Several miles down the road from the watchful Drakk encampment, taking a sharp turn through the woods toward a ragged spine of hills and crags tearing the valley in half, a damp cavern loomed menacingly over its surroundings. The eerie plethora of inhuman howling and the clashing of weapons echoing from somewhere deep within indicated what sounded like a grave commotion; yet the sight itself seemed nothing out of the ordinary for those involved. Indeed, it was but a fight to the death - or, at the very least, horrific disfigurement - between two jeering goblin warriors, armed with an assortment of rusted hooks and knives, in the midst of a motley gathering of marauders, cutthroats and rank-and-file brigands of all kinds and races.

"You'z maggot-ridden frogspawn!" one of them would hiss spitefully.
"I'z gun' eat yer eyes!" the other retorted, time after time, with more seething malice.

As the scene stretched on into the night and reached its gory conclusion, betting turned to cheering and tankards of cheap root ale hammered into one another, all but extinguishing the ghastly, yet oddly vigorous noise of iron piercing flesh repeatedly.

An imposing figure of an orc, wooly sideburns smoking from dust flying around in clouds, braided crimson hair falling down the ragged finery he was clad in, nodded in content and shuffled off down the makeshift hallway. Deeper into the darkness, the cavern opened toward a rocky cavity where, dimly lit by the surrounding torchlight, a mountain of teeth, fur and muscle reared its head, its black, piercing gaze aimed menacingly at him.

Unflinching, the orc recognized the particularly misfortunate direbear that used to be the former owner of the grotto. Now a gutted grotesque of its former self, the enormous creature nonetheless radiated a feeling of peril, the blind rage of its dying moments never fading from its glance.

A rugged, throaty voice thundered from somewhere in the shadows.

"Yea? Wot d'ya want?"

"It's me, boss," the orc uttered hurriedly. "The gobbos are done."

The thumping sound of heavy footsteps and a dreadful stench of sweat, blood and other, more obscure, ingredients heralded the appearance of a lumbering half-ogre the size of a bear - granted, not a dire one, but a formidable beast at any rate. Strong in muscle, bad of temper and bald of repugnant head, tusk-like teeth, golden earrings and several deep scars adorned his face, while his bare chest more than slightly spilt over the rugged metal plate that covered his vast paunch.

Wogzgrot Skullbasha, the uncontested leader of this particularly vicious group of raiders known as the Stompaz, leaned over the mighty animal's cadaver, causing his skulls to rattle and clang. Indeed, skulls of all shapes and sizes, hung by chains, drawn in blood or nailed across his crude but effective armor, seemed to be an ornament he used rather liberally in apparel. These would presumably be the ones lucky enough to elude the fate of those that earned him his nickname.

"'Bout time," the warlord growled, and a large fly flew out from between his teeth and out of his maw. "If they 'adn't 'urried it up, I'd 'ave come there meself, an' den dere'd be no winner, would dere."

"Sure as 'ell, boss. Sure as 'ell," the orc agreed wholeheartedly. "But 'twas well worth it. The boys loved the show, they did."

The half-ogre stretched his coarse lips into a smirk. "Did da job right, did 'e?"

"Roughest gobbo we've had in years, boss," the orc nodded. "Sneaky as a mountain cat. Can slit two dozen throats without wakin' anybody, that one," he concluded cheerfully.

"Right. I dun' slit throats. I rip 'em out. Make sure 'e knows, so'z 'e doesn't get no funny ideas."

Sinking his monolithic teeth into the raw mutton leg he was holding, he bit off a chunk and started chewing on it.

"How'z it goin' wif da preparin'? Da boyz in shape? Dun' make me look fer meself."

"All good," the orc assured. "They's itchin' fer a fight, boss. I've seen the cannibals lookin' at each other hungrily. The time's right as it gets."

"Mmph. Make sure dey keep da importan' onez alive. I need 'em fer da map." He put a special emphasis on the last word, and made certain that every drop of indiscriminate bloodshed, should events turn out otherwise, could be heard in his voice.

"Yes, boss. I sure hope they'll be more of a talkin' sort than... them other ones." The orc motioned his head toward a reptilian skull impaled on Wogzgrot's shoulder spike, bits of rancid flesh still holding onto it.

A short pause that ensued was broken by the half-ogre taking another bite of mutton, then tossing the leg aside and getting his hulk of a body moving toward the makeshift common room.

"Dey'd better be. Now get movin'. Imma go check on da boyz, tell 'em how fingz are."

-Tell me, boy, what is your name?
-Alexander.
-Right, Alexander. And where are you from?
-That is a bit tricky question to answer.
-Why? Do you belong to a nomad clan?
-Oh, no, no. It's just that... Well, alright, I guess there's no point in pretending anymore.
-What are you talking about? Are you a spy?!
-WHAT?! O-of course not.
-Then speak up! There is nothing to be afraid of.
-Alright, here it goes... I come from planet Earth. It is located in the Milky Way galaxy. On my planet there are seven continents and the continent where I come from is called Europe. Europe consists of many small countries and a few bigger ones. My country's name is Serbia and it is located on the Balkan peninsula. If, you by any chance, know how to get tjere from here, I'd be most grateful.
-Well, kiddo, I did not understand half of what you said, but I doubt that anyone would lie about such matter. Tell me now, what is this you're wearing. It doesn't look like armor, nor a robe.
-Oh, this? It's a Nirvana hoodie.
-What is Nirvana and what is a hoodie?
-Nirvana is a musical ba-... err, it's a name for a group of music performers from America. It's a different continent on Earth. A hoodie is a form of clothing which is basicly a sweatshirt with a hood that covers the head. And, before you ask, a sweatshirt is a common clothing worn our planet.
-I must say that you left me speechless. Perhaps some of our wise men would be glad to talk to you about your birthplace. Anyway, my men and I were just about to have a meal. Do you want to join us?
-Ah, you can count me in. I haven't eaten a thing since I arrived here.

Aura woke.  She had been sleeping deeply and she felt that she had been sleeping for a very long time.  At first everything seemed silent, then she could hear the soft snoring of Tjika, her maid.  The maid was slumped in a large sumptuous chair, that was adorned with rich furs that were flung haphazardly over it.  Aura noted Tjika's large stockinged feet resting on a cushion close to the fire pit.  The fire pit itself glowed gently in the gloom.

Silently Aura rose from her bed and threw her shawl around her.  Outside she could hear the shuffling noises of soldiers and faint talking.

Sliding on her slippers, Aura tip toed towards the entrance of her tent.  Outside stood four soldiers standing guard.  Aura closed her eyes and whispered the ancient incantation taught to her by the Brotherhood when she was a young Drak.  The words hung in the air for a few seconds before doing their work and Aura walked straight out of the tent and past the guard without either one ever having seen her.  She sneaked round to the back of the tent, and slowly picked her way through the sleeping soldiers and ogres before making her way past a ridge and beyond the sight of her group.

Taking off her shawl and letting it fall to the ground, Aura unfurled and stretched her wings languidly.  It felt so good to her.  She shook her wings and flapped them hard, stretching her muscles as she did so.  Dust and debris pooled up in large puffs around her.  And with another powerful indulation Aura took off into the night sky.

-GENERAL! WE MUST FLEE!
-What?! W-what's going on?!
-It's the Nantross! They've already breached the outer wall of the fort!
-Curses! Take the servants and this boy through the escape passage. My knights and I will stay here and try to hold them  off.
-Understood, general! Boy, you'll come with me. Hurry!
---------------------------

The Nantross warriors make short work of the freshly recruited soldiers. As the Water Mages continuously storm the fort's wall with the powerful currents of water, the knights proudly charge through the enemy's lines and break their formation. Most of the people manage to escape the fight and run into the woods for cover. They watched as the fortress' towers crumbled to the ground failing to resist the power of the magical water blasts of the ruthless Nantross mages.

A solitary hooded figure standing under a large tree is looking up to the night sky. The hill he is on barely allows him to see across the woods around. There is a silent longing in his eyes as he observes the current of air swirling around.
"Been a while since the last Drakk flight."
He answers to the shorter figure that has now appeared next to him: "It has indeed."
After a short pause he continues: "Longer for this hall to witness the Ichar."

A pillar of white-blue flames strikes out into the night sky, connecting heaven and earth, centered around the tree and the hill the two were standing on. It vanishes as quickly as it appeared, with no apparent reason.  The hill is no more. A hexagonal tower of white marble, eroded over time, is standing in its place. The large tree of the hill is protuding from the middle of the tower, its leaves reflecting the night sky from its thousands and thousand, now silver, leaves. The dark, deep black trunk of the tree extends down into the darkness of the tower which seems to go on forever. The shorter character traces the smoorth surface of the marble. The taller character observes silently.
The shorter character pushes her cowl back revealing the flaming red hair plaited as a crown on her head and her striking features. The taller one too pushes his hood back and a string of white-blue flames light up in a spiral pattern to light the long descent into the tower. The woman takes a step into what seems to be empty air down into the shaft, quickly followed by another but instead of falling she continues descending into the tower like walking down stairs. The glimmer of the lights distorts under her sandals and reveals finely crafted crystal plates suspended in the air. The man follows down after her.

The deeper they get the less and less eroded the marble seems. After two hundred steps the walls come to life with exquisite golden imagenary. Depictions of prestigous celebrations, stunning palaces, glorious combat and dreamlike scenery fill the way down. Even the dark trunk of the tree is embellished, not with pictures but with runes. Glowing blue runewriting runs along and around the tree, burned deep into the tree itself, yet it looks not bothered by it. Slowly the descent starts to widen and bit by bit it opens into a great hall. The crystal stairs run down all around the dome untill reaching floor level, floor so smooth, so even, it reflects all of the imagenary of the ceiling perfectly.
In all its magnificent glory there is a hollow feeling hanging in the air, the feeling of sorrow and longing. This hall has not felt the step of the living in an eon. The woman steps down from the last crystal onto the cold floor and as soon as she does all the flames go out and the ghastly light disappears leaving but darkness behind. The man walks down the last few stairs in the darkness and steps down to stand at her side. In a flash the whole hall is illuminated by the starlight filtered down the tower, reflecting off the leaves of the tree standing in the middle of all this. The light leaps around the dome shining brighter and brighter untill the dome is as bright as the stars it receives its light from.
The man offers his right hand, palm up. The woman looks up to his eyes full of dedication. Her eyes show a glint of relief and joy as she accept the invitation and places her left hand in his. Slowly they walk closer to the tree in the middle. When they reach midfloor they turn to face each other and he bows while she curtsies. They begin an eerie dance, gliding around the hall, like dancing on ice. A quiet otherwordly song starts to rise from the hall. Soon the hauntingly beautiful melody reaches the top of the tower and starts to echo in the night in the woods above. The animals all wake up and peek their ears, the sound is not something they have heard but yet it still feels familiar. For sentient beings the echo of the song sends feelings of both dread and admiration right down to their soul. For this sound has not been heard in this world and it is unnatural in the current order of the world. But for creatures native to Tarquiss, it has always been here, just tonight, it echoes a little stronger.

Along with the song the runes on the grand tree light up from the base all the way to the top and the whole tower restores itself to the glory it once carried all the way to the top. A pure white tower of light pierces the night and links to the distant stars on the sky.

The gates of Ichar long closed, have been opened.

Aura had flown vertically high into the night sky.  The cold air stung her face as she closed her eyes and reveled in the powerful beat of her wings.  Feeling the bitterly cold air as it flowed over her body providing currents for her to dip and dive like a swallow.

Despite her size, Aura was as fluid as water as she rose higher and higher, pulling her wings in to form a tight spiral that forced the air currents and light night mist to form fine vapor trails braiding the air beneath her as she continued to soar.  Then suddenly she stopped, hovering for a moment before diving. Wings outstretched, she headed back down towards the ground at full speed.

A blinding white light hit her like a sonic wave causing Aura to almost spiral out of control.  A screech left her as she righted herself and she instinctively climbed higher into the air, her eyes trying to focus.  She landed safely, but rather shaken upon one of the razor sharp peaks of the black mountains and stared out over the valley.

What she saw left her cold.  Confused but now thoroughly alert, Aura watched for movement.

The rabbit jumped over the small stone and landed on the green grass.  At last it found the scent that has been tingling in its nose.  The fresh leaves had the little creature’s attention for a while.  After curiously smelling its would-be food, the rabbit’s instinct thought it was safe to eat it.  The mammal opened its little mouth to allow the glorious leaf touch its excited tongue when a small dagger pierced through its soft neck.

“Oh damn!” Bria exclaimed as she approached the dead rabbit, “This would not happen if those pricks didn’t cheat on me!” The pirate picked up her dagger, the rabbit still sticking on it.  She looked at the poor creature, glowering.  The black-haired brigand can’t just believe that she made a bad move.

Yesterday was a bad day for Bria.  She decided to get a decent amount of gold from gambling and lost.  And the worst part was - she lost the entire retainer she received from mercenary work that she accepted the day before yesterday.  She remembered she was too drunk to perform a decent pick pocketing.  The pirate actually found herself waking up outside the tavern.

As she prepared her unappealing breakfast which she planned to roast, Bria thought what could be the best thing she could do given the few resources that she still have.  Her current job, she thought, was the worst of all.  She hated it when she didn’t even know where to start.  The pirate was clueless.   She was only told to destroy some kind of artifact but wasn’t told where exactly it can be found.  The best information that she acquired was – the artifact was not in Ythillion.
Even though she found this job unsound, she still took it for she had no better choice.  The amount of gold she would receive could buy her a new ship and Bria always wanted a new ship.  She was also running low on gold and it seemed to her that job offers gets rarer and rarer as the years passed by.

When the roasted rabbit was ready, she took its leg and walked towards the end of the cliff were she can clearly see the ship she was planning to board.   She leaned on a tree while slowly munching on her food.   As Bria observed the ship from afar, she placed her free hand on her gold purse and felt it.  She counted her gold only six left and the pirate knew it was not enough for the ship’s fare.

After a few moments, a sly smile came out from the pirate’s face, her striking almond-shaped eyes gleaming with joy.  She chuckled a bit and said, “I’m going to do this the easy way…”

The day already broke since Zayl was attacked by the possesed. There were more travelers by day, and Zayl heard a lot of interesting rumors. About a wizard found murdered in Dresk, a possibility of war in Adarmis, pirate fleets skulking around the coast and many more.
Zayl decided to rest a bit in a roadside Inn. carved into the face of the mountain, it was surely something you won't see everyday. one could say it was made by dwarven stonemasons.
Zayl opened the heavy wooden doors and enter the inn. He sat by the bar.
- Wine please- Zayl said to the innkeep- And I'll have whatever you're cooking.
- Right away good sir- The barkeep said as he received a gold coin.
The meal consisted f a haunch of meat with dark bread. the wine while not being the finest, was still good to wash down the stringy meat of the great mountain goat which were numerous in this region.
While drinking a second goblet of wine, zayl examined the map he found in the manuscript. The destination wasn't far from his location now, maybe a few hours on foot.
Zayl finished the drink, thanked the innkeep and departed.
However, he didn't noticed the band of bandits following him, for they noticed the gold coin that Zayl tossed at the innkeep. and if a lonely traveler has one gold piece, he's bound to have more.

"P-please, don't kill me. I-I-I told t-the boys not to att-tack ye, I t-told them t-that I did."
"Hahaha, do you seriously think that I'm going to belive your lies. This corpse has seen better liars than you."
" Wait! I, err, I can get you off of Ythillion for free! Just d-don't kill me!"
" You've got my attention for now, scum. Speak up, fast!"
" Well, there's a ship headed to Tarquiss and my sister's brother-in-law's uncle is the captain. I can get you on board and you won't have to pay a single coin."
" What are you waiting for, then?! Run!"
"Y-y-yes, right away!"

The scared pirate ran away. Khaos started walking in the same direction. "Just try to double cross me and I'll make sure you get to experience the biggest pain in your pathetic life."

posted April 11, 2014 03:16 PM

The pillar of light connecting sky and earth had not been seen in an eon. Such distant past had long turned from history to legend and on to myth and fairytales. The stories told of great skylights watching over Tarquiss and its inhabitants. They told of the times of great prosperity and peace. They told of the mysterious elves who traveled on the clouds in the sky. They also told of the arrogance and greed. They told of the betrayal of the worst kind. They told of the great war that set the world ablaze. But most of all they told of the powerful men and women of Ichar whose reign extended across all of Tarquiss. Of their palaces of marble and gold shining across the lands. Of their phalanxes of mithril and spears so numerous the line would extend from the Peaks of Dragonland all the way to the frozen wastes of Baktor. Of their great celebrations that could be heard across the mountains. Of course such stories are often mixed and exaggerated and discerning the truth from them was an insurmountable task.
That is, if someone were to recall those tales in the first place. The current generations had long forgotten what their great grandparents had recited to them when they were still swinging in their cribs.

Uptop the man and woman appear out of the pillar of light. The man scans the environment with his eyes.
"The drakk has landed."
A small smile creeps onto the womans lips. "Let us."
She opens her mouth wide and straightens her throat. A voice far too high for human ears leaves her and spreads across the night. The small strings of fate, entwined in all things, connecting all things, start to vibrate ever so slightly, creating a concerto of faint vibrations reflecting further and further. The ones not enchanced by magic quiet down but the particular strings connecting to a certain peak overlooking the valley.
"She's still here. Over one of the peaks."
"She?"
"A young female. She is confused. I think she will see us if we move." The woman started weaving an intricate pattern in the air and the crossed strings eventually connecting her to the drakk started organising themselves. She gently nicked the string, now connected to her right hand middle finger, towards her and spoke softly:
"We apologise for this." The words conveyed to the young drakk straight into her mind. She then grabbed the string more firmly and gave it a quick shake. The sudden movement traveled across the distance in the blink of an eye and the spell surrounding the female vanished. She then continued:
"Do not be afraid. We wish no harm to one of the Winged Ones, certainly not to one who flies with such grace." Fully aware that the drakk probably was unable to sense and manipulate the strings and answer her without flying over she waited.

After a few hours of rough, unmaintained side road Zayl finally reached his destination. Before him stood a monolith built from black granith
The entrance to this immense fortress was barred by a large metal gate with a strange lock in it's center. Zayl looked at the mechanism. He seen them before, and knew how to deal with them. though they required some elaborate key to open it, Zayl knew a way to by pass these locks. Somehow they responded to the sword that Zayl wielded in combat. He placed the gauntleted hand onto the lock, the blade's energy resonated from within, and the glyphs carved into the lock mechanism glowed as the mechanism cranked and turned, unlocking the gate.
Zayl entered into the monolithical fortress. Upon seeing this, the bandit group that followed him, decided not to bother with him and went back on the main road to look for easier prey.

Aura had hunkered down, her wings wrapped protectively around her as she stared through the night sky and watched as two shadowy figures emerged from dazzling pillar of light.  Aura's Drakk eyes pierced through the darkness and distance and could make out a human man and woman, their shadowed figures stark against the backdrop of pure shimmering light.  Aura watched, transfixed, immobile with concentration as the strangers moved as though in conversation.  Then the female figure moved aside and Aura sensed a change in the air.  She readied herself for flight, her muscles tensed - but nothing came.  The shadowy female had only raised her arms, almost like she was reaching for something.  Then Aura felt it.  It came in soft waves, barely perceptible.  A soothing, musical voice, so faint yet entrancing.  Aura listened intently, "Do not be afraid".

After the voice had finished, Aura felt bereft for some reason.  The sounds were so soothing.  Aura realized she had to reply, but her training advised caution.  Aura was more than capable of defending herself, having been taught how to fight as soon as she could walk.  But something told her she was not in danger here.  She gently dropped over the edge of the peak and soared down the mountainside.  She flew high and circled the pillar and its occupants twice before landing a safe distance from the man and woman.

Aura said nothing, but slowly and cautiously advanced forward.  Her wings at the ready to serve as both weapons and her means of escape.

She could see them now.  She raised her chin and stood at full height. "I am Lady Myrrh D'Rho Ksk y Mnesz Oudh Ilyinyasin, Princess of the Realm and daughter of Count Maeryk Ilyinyasin, Constable of Rho Ksk, Ruler of these lands.  Speak and state your purpose".

"Are these damned pirates ever going to realize that fighting me is pointless? This is the 429th pirate group I've killed for ambushing me...", Khaos mused, "Ignorant beings who only think of a way to get rich... They should've been eradicated a long time ago when their forefathers crawled out of the dirtholes they lived in. None of this would've happened if the Dragons hadn't fled upon seeing the primitive humans."

The sun was at it's peak as Khaos spotted a ship, probably the one that the pirate mentioned. It was reasonably large and it appeared to be a trading vessel as suggested by the large amount of cargo being loaded onto it. In front of the ship was standing a rather large man wearing a red coat, and another, smaller figure. They were having a conversation of sorts, or at least something that resembled a conversation due to the shorter man's gestures which showed that he was in a crisis.

"That must be the imbecile who promised me a free ride. Let's see how his negotiation will work out."

Khaos approached the two men below the ship. The shorter man was, indeed, the pirate he had spared that day, or rather, the only person he had ever spared. The other man was, without a doubt, the captain of the ship.

"Hold, right there, lad", said the captain, "I've no business with ya, geddit? I don't want ya near my ship or my crew. What Zekiel promised ya is not of my concern."
The pirate's face got pale all of a sudden, "But, but, Tavier, he's gonna behead me if you don't accept the offer! I said over and over!"
The old seaman took another look at Khaos who was already reaching for his blade. "Argh, damn you, Zekiel! Alright, fine, but you will cover the expenses for him, understood?!"
"Yes, yes, just make s-sure he gets to Tarquiss safe and sound!"
"When do you set sail?", asked Khaos.
"As soon as the all of the goods are loaded. If the winds are favorable, we could get to Port Ultah in a day and a half."
"Fine", responded Khaos, "I advise you, though - don't get on my nerves beacuse I will not hold back my urge to kill."

The man takes a step closer. Not a short man by any means, he is still two feet short of the drakk female. His face carries refined features, his eyes are sharp and concentrated. There is not a shred of uncertainty in the way he carries himself. His voice comes out strong and clear. "We greet you Lady Myrrh D'Rho Ksk y Mnesz Oudh Ilyinyasin, Princess of the Realm and daughter of Count Maeryk Ilyinyasin, Constable of Rho Ksk. You may call us Ilena-" The woman steps next to him as he introduces her. Her face holds strong, similarly refined features, giving her a sharp and even ruthless look. Her deep emerald eyes contrast her fiery red hair that has been plaited as a crown on her head and flows freely down her back. Even though the man is nearly a feet taller his presence is left in the shade besides her. Her posture radiates natural power and the kind of charisma that makes the mountains give way. "and Karev. We apologise for disturbing your flight, your highness. We are travelling to Hjalnuur. "

Aura's expression was stern and she scrutinized Karev and Ilena's faces for the slightest expression that might hint of danger or secrecy.  She found none.

"Explain this", was Aura's short and blunt response as she gestured to the pillar behind them.  Whether they had wanted it or not, they were going to be accompanying Aura to Hjalnuur as guests or prisoners, regardless.  But first she wanted some answers.

Zekiel handed over the gold purse he had been carrying to the captain and ran away from the place as fast as he could. Khaos watched the pirate as he disappeared behind the horizon. The captain and his crew continued their work as the day stretched on and were about done in three hours.

"We'll be off soon", said the captain, "Don't forget to get onboard."

"The matter is somewhat complex eplaining it will take some time. We would prefer to postpone it if at all acceptable. We have understood that our journeys coincide. If your highness wishes for it, we can explain on the way to Hjalnuur. For now your higness can leave here safe in the knowledge that it will not cause anyone harm." The man then adds:
"Your highness' entourage must be vexed as it is."

Zayl entered the vast hall inside of the fortress. there were no windows, or torches to light, but the halls and corridors of the fortress were illuminated perfectly, it was like a middle of the day here.
In the center of the hall stood a pedestal covered in fine silk cloth, on it, a shard of some sort was laid. upon closer examination, Zayl determined that it was a piece of a blade.
The hall itself was a hexagon in shape. in the walls a vast  mural told a story of sort, probably the history of the fortress' long gone inhabitants. At the corners stood a suits of armor, each holding a large poleaxe.
Zayl closely examined each of the murals, in this hall there were five in total. Zayl believed that this hall was used to safeguard the most important relics of the extinct race. The first three bits told of how the race came into the vast civilization which span through all known land, all the accomplishments of it's people and a supposedly golden age. The fourth depicted a scene in the king's or emperor's court, where the ruler supposedly angrily dismisses emissaries of another race. The final fragmet of the mural depicts preparations for war, as the smith's in the mural were shown forging powerful, mystical weapons.
Zayl walked over to the pedestal, and picked up the sword piece

"My entourage will do what I say", Aura snapped.  "However, you will accompany me back to my camp.  There you can have food and shelter.  This is not negotiable", she added sternly.  Aura was in full imperial mode and was not in the mood to be argued with.  She had sensed this couple's genuine concern, but their power scared her.  She wouldn't be happy until she had them more secure, at least until she discovered who they were.

"I will send a guard to watch over your edifice here.  You need not be concerned about its safety.  This way", and Aura gestured with the tilt of her body the way to her camp.  And with the merest hint of irony, "As we are to be travelling companions, I welcome you to my camp".

The man exchanged a knowing glance with the woman. The woman then spoke in a soft and low voice.
"This is in agreement with us. We have no reason to object." She then pulled up her cowl, hiding her hair and face, only the piercing gaze of her emerald eyes remained. The man followed suit and pulled up his hood. They then started walking to the direction of the camp with Ilena next to the drakk princess and Karev next to Ilena. Their stride was brisk and light in the nightly forest.

As they get closer to the camp Ilena suddenly stops.
"Ogres. You have ogres in your camp?"
