I like "awareness" as the best reason of all. Since Old Man winter will soon knock;
"Aftermath”
I hear a crack in the distance,
a shower of needles,
and I know to follow the sounds.
I walk towards a magical forest.
My boots crunch and shatter
the delicate china below.
On this winding path of glass,
I move past a crystal field.
Diamond coated weeds abound.
Ice laden saplings kiss the ground.
I stand still at the forest’s door
made of frosty fingers clasping trees.
With my senses at full awareness,
I enter the glistening cathedral.
The palace’s only music for the moment
is the echo of each step.
I stand empty of all care and enjoy,
the sight of thousand priceless chandeliers,
a fairy-tale glistening in the sun.

I'd carve you out of stone
Or shape you out of clay
Put you right beside me
So that you will always stay
Close to me
And you'll never understand
You will never fathom
How much I love you
I'll forever stay a phantom
In your world
I keep imagining
Your silky locks
Around my unworthy fingers
A feeling of dread lingers
You'll never know
And I'd scream forever
But that wouldn't be enough
To scream my love for you
And it's gonna be tough
Getting to your soul
Faith turning into desperation
Nothing to do but watch
World has turned against us
I fear that I won't be able to catch
The last train to your heart

“Photo Album”
Snapshots woven in a mind’s eye.
Moments of reunions and sad goodbyes.
Souls united after years of seasons.
Distance tamed for a host of reasons.
A dash is placed between two years,
a Family circle sharing tears.
A grandma’s face framed in a special spot,
a flower of love called a forget me not.
An uncle and his teasing ways,
echo returning from distant days.
A child running across the lawn.
Giggles of life at the break of dawn.
Brothers frozen in youthful embrace.
A young mother at some forgotten place.
Moments etched on a wall of fame,
remain alive, forever the same.
Treasures of family and friends,
viewed at will as one intends
Testimony to life, in each pose.
A photo album right above our nose.

Back to the basics
Nothing left in the present
No stars are falling
To make a wish
Back through time
To the very beginning
You live only once
But you die a lot
Back from the haze
Returning to the line
Just waiting idly
To be shot down
Back to the place
Where it all started
A brief vision
And it's all gone
Back into the mess
Cause there is no going back
Ignorance is a bliss
I wish I was ignorant of you

Nice one Noob...let er rock.
Made me remember this;
“Golden Glass”
Outside a light rain falls softly to the ground.
Inside this temple, something invisible rises sweetly to the sky.
I see a cloudless blue backdrop framing a songbird soaring overhead.
Voices of children laugh and sing a merry song with a loving pet’s accompaniment.
Am arm comes around my waist and pulls me to peace and warmth.
Purple flowers sing the melody of springtime sweetly to my ears.
A little hand reaches out to me beckoning for a blissful walk to the days of yesterday.
I see a vast number of smiling faces soaking up these precious moments.
There are deep laughs coming from all around me, all unique joining in harmony.
Gone are all fears and cares, fleeting before this profound happiness.
Ages are frozen in this picture, as all these faces are painted together in one long mural.
Candles do not burn on cakes but in the deepest recesses of my heart.
Some spirits in this celebration are bound to earth no more but they are still here with me.
Making the sun feel warmer and the sky bluer and all moments more magical.
I can and do often request this perfect day in my imperfect way.
And still it always unfolds an experience of unmatched beauty.
This reflection is like a permanent neon sign on my path that always points the right way.
In nurturing my soul and feeding my essence with ever lasting thanksgiving.
Comforting me, that all will be as it should in the end as it was in the beginning.
Life in a full circle, life in a straight line, all life resides in perfect simplicity.
Your life, my life, their lives, intersecting in the minds eye like a mirror,
reflecting back to all of these treasured companions and us at last,
in the end...an heirloom portrait, forever etched in golden glass.

I can't sleep
And it's all your fault
Why is your image on the ceiling
Or anywhere I look for that matter?
Cause I swear you aren't here
Wait, how can I see you in the dark?
Do tell me my dear
Left or right
Up or down
No difference at all
I thought I was going for a hug
Till I hit the wall
Still I don't remember you were so small
Because frankly it's not possible
A girl such as you
To make her way
Under my eyelids
And there to stay
All through the night
But now I'm really tired
If you've got nowhere to go
Feel free to stay in my dreams
And it really seems
You'll be staying there for a while

Sometimes I can see something and think" I have to get that down" i.e I once attended an Auction and instead of buying anything I left and went home to capture the mood I'd witnessed in the selling of an old couple's prized-possessions.
The following poem came about chiefly because of my forever fascination with the concept of time. Also within the background story, I found the same sentiment that's grabbed many hearts in all centuries; it grabbed me too and would not let go.
"Ravensrodd"
Tis said; Once upon a time
by nature's wavy wrath
a sandy tongue was made
in the mouth of the Humber.
Now I speak my ryhme
of a sad distant past
when new walls were laid
before sea raged from slumber.
Wilgils settled nearby
his son's birthright known.
Willibrord a Yorkshire son
of old eastern riding fame.
On the Norse 'Hrafn's Eyr'
one sailor made his home
under a golden rising sun
Ravensrodd was soon named.
Ship followed merchant ship
home followed simple home
and sudden prosperity grew.
Aumale graced the new port.
While kisses from salty lips
planted gardens in the loam
gossip spred the news
from court to distant court.
On a near hill I stood
and imagined the joyous scene
when Edward's Royal nod
brought a long happy day.
Seeing Heaven's sweet hood
cover a blue sky serene
amid flowering sand and sod
fishermen at work and play.
But from smile was born tear
the town would not last
for angry Neptune trod
and would have his own way.
One woeful black year
many watery wall blasts
covered young Ravensrodd
and swept the town away
On that hill again I stand
but no trace can I see
not any sign or place
of anything of life before.
For Neptune's cold hand
called in his vast sea
to cover that sandy place
now buried in English lore.
The folk that dwelt here
are now dead and forgot
after their blooming shore-side
was covered by the wild sea.
Now there's only wind to hear
howling over this watery spot
reminding us time and tide
never wait for you and me.
Markkur, Jan.3, 2014
Note: The historical backdrop for the poem. The accounts are larger than the following but I only wanted to give an idea of what I gleaned from actual records.
Ravenser Odd, also spelled Ravensrodd, was a port in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, during the medieval period, built on the sandbanks at the mouth of the Humber estuary.
The name Ravenser comes from the Viking 'Hrafn's Eyr' or "Raven's tongue" referring to the lost sandbank promontory, the modern successor of which is now known as Spurn Point. The town was founded by the Count of Aumale in the mid-thirteenth century, and had more than one hundred houses and a flourishing market by 1299, when it was granted a borough charter.
In the 13th century the town was a more important port than Kingston upon Hull, further up the Humber, and was represented in the Model Parliament of 1295, but as the sandbanks shifted the town was swept away. Storms over the winter of 1356-57 completely flooded the town, leading to its abandonment, and it was largely destroyed by the Grote Mandrenke storm of January 1362. The site is now completely underwater.

Of all the ways I've read people define poetry I found this the best definition. Whether we are wanting people to understand we are unhappy or we just discovered something we think universally important for happiness...and everything in between; we "bump" into thoughts that we want to share with others.
Poetry is a "felt change of consciousness"
Another thought; I think it very odd that Poetry gets such a bad rap in this world today (really the 20th century in large measure too) because to me it is perfectly suited for sharing things that matter in a hectic world. For people "on the go" that do not have much free time for books etc. even a short poem can offer an inspiration, a thought or an idea that can turn a day around...or even lead to greater things.
Anyway, here's another of mine.
“The Poet’s Blood”
They search their hearts and minds
for the perfect words to share
painting pictures of many kinds
of the various thoughts they bear.
Mental needlepoint of verse and rhyme
joys and sorrows of the soul
Life's essence flows within a span of time
projecting passionate hues the goal.
Molding meaning with words of clay
in hopes of a heartfelt laugh or cry
forming what the dreamer may not say
with companionship the reason why.
From the highest calling to the lowest falling
they pursue what they hold dear.
Young enough to hear imagination calling,
old enough to keep experience near.
Snapshots of the human race,
poets seek to give away self.
Within humanity an eternal place,
forever off the shelf.

So unsuspecting
You crawled inside my skin
Now gnawing on my bones
I let out a sour grin
Noises
Loud noises
I shiver
No choices
The sickness
I feel it
The suspense
Just kill it
Burning in the fire
I see hell
And I'm tempted to visit
It looks better than this
Emotions surfacing
Bursting from me
Like scorching magma
Nothing is safe
No escape
No salvation
I seek sanctuary
A dark corner to hide in
Leave me there
Even if I never
See sunlight again

I'm biting my nails
The tension rises
There comes a moment
When there are no disguises
So don't you worry your little head
Everything's gonna be just fine
I'll just leave a bloody line
And you'll soon be dead
So screw you and your stupid ways
You've been a nuisance on all days
Oh, if only you could see me laughing
As I spit on your lifeless body

Time
Without alpha or omega
But it's never enough
Space
A neverending infinity
Yet there is never a right spot
Invisible patterns
Painted all over the face
With nothing to tell
But the tale itself
And no one can see them
Sinking deep into the skin
Leaving permanent scars
And pain within
The unthinkable order
Somewhere amongst the void
Serving as a guide
To each and every madman
Filled with anguish
Bathed in agony
Chasing the rainbow
While tripping on the road
Dancing flames watch carefully
Who gets the primal burn
Devour the future
Swallow the past
Gather the remains
For one more ceremony
The die is cast
Silver blades bend
And the lead shatters
Reality twists
Before the eagle's eye
Welcoming the truth
Or what's really left
When it has to die
For radical changes
Are bound to happen
While grieving's too much to bear
The wild
The only
The everlasting
Are now cast away
Behind the scenes
Is where shadows play
Unlike the mortals
Which are the puppets themselves
Somewhere incomprehensive
Somewhere
Between the edges of dreams

Nice
Here's a whimsical purge of mine a decade ago.
“Painting a straight line”
out of the battle in the box
between the lines of The Lion
over the rainbow serpent
I Leap
holding hands with destiny’s child
both of us crying
onward rode the seven hundred
hacking and slashing till
there was just me
I am
sword-less and pointless
retreating from fate’s widow
forgotten in a fruitful land
eating locusts, stealing honey
dividing memory
I fade
clinging to a frayed rope
refusing to live
somewhere over the rainbow
I regrettably submerged
without eat and drink
I resurfaced
scrapping with peddlers and professors
over what’s real
when the new day yawns
it will find me
alive and deeply well
I’ll wait
with ruler in hand
guiding my novice stroke

I actually wrote a love poem once. Rough translation:
"The Love Code"
Freedom of choice,
my faith and ideology,
It empowers me, lets me choose and decide,
For so long I've been devoted,
yet it abandoned me
It mocks when I see you,
in the classroom, at the club,
just the sight of your name,
Makes me ignite,
but do you even understand,
the meaning of what I'm trying to impose you
Striped flags on a summer day and they said to me,
diversity is a winning perspective,
even a lifestyle
But I was not assigned the role I wanted,
So maybe its futile, or just wrong of me,
trying to change you
Then the night came
filled with the smell of smoke and booze,
intoxicated but in love,
we join,
Only as I wake up,
bottles all around us,
I fully realize,
the futility
Now I know,
for I have experienced,
that true freedom doesn't exist,
a facade for the chains,
that bind us
It constricts me,
and it restrains you,
For in another life we'd be perfect,
but here,
in the present and future,
there can never be us two,
For we are slaves to life's cold code
____________
Over himself, over his own
body and
mind, the individual is
sovereign.

That's a ****ing great poem, Xerox!

Flying over to the bay

Never to be seen again

xerox said: I actually wrote a love poem once.
And a Good one. That is a speech nearly all people can relate, no matter the language.
Here's one of my few "negative-scribbles" directly from a R/L experience {on the flip-side of love} when it is proven completely false by adversity. All too common; "Deception uncovered by fate." But TG it was finally was revealed; who wants to live a lie?
“Halt Stranger”
When did you acquire this serpent’s tongue?
How can you not remember who I am?
You can come no farther with me on this journey.
Remain where you are at this last crossroad.
You betray both of us with false expectations.
Return alone to the illusion that you will not release.
What you still seek has left my world of uncertainty.
Reality is what I must accept in order to survive.
You will never be at peace with me in this circumstance.
Go chase the rainbow dreams of your desired bliss.
Find your perfect place in life with my blessing.
Pain has taken your vacant place at my side.
Leave from my heart that still pulses in this unwanted body.
Halt the paradigms of accusation from your wayward spirit.
Take from me this endless inquisition before your court.
I do not know you any longer and never will again.
You have broken my heart with your reckless omniscience.
Your ears are merely circles of impenetrable stone.
No memories of my essence reside in you to guide your way.
Your selfish heart has been swayed by the devil’s tongue.
In truth, I am not faltering here by your hand or mine.
This thorn is changing my life without my permission.
This cup I must still drink, but never again with you.
You cannot come closer than the far reaches of my heart.
I’ve unlocked your invisible shackles of yesterday’s oath.
Pack up these years of joys and sorrows and be on your way
I understand clearly, that without you, I must fight this demon.
When did your vow perish, and this stranger take its place?
How can you not remember who I've been?

This is a poem I wrote one year ago, or something like that.
BLACK SWAN
Movements of elegance and grace…
a single mistake is a big disgrace.
Push the limits of the perfection.
Stand ‘tween the real and imagination.
So, now…
Shadows dance. Change now what I see.
Movements are blurred by the Moon, an aria to lunacy.
Come, charm and bewitch. Come and dance faithfully.
Bring, in a moment, the tranquil storm above the sea, in me.
And then leave me…
Alone and forget me…
Swap the night and the day.
Sorrow and joy are the words that you must say.
If not with words, then write, or show.
Promise you’ll not trick me before you go,
Don’t leave me where…
Shadows dance. Change now what I see.
Truth and lies are blurred by you, the pathway to lunacy.
Leave, cleanse and pure. Leave towards that twilight sea.
Take away my heart, soul and all memory of you from me.
And then leave me…
Alone and forget me…
Whirl, whirl, whirl and dance! Here’s my chance!
I will be free! There’s no withholding, and no defense!
Whirl, whirl, whirl and dance; swing black wings over the fence!
The Sun, the Moon and the stars await, beyond the reality’s gate.
Far into the dreams I wade; the white and black define our state.
The great a fate, on slate await; as the dream readies to dissipate…
And where…
Shadows dance. Change now what I see.
The feathers are blurred, as the light guides me to lunacy.
On the tip of toes of fantasy, bring me my salvation’s key.
Go all over again from the beginning, as I count one, two, three…
And then be me…
When you forget me…
