Yeah, great ending. USA can be proud of their work, but Belgium clearly deserved the victory.

Now two days without football, snow this

USA is kind of in the same boat as the emerging African teams when it comes to the technical aspect of the game. Strong physicality but still not quite enough technical skill to maintain possession. Probably a dozen frustrating occasions in that Belgium match where we just noob-booted the ball out of bounds while on the defense instead of successfully gaining control & running with it for a counter. Belgium deserved that win unfortunately.
Proud day for Tim Howard though. 15 saves

Now I will cheer for a glorious Costa Rica or French victory.
Or a Belgian victory

Indeed, great strategy from USA team. Can't say the same from our German friends

Still, a great save by Courtosis. What an excellent GK he is

Nothing against Brazil, but I don't want to see them snatch up their 6th friggin' Cup, even though there's a very good chance of that happening in their homeland... 6 countries have received the World Cup title while hosting it.

Nah. It won't be a push-over, but the odds are a bit in favor of the German team. Algeria just played well above their par in the round of 16.

The round of 16 is the most conservative stage. The high profile teams that have a decent chance of taking the Cup are concerned of yellow cards and temporarily losing key players for a more dangerous quarterfinal match, and then the lower profile teams like Algeria pour everything they got into the match. It's pretty standard for the lower profile team to rack up more fouls and yellow cards and then in the later stages it starts to even out.

France first offensive sub was in 84'? Yeah

They played like they were on draw and not behind...still plenty of chances to equalize, but Neuer and Hummels defended beautifully.

Deserved win for Germany, although they didn't look very scary.

I have yet to see a scary looking team though..

But I agree, I completely deserved win. Especially if you count those 2 100% chances from Schürrle in front of the box

Yeah, I have no idea how Schurrle missed BOTH chances. What a waste to secure the semifinals :/

Edit: Also Germany 4th consecutive semifinals, grats!
