely (numerous times in fact) flat out said they did have plans to fix the editor to make it more user friendly. Now, they act like they never said this and claim it's not possible to do so.

Don't get me wrong - I also love the simplicity (yet still some deep inside ) of Heroes III. Just wanted to clarify that H5 developed more the multi aspect like you said.
I really hope they learnt the lessons with HVI...we'll see.

Are there plans for new HoMM VI patch?
The current one 1.8.0.0 crashes on certain battles absolutely every time. I can not really go forward with the game (Pirates addon campaign) because of those crashes.
I even have "save" point stored right before one of battles that always crashes (even when "quick battle" is on, where you only see window with battle outcome statistics).
Where can I submit this save point (UPLay/Conflux version) for quick fix by developers?

Have you contacted ubi support? To be frank though, I am not expecting much. Limbic's contract is over and they have left heroes. Whether the new devs will do something about it remains to be seen. I wish I knew how to help but I never got this bug and have no idea what might be causing it

Thanks for reply.
How do I contact Ubi support?
I could not really find any place, even though I searched within Uplay game launcher or even simply via Google. There was nothing like "Report bug" or "Contact support" (but maybe I went blind on this, I am not sure any more).
As to bug, it should be "reproducable" once you begin one of those crashing battles. I suppose that anyone could do it, because it should be connected to specific set of skills/characteristics of my hero and this particular enemy. I have save file where once you load it you see neutral army that always crash the game. I could send this save point data to developers or whoever could look at it.

I filed the error report -- as complete as I could -- with even guess about the root of the crash (possible "division by zero" error during battle damage/effects calculations):
http://ubisoft-en.custhelp.com/app/account/questions/detail/i_id/1777766
EDIT: the link apparently does not work, sorry. Only those who are logged in can see it, id est myself (and Ubi Soft staff).

We can't see the document - most likely only you and Ubi support.
Don't hesitate to tell us what Ubi support says

Sorry for the link that does not work. For now they only say that I will get some answer in 24 hours. Or in 48 hours. Or in indefinitely longer time.

Excellent Q/A ! I'm glad some of my questions made it and for once, every questions were pertinent and to the point.
Of course, the answers weren't as great as the questions, it was still full of double talk and usual corporate gaming dodgy answers.
But Overall I'm satisfied.
Nice work Elvin.
