Well, it was clear on the Blizzcon Saturday Schedule there was a panel for the movie, and earlier in October it was annouced the release date for the movie

The movie was not an urban legend. As soon as they've announced plans to make it a few years back I was very hyped (if I remember correctly first info saw daylight sometime close to James Cameron's Avatar release date, sth about technology finally reaching the level to make films based on Warcraft, but I could be wrong). After that things went silent. Now they finally revealed some dates and plot concepts (though first sketches suggested that they will make a plot based on Warcraft III, they've shown some World Tree concept art etc.). Like I said, plot-wise I'm not that satisfied, but we will see what the future holds. If the film will become a success then it could become a stepping stone for the creation of "serious" movies based on games (fantasy genre to be precise if I may suggest sth  ). Blizzard is probably the first ever big gaming company to take matters in their own hands, not hiring some "directors" like Uwe Boll... we'll see if they manage.

Cmon, don't be so negative, we already had some interesting game-based movies
